Congratulations to our 2025 seminary graduates 🎓

For the last four years, these extraordinary youth have been waking up at 6am each day to attend our seminary program - an hour of scripture study before school.

Seminary helps our rangatahi learn to develop Faith in Jesus Christ, deepen their understanding of the scriptures, and strengthen their personal testimonies of the Gospel.

Thank you to all the teachers, leaders and whānau for supporting our youth.

Over the years, we’ve been fortunate to build strong relationships with our local leaders, and be inspired by their dedication to serve our communities.

Congratulations to all elected members, may the Lord guide you in your service.

We Thank Thee, o God, for a Prophet

President Dallin H. Oaks was announced today as the 18th President and Prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The announcement was made during a live broadcast from Salt Lake City, Utah. President Oaks was sustained and set apart today, October 14, 2025.

In The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the prophet is chosen through a divinely inspired process. When the prophet passes away, the First Presidency is dissolved, and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, led by the longest-serving Apostle, assumes leadership, confirming the new Prophet through revelation and priesthood authority.

President Oaks, 93, succeeds President Russell M. Nelson, who passed away September 27, 2025.

The new leader of a global faith of more than 17 million members has called President Henry B. Eyring, 92, and President D. Todd Christofferson, 80 to serve with him as first and second counselors in the First Presidency, the Church’s highest governing body.

President Oaks also announced that President Jeffrey R. Holland, 84, will be the President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. https://newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org/article/president-oaks-new-first-presidency

Our stake communications team had the privilege of attending the Vaisakhi Open Day at the Takanini Gurdwara Sahib.

In Sikhism, Vaisakhi is a significant festival that marks the birth of the Khalsa and the beginning of the Sikh New Year. It is a time of reflection, celebration, and community.

Events like these are important because they create space for faiths to come together, learn from one another, and build mutual respect and understanding. Despite differences in doctrine, we were reminded of the many values we share—faith, family, service, and love for our communities.

As President Gordon B. Hinckley once said: “We can and must work together, live together, and build a better world together.”
