📜 Haora o Hītori 📜: Taken sometime between 1885-1895, these whakaahua show the original state of what we now know as Tātai Hono Marae. The whare was first used as the temporary church of St Paul's, Symonds St, before it was moved to our current site and became the Holy Sepulchre Parish Hall.

Sharing another of Te Mīhana Collective's latest recordings - Runga Rawa (Highest Place)

The whānau at Te Mīhana Māori - Church of the Holy Sepulchre offer these waiata as a free resource, and hope they may be received as a taonga - used within churches and worship gatherings, for personal devotion, and to support whānau to worship in te reo Māori. With the hope that it will encourage and uplift, drawing people closer to God and our saviour, Jesus Christ.

The collective simply asks that it be received in the spirit in which it is given - shared freely, and not reproduced, altered, or used for commercial purposes.

Nau mai, haere mai, hoki mai ki ō tātou karakia! Come through to our 8.30am traditional service, or our 10.30am family service this Sunday as we celebrate Matariki 🌟! Join us at 2 Burleigh Street, Grafton; or on the live stream here on this page. Free parking around the whare, and a kapu tī to follow after each service. Further - a reminder that due to the school holidays there will be no Kura Rātapu (Sunday School) this week.

As we celebrate the rising of Matariki again today we acknowledge that this years theme - 'Matariki Herenga Waka' is all about inclusion and encouraging all people to celebrate Matariki together.

In living this out, it is our heartfelt conviction that everyone who walks through the doors of Te Mīhana Māori - come, join, feel welcome. Whether you head along every week or once in a while, whether you arrive with joy, with questions, with burdens, or simply to rest - we are grateful you're here.

Your presence brings life to this place, your story matters, we see your whakapapa, and God delights that you're here. As a whānau of faith, we open our doors wide - not just to welcome, but to receive each person as a taonga, a gift from God.

Kia tau te rangimārie ki runga i a koutou katoa. May peace rest upon you as you come, and as you go.

Our Friday Night Market is on tomorrow night, with a special Matariki celebration; 5-9pm; right here at Te Mīhana Māori (2 Burleigh St, Grafton). We've got some great entertainment lined up, including projections of ngā whetu o Matariki and a rolling story of ōnā pūrākau in Tātai Hono Marae.

As always there’ll also be plenty of delicious kai, including slow-cooked meat rolls by Makima Eats (facebook.com/MakiMaEats/), Korean fried chicken by Torchy NZ (instagram.com/torchy_nz/), hangi steamed buns by Bun Face Dumplings (instagram.com/bunfacedumplings/), and caramelised apples by Love Dem Applez (lovedemapples.com/)!

The heaters will be on within Tātai Hono Marae, creating a warm and cosy indoor space to sit, eat, and catch up with friends and whānau - so invite them along! Following this one, the next market will be on Fri 24 July.

Our friends at Saint Augustine's would love to welcome you - and anyone you'd like to invite - to their Alpha Course, hosted at Tātai Hono Marae, beginning Wednesday 29 July at 7.30pm.

Alpha is a series of seven relaxed evenings where people from all walks of life can gather over kai, drinks, and honest conversation to explore the big questions of life, faith, and Jesus.

If you have friends, workmates, whānau, or others in your life who are exploring faith, rediscovering it, asking questions, or simply curious, this is a great opportunity to invite them along. Even if you've been a Mihingare for many years, we're sure you'll still find the conversations enriching. Further, your presence, wisdom, and encouragement will be a real gift for those who are newer/exploring the whakapono.

No pressure. No judgement. No charge. Just good food, good company, and space for genuine conversation.

💗 Pink shirts. Bright smiles. Big hearts.

Our amazing kuia of the Auckland Anglican Māori Club lit up the stage at Taikura over the weekend with a performance that was full of grace, strength, and a joyous wairua.

They remind us that kapa haka isn't just for the young - it's a lifelong expression of whakapapa, faith, and aroha. Every waiata, every step, every smile speaks of generations who continue to inspire those coming behind them.

We're so proud of our kuia and all who represented the Angies with such mana. Mā te mahi tahi, mā te waiata, mā te haka - ka ora tonu te ahurea Māori.

Ka mau te wehi, e ngā kuia! 💗✨
