BACK 2 BACK CHURCH OF ORIGIN KILIKITI CHAMPIONS

Congrats to all 8 teams that battled it out on Saturday. After pool play we were left with the top 4 teams EFKS & Tama ole Meko from Pool A and Catholics and LDS coming thru Pool B.

Pool A semi saw LDS struggle and only make 56 runs from 60 balls which is a very low score. Everyone were stunned and knew this was a easy semi for EFKS however LDS captained Bruce Tuala kofi'd himself to bowl. First ball saw EFKS opener Citizen Tamatimu caught in the out field by Vaega Tui. 2nd wicket, 3rd wicket, 4th wicket, 5th wicket came from the LDS bowlers and all of a sudden EFKS found themselves in a very difficult position. LDS got 12 wickets in record time and looked like they were going to create the biggest upset in Origin history. However Zach Satiu came on to bat as 2nd to last batter and hit 2 consecutive boundaries to put his team into the final.

Tama ole Meko got over their Catholic brothers in the other semi even though young Catholic bowler Doug Finau kept his team in the game with his bowling attack. Meko got the W n showed great experience hwever the Catholics will be disapointed as they know they are a quality side when they hv thea best 15 available.

Grand final... finally the defending Champions EFKS were facing the lineal Champions who did not partake last year after winning 3 years straight. Meko got off to a great start with Saumani and Brian bowling brilliantly however EFKS opening batter Citizen Tamatimu batted right through to the 60th n final ball which he hit for a 4 n walked off the pitch with 64 runs not out. Meko needed to hit 108 runs off 60 balls.

Meko with the batters n experience they have in thea squad knew that they were always in with a chance. Ben Mailata was unlucky to be caught out with his first boundry 4 which then put Meko on the back foot however George Toelau, Captain Brian n Fox kept them in the game. Wellington Tamatimu controlled the game with his bowling which gave them breathing space with the final 10 balls. Meko lost thea 1st final since Origin started in 2019 however the future 4 them looks good with thea young players having experienced this final.

Congrats to EFKS Captains n Leaders Darnell Satiu, Reuben Lava n Nanai Dave Tauaanae on a successful tournament.

Looking forward to see all the uso's mix teams again as we prepare for BATTLE OF THE HOODZ.

CONGRATS TEINE EFKS

What an awesome day with 5 Churches giving it thea all for thea respective churches. EFKS went throught round robin play undefeated n faced a passionate Catholic side in the final.

Both teams displayed brilliant skills on the no #1 field in front a packed house. Catholics came close however EFKS bowlers showed class in the last 25 balls to get home comfortably.

Well done to all the teams that took part n congrats again to Captain Loa Semau n the EFKS sisters on another successful campaign.

We have 2 womens 1 day comps coming up in March which is exciting for females keen to play more kilikiti.
