On Monday evening, our community was blessed by the presence of Sr. Susanna Edmunds and Sr. Anastasia Reeves of the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia (Nashville Dominicans) from Sydney, Australia. The Sisters joined us for a meal and shared deeply about their life, spirituality, and ministry as Religious Sisters. Their witness to consecrated life was both inspiring and encouraging. They generously answered questions from the seminarians and offered thoughtful advice on formation, study, and growing in fidelity to one’s vocation.

On Tuesday evening, the Holy Cross Seminary community was blessed by Carly Mulqueen, Director of the Catholic Enquiry Center, talking about evangelisation and accompanying those who are seeking God and exploring the Catholic faith.

The presentation highlighted the many ways people are reaching out with questions about Christianity, the Church, and their desire for a deeper relationship with God. It was especially encouraging to hear that, over recent months and years, there has been a significant increase in the number of people seeking to learn more about the Catholic faith and journey towards becoming Catholic.

Mark McKeon, a De La Salle Brother, and our former Pastoral and Human Formator, visited the seminary and shared about his experience in Palestine, offering us a deeper insight into the realities of life, faith, and service in that part of the world. As the semester draws to a close, the Holy Cross Seminary community bids a fond farewell to Deacon Emilio, Deacon Linh, Br. Rodney, and Ignatius as they prepare for the next stage of their formation and ministry.

We give thanks to God for the many ways they have enriched our community through their friendship, witness, and commitment to their vocation. While they will be greatly missed, we rejoice as they continue to respond generously to the Lord’s call.

Please keep Deacon Emilio, Deacon Linh, Br. Rodney, and Ignatius in your prayers as they embark on this next chapter of their journey. May the Holy Spirit continue to guide and strengthen them, and may the Lord bless them abundantly in all that lies ahead.

The Holy Cross Seminary community was honoured to welcome Archbishop Gábor Pintér, Apostolic Nuncio to New Zealand and the Pacific, for a special visit to the seminary.

Archbishop Gábor celebrated Mass with our community before spending time with the seminarians in an engaging Q&A session. It was a wonderful opportunity to hear about his ministry representing the Holy Father, his experiences serving the universal Church, and his encouragement for those discerning the priesthood.

We are deeply grateful for Archbishop Gábor’s visit, his inspiring words, and the generous time he shared with our community. Please keep him in your prayers as he continues his ministry in service of the Church.
