This Easter ask each other, what is your response to the Truth who died for you?

Please read our beautiful Easter Devotion What is Truth? written by Lorraine Harvey

WHAT IS TRUTH?Imagine the scene: the roar of the crowd outside, the heavy burden of politics within, the air crackling with anticipation, and a weary Roman governor gazing at a bound man who claims a kingdom beyond this world. In the midst of all this confusion Pilate the Roman governor asked the qu...

Term 2 coming up already can you believe it! This will be a very popular study I am sure.

Trust in Him! The Gospel of Luke Part 3 (17:1-24:53)

What can we learn from Jesus’ patient teaching and challenges? In the media, we hear lots of disturbing news about natural disasters, earthquakes and storms, man-made disasters like wars. As a result, it’s easy for us to think that things are so much worse now than they ever were. But earthquakes and famines, and strife between people have been happening for thousands of years. We hear more about these events now because of worldwide communication.

Focusing too much on all this can lead to fear and anxiety as we wonder what will happen next. In these last chapters of Luke we learn from Jesus’ teaching that no matter what fears and anxieties we face about future events we can be confident that God has a plan and is in control.

Jesus’ teaching in Luke helps us to have the right perspective and to decide ahead of time not to worry. We are to trust that God will give us whatever words or wisdom we need during these end times.

How can this study also help us? Studying the teachings of Jesus will help us to focus on who Jesus is and what he asks of us. We read that when Jesus took the disciples out to Bethany He instructed them to wait to be empowered by the Holy Spirit. Then they could go out and testify to all they had seen and heard — and spread the good news of Jesus.

Luke ends his gospel with these wonderful encouraging words:

“Jesus led his disciples out to Bethany, where he raised his hands and blessed them. As He was doing this, He left and was taken up to heaven. After his disciples had worshiped him, they returned to Jerusalem and were very happy. They spent their time in the temple, praising God.” Luke 24:50-53

This study will help you to be sure about the gospel, so that you too can spread the good news of the risen Lord!

Spiritual Enablement: Prayer provides grace and strength in all circumstances helping us to live effectively for the Lord.
It would be very much appreciated if you would make a note in your diary of these dates and pray for them on the day.

The story of the ‘Parable of the Persistent Women’ teaches us that, as followers of Jesus, we should maintain a constant and persistent prayer life. It also teaches that we should not become discouraged or give up, even when facing life’s challenges. From this parable we also learn that prayer is a continuous, essential lifestyle of communication with God, not just a scheduled activity, fostering humility and dependence on Him.

It is with these thoughts in mind we humbly ask that you join us in our Prayer Week. We need your ‘constant and persistent’ prayer support as we organise and prepare for our Summer Retreat events being held from
6 – 21 March.

Julie Potts our speaker, originally from the Hawkes Bay, now lives in Melbourne with her husband and children. Julie’s overall theme for her messages is “What is Good?”.
Her special focus verse is from Micah 6:8, “What does the Lord require of you?”.
Her session titles based on this verse are:
To act justly, demonstrated by Joseph’s example
To walk humbly, viewed through the life of Moses
To love mercy, our greatest example: Christ
To bring glory to God through our gifts. 1 Peter 4:10-11
