Remembrance and Candle Lighting Service

Ashhurst Domain
Monday 2nd November (All Souls Day)
7:30-8pm

A short outdoor service for the wider community to remember loved ones in the lead up to the Christmas Season. If you'd like to stay longer to talk we'll be there till gates shut at 9pm.

Byo Chair if you'd like.

Plan A is to meet at the left of the Cemetery. If the weather isn't great we'll go under cover near the playground. Atrocious weather we'll shift to St Mary Magdalene Church down the road.

We are delighted to host our Bishop, Justin Duckworth, this Sunday 13 September at 10am at St Mary Magdalene Ashhurst. Bishop Justin will be preaching and presiding, and the service followed by a potluck (bring yourself before you feel pressure to bring food!).

This will be a combined service, so St Bartholomews in Komako will not be having their usual service.

A wonderful St Bartholomew Feast Day service at St Bartholomew Komako, our rural church in the Parish of Pohangina.

Bartholomew was one Jesus' 12 disciples, and said the famous words, "What good can come from Nazareth?" The answer of course is, 'Jesus'! Bartholomew became a missionary to multiple continents, and was eventually martyred for his faith in Christ.

10 Gathered at 8am in Ashhurst, and 50 gathered at 10am St Bartholomew for a Communion service, a message on Joyfully following Jesus, and a great BBQ lunch of venison, beef, salads, and traditional gingerbread.

Save the date for Sunday 29 August 2027 for the next one!

This Sunday 30 August we're restarting an old Valley tradition - the St Bartholomew Feast Day.

At 10am there will be a combined Parish service at St Bartholomew, Komako - (1921 Pohangina East Rd), followed by a supplied BBQ Lunch, and tea.

St Mary Magdalene, Ashhurst will have an 8am service only. There will be some rides available from St Marys at 9am.

Wet weather venue for the lunch will be at the Forlongs on Opawe rd.

Bartholomew, also known as Nathanael, was one of Jesus' 12 Apostles, a missionary to multiple continents, and was martyred for his faith in Christ.
