In today's cooking session we made a kumara-topped bean, bacon and vege pie. Very tasty! And we also created these gluten free crackers. Next week it's 3 or 4 recipes that start with a roux sauce. Come along 11am - 1pm at the church hall, Friday June 26th.

We've had two great times this week. Today was the pruning demonstration which had been advertised in the Hotline and was well attended. On Friday we had the first of 3 cooking sessions. The next two are on Friday 19th when we'll be making a hearty bean and bacon casserole and then Friday 26th when we'll be probably making egg souffle and several other things. Those sessions are from 11.05am - 1 pm and are free to attend. We have several spare places those dates if you would like to come. The classes are being held at our Anglican church hall on Church Street.

Harvest Festival at Holy Innocents

This Sunday, come and celebrate the harvest and give thanks for God's abundant blessings as well as the hard work of the people of the land who produce the food that sustains us. Let us be mindful too of people in our communities who are struggling with the cost of living. You're welcome to bring along food suitable for donation to local food banks. Some perishables are fine too.

We'll be celebrating Harvest Festival on Sunday 31 May. This is when we give God thanks for our year's harvest and bring some of it along to share with others. Pumpkins are popular but bags of sugar or flour, tins of fish, tomatoes, pasta, a jar of peanut butter - all these things are useful. Gifts will go to the local food bank after the service.😃
