Thame Monastery Rolpe Dorjee was a practitioner endowed with the great powers and as a sign of accomplishment was able to twist an iron rod with his bare hand.

Thame Monastery or "Dharma wheels Of Great Bliss is located in khumbu,Two hundred meters above thame(3800m) on the southern slope of Sumdur Mountain(5377m), under a very high rocky cliff with many auspicious shapes Marks. According to the oral trasition,the Thangme monastery was founded by lama Sangwa Dorjee's middle brother Rolpe Dorjee, Not to be mistaken for the Lama of the same name who buil

t the nearby kyarog Gomba about one century later. The particular iron is still preserved in the main shrine of the gompa and is displayed during the annual Dumjee Festival. 📸 Final moments from this year’s sacred Mani Rildrub Festival 2026.

Yesterday, the sacred Jinsek (Fire Offering Ceremony) was beautifully completed with prayers, purification rituals, and blessings for peace, protection, and harmony for all beings.

Today, the sacred Mani Rildrub Festival 2026 came to its spiritual conclusion with the dismantling of the sand mandala, purification rituals, and final Tashi Monlam prayers for world peace, environmental protection, and the wellbeing of all sentient beings.

Though the ceremonies have come to an end, the blessings, devotion, and spirit of Mani Rildrub will remain forever in our hearts.

{Part 2} 📸 Here are a few beautiful glimpses from yesterday’s unforgettable and spiritually blessed celebration at Thame Monastery.

Yesterday marked the 11th and main day of the Mani Rildrub Festival — the long-awaited sacred Mask Dance Day. The ceremony began with the traditional Sunthang, where monks respectfully welcomed the Head Lamas and guided them to their ceremonial seats on the stage.

The sacred performances then began with Rolcham, a traditional hand-skill dance performed by the monks, followed by Rewosangcho prayers for peace, blessings, and good fortune. Throughout the day, a series of sacred Mask Dances were beautifully performed, filling the monastery grounds with spiritual energy, devotion, and celebration.

As night fell, the celebration continued with villagers gathering together to sing and dance to traditional Sherpa songs — joyfully preserving and celebrating the rich Sherpa culture, unity, and community spirit.
