At Pal Thupten Shedrub Ling Pal Thubten Shedrub Ling Monastery - Thousand Buddha Temple , our 33 monks have just begun their dedicated journey into Ngöndro—the profound preliminary practices that lay the foundation for the entire path to awakening.
Like preparing the ground before raising a great temple, Ngöndro cultivates merit, purifies obscurations, and gently trains the mind toward renunciation, devotion, and wisdom. Through prostrations, refuge, Vajrasattva purification, mandala offerings, and Guru Rinpoche supplication, each step becomes a deepening connection to the path.
As they enter this period of retreat, which may continue for about a year, we extend our heartfelt prayers and aspirations for their strength, perseverance, and realization. May their practice be steady and meaningful, and may it bring benefit not only to themselves but to all sentient beings.
