Introduction of the Bethesda Bible College:

Living at the eve of the third millennium, we are concerned with the future of theological education in Nepal in Spirit filled setup. The future has in store lot of challenges for theological education in Spirit filled charismatic setup with immediate discipleship and church planting. The marginalization of the poor and the weak in the process of globalization, the growing religious fundamentalism which feeds in to the increase of communalism in the country Nepal (e.g. the recent riots and conflicts in constitution assembly and consequently we do not have constitution for the Country). The revolution in communication and its impact on the moral and ethical values of people, the atomic blasts in India and Pakistan and the threat of holocaust, the continuing discrimination and atrocities against women, dalit and tribal, the unchecked growth of technology and industry and the consequent disturbance of ecological balance in this globe, all these pose a serious threat to the quality and continuance of human life and as such theological education which has to do with a Gospel of life cannot be indifferent to these threats coming from different quarters. Theological education in future has to remain sensitive to all these issues and respond appropriately, so that candidates trained under this Bethesda Theological College in Nepal are adequately equipped to minister to God's people and plant church with immediate discipleship in this country Nepal.

The goal is that pastors and church planters will be effectively equipped with knowledge and practical skills for the work of the Church. The material that Bethesda Bible College covers in the courses can be considered the ―essentials for every pastor. The material is written in such a way that accumulation of knowledge and facts is not nearly as important as grasping important Biblical truths and principles. Students and Teachers alike must always remember this principle.

3. The curriculum: Bethesda Bible College will inevitably look different. Students and Teachers alike must always remember this principle. Each of the courses found in the Bethesda Bible College are Bible-centered. The courses are meant to be taken in succession from the very beginning. Each course is self-contained and provides a basic foundational level Bible College/Seminary education. The materials found in this volume are meant to be covered over a period of two years class room and one year practical Church planting ministry. Each individual course provides an expected amount of hours to cover appropriately. Provided a finish time within two year, the actual amount of time and pace spent for each course will vary depending on the ability of the teachers and the ability of the students to understand the content. That the entire curriculum is covered and taught within the three year time frame.

They are familiar with pastoral ministry and are spirit filled faithful and reliable men, who are ready and committed to training fully devoted disciples for the work of church planting and pastoring using the Bethesda Theological College curriculum. Teachers are selected by a Bethesda Theological College authorized representative. Faculty and Teaching Method
Bethesda Bible college professors make it a point to be sensitive to the denominational backgrounds of the Bethesda constituency, which comprises supporting missions and churches, and a student body representing various denominations. This means that each Bethesda professor is committed to:
1. Remind the students throughout the course about the professor’s and the college’s adherence to Article I in the Bethsaida Statement of Beliefs concerning the Bible.
2. Share all the standard evangelical approaches to the Bible books/passages under discussion in the course, representing each approach fairly and showing their strengths and weaknesses. (For example, when teaching on Isaiah, the professor shall present the three approaches to the authorship — single, dual, trio — and the strengths and weaknesses of each.) The professor may also invite guest speakers who may better articulate a particular viewpoint.
3. Present an approach to a book/passage not as the correct, or only, interpretive approach, but as one that makes the most sense to the professor. The professor shall always support his/her position with evidence from the Bible and share his/her approach in light of point #1 above.
4. Allow students to form their own interpretation to a book/passage. A professor is not to downgrade a student for disagreeing on a view/approach. However, a professor shall expect students to defend their positions using evidence from the Bible; failure to do so may result in a lower grade.
5. Help all students to appreciate and respect viewpoints of Scripture different from their own and dialog with others holding different perspectives, with love and understanding. We look forward your co-operation and support for running this newly established Bethesda Bible College effectively and meaningfully for the ministry of the Lord. Please kindly uphold us in your private and public prayers.
