Christmas Song Competition Guidelines:
1. Eligibility:
The competition is open to all members of the Church Central Deanery, regardless of age or musical experience.
2. Song Requirements:
β’ Theme: Christmas and reflect the spirit of the season.
β’ Type of songs: Songs performed for the competition must be original and newly created. The lyrics should be uplifting and in line with the values and message of the Catholic Church.
β’ The lyrics will be evaluated by the organizing panel for approval. Only songs approved by the committee will be allowed to perform.
3. Performance Categories:
Participants can choose to perform either solo or in a group.
4. Registration:
β’ Interested participants must register in advance.
β’ Registration Process:
o Contact your Parish Priest and provide the following information:
ο§ Name;
ο§ Contact Information;
ο§ Participation type: solo artist or group;
ο§ The title of your song; and
ο§ The lyrics.

β’ The deadline for the registration is December 9, 2023. All registered participants will have to submit their demo to the following WhatsApp numbers by December 17, 2023:

β’ Registrations will not be accepted after the end of the deadline.
5. Competition Schedule:
β’ The competition will take place on
o Date: December 30, 2023, Saturday.
o Time: 1 p.m.
o Venue: TBD
β’ Participants should arrive by 12 p.m. for sound checks and other logistic arrangements.
6. Performance Rules:
β’ Each participant or band will have a maximum of 10 minutes to perform their songs.
β’ Performer/s must be Catholic or ones preparing for baptism.
β’ The organizer will only provide a basic sound system. The participants are responsible for bringing their own instruments and special equipment, props, or costumes if needed.
β’ The songs should be max. 5 minutes long.
7. Judging and Awards:
β’ A panel of judges will evaluate the performances based on the following criteria:
o Lyrics and their relevance to the Christmas theme.
o Creativity and the originality of the songs performed, incl. the tune/music.
o Musical talent and skills.
o Presentation and stage presence.
β’ The best songs will be recorded, and distributed.
β’ Awards and prizes will be given to the winners in the following categories:
o Best Solo Performance.
o Best Group Performance.
o Best Lyricist.
o Best Vocals.
o Best Music.
8. Recording and Distribution:
The best songs could be recorded and compiled for use for the Church in the future for church services, Carrols, events, outreach, and other activities. Participants will be credited for their work.
9. Registration Fee:
The following registration fees apply:
β’ Solo song: Rs. 100
β’ Group song: Rs. 200
10. Final Notes:
β’ This competition is a festive and joyful way to celebrate Christmas as well as show your talents. Take the opportunity while you can.
