Today, on 20th August 2026, at the Thegchen Shedrup Temple of Drigung Kagyu Rinchen Palri Monastery, Ven. Khen Rinpoche Thupten Yeshi, together with a great gathering of the Sangha, presided over the Tashi Pe Sojong (Auspicious Mending and Purification Ritual), marking the midpoint of the 45-day Summer Rainy Retreat.
This is one of the three ceremonies performed to purify the Pratimoksha precepts and to restore the virtue that may have diminished over time.
The vast merits generated through this great Sangha gathering were dedicated to the peace, prosperity, and well-being of the entire world.

Under the guidance of Khenpo Konchok Zangpo and Lama Konchok Dorje, the annual Chakrasamvara and Vajrayogini Drubchen is being conducted at Drigung Ngaden Chöling and Drigung Tashi Dzong Dharma Center in Germany, founded by His Eminence Drubwang Sonam Jorfel Rinpoche.

Devoted students from Germany are participating in the sacred puja and receiving precious Dharma teachings and instructions from the two masters.

On the auspicious afternoon of 28 July 2026, under the guidance of Venerable Khenpo Thubten Yeshi, the monastic community of Drigung Kagyu Rinchen Palri Monastery respectfully welcomed into Thegchen Shedrub Temple the sacred representations of the Buddha’s enlightened body, speech, and mind. These included a blessed Buddha statue representing the Enlightened Body, the thirteen volumes of the Vinaya scriptures representing the Enlightened Speech, and a precious stupa representing the Enlightened Mind. Sacred thangka paintings of the Sixteen Arhats were also enshrined. The sacred objects were carried into the temple with circumambulations, prayers, and offerings.

On the auspicious morning of 29 July 2026, the Sangha gathered to perform the Posadha (Mending and Purification Ceremony), together with the preparatory rituals required before entering the Annual Summer Retreat. These ceremonies were completed in accordance with the Vinaya tradition.

On the sacred morning of 30 July 2026, 32 Gelong (Bhikshus) and 145 Getsul (Shramaneras) solemnly took the vow to enter the 2026 Annual Summer Retreat. During this period, they committed themselves to diligent study, meditation, and the preservation of pure monastic discipline for the benefit of all sentient beings.

On 29 July 2026, the entire monastic Sangha of Drigung Kagyu Rinchen Palri Monastery gathered to perform the Amitayus Nine-Deity Long-Life Ritual, together with the recitation of the Long-Life Dhāraṇī and extensive long-life prayers for His Eminence Kyabje Garchen Rinpoche, who is presently unwell. The Sangha fervently prayed for His Eminence’s swift recovery from illness, that he may continue to uphold and spread the Buddha Dharma, and that he may enjoy a long, stable life as the sublime protector of the Drikung Kagyu lineage, abiding in the enlightened nature of Amitayus, the Buddha of Infinite Life.

The merit accumulated through these virtuous activities was dedicated to the swift recovery and long life of His Eminence Kyabje Garchen Rinpoche, with prayers that his enlightened activities may continue to flourish for the benefit of the Buddha Dharma and countless sentient beings.

On July 13, 2026, His Eminence Khentrul Konchok Tenzin Rinpoche visited the A***n villages of Dha and Hanu Thang, and later continued to Achi Na Thang and Leh-Dho. During His Eminence’s visit, he bestowed the oral transmission (lung) of the mantra of Avalokiteshvara (Chenrezig) and offered profound Dharma teachings and spiritual guidance to the faithful devotees.

Thereafter, His Eminence proceeded to skurbuchan monastery one of the principal monasteries of the Drigung Kagyu tradition, where he granted the faithful the oral transmission of the daily practice of Avalokiteshvara (Chenrezig). He also bestowed teachings and instructions on the Samadhi Empowerment (Ting Nge Zin Wangkur), together with invaluable Dharma advice for the benefit of both this life and future lives.

Through these compassionate activities, His Eminence graciously bestowed these precious transmissions, instructions, and blessings upon the assembled devotees, inspiring them to deepen their faith and commitment to the Buddha Dharma.

Activities of His Eminence Kyabje Khentrul Konchok Tenzin Rinpoche at Garkhon (July 7–12, 2026)

In response to the heartfelt invitation of the A***n Sangha Community and the people of Garkhon Village, His Eminence Khentrul Konchok Tenzin Rinpoche graciously arrived in Garkhon on July 7, 2026. Upon His Eminence’s arrival, the entire community extended a warm and traditional welcome, respectfully offering a ceremonial Mandala.

On July 8, with His Eminence presiding, the newly constructed Garkhon Monastery was formally consecrated. On this auspicious occasion, the mandala of the Three Roots was ceremonially unveiled, followed by the rituals of obstacle-clearing, ritual purification (Trüsol), and the consecration (Rabné) of the monastery and its sacred Statues and Thangkas.

From July 9 to 11, under the guidance of His Eminence, Garkhon Monastery held its first annual Kunrig (Buddha Vairocana) Drubchod, marking a historic milestone for the monastery. Throughout the three-day sacred ceremony, monks and devotees gathered to engage in extensive prayers and rituals dedicated to purification, merit accumulation, and the welfare of all sentient beings.

On July 12, His Eminence compassionately bestowed the Long-Life Empowerment according to the Machik Drubpai Gyalmo tradition upon the faithful devotees, together with the corresponding oral transmission (lung). His Eminence also conferred the oral transmission of Kusali Chöd and delivered profound Dharma teachings and spiritual guidance, emphasizing the importance of authentic Dharma practice and instructions that bring benefit and happiness in both this life and future lives.

This sacred retreat is a time-honored tradition that offers a precious opportunity for lay practitioners to accumulate great merit by offering food and tea to the Sangha during this period of deep practice.

About Yarney;
Over 2,500 years ago, the Buddha established the summer retreat during the Indian monsoon to protect countless tiny beings and crops from harm. Monastics were instructed to remain in one place for three months to avoid unintentional harm and to engage in focused meditation and study.

Today, this tradition continues across the world in honor of the Buddha’s wisdom and compassion, as monastics dedicate themselves to ethical conduct, inner reflection, and the Dharma.
