𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐋 𝐓𝐈𝐁𝐄𝐓𝐀𝐍 𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐘𝐄𝐀𝐑 (𝐋𝐎𝐒𝐀𝐑) 𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐀𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐋𝐀𝐌 𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐘. We are pleased to offer the opportunity to send offerings and dedications to Tharlam monastery, Kathmandu, Nepal, in support of the ‘Annual Grand Gutor Puja’ by way of the ‘Yamantaka Obstacles Repelling Ritual through Torma Offering’ (Dor-je Jig-je Tor-dok) to be performed from February 12th to 16th, 2026. You are cordially invited to participate. Gompa member-supporters can send offerings, together with dedications, at any time up until February 16th, 2026.

The Event:

The ‘Grand Gutor Puja’ (Gutor Chenmo) is traditionally performed towards the end of the last Tibetan lunar month of the year. The purpose of the ‘Grand Gutor Puja’ is to clear away all of the sickness, suffering, bad luck, and obstacles of the past year and to request the blessings for an auspicious fresh start for the year to come.

All of the monks of the monastery participate in this special puja, in which offerings and prayers are made to Yamantaka, the wrathful manifestation of Manjushri, the embodiment of the wisdom (prajna) of all the Buddhas. This special practice will be performed for five consecutive days in order to bestow great benefit and blessing to all participants – including the clearing away of both inner and outer obstacles to our lives and practice, the overcoming of illness, and the endowment of profound confidence, wisdom, and merit.

To participate in this event, please go to www.gompaservices.com and sign in to your Gompa member-supporter account and select ‘See all current and upcoming events’ in the ‘Participate in year-round Special Events’ panel; then select the event (from the list in date order, or by selecting Tharlam from the monastery / nunnery list).

Today marks the Parinirvana Anniversary of the great Sakya master, Sakya Pandita Kunga Gyaltsen. A peerless scholar and fully realized being, he laid the intellectual and spiritual foundation of the Sakya tradition. Revered as an emanation of Manjushri, his wisdom and compassionate activities continue to guide us on the path of Dharma.
