Does Matthew 28 verse 19 Prove the Trinity?

This verse is a biblical passage and misinterpret with regard to the Trinity doctrine and giving their own conclusion. Jesus is quoted as telling His disciples, "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in ('into,' Greek eis) the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."

remember the important principle that the Bible interprets the Bible. What this particular passage shows us is that the process of baptism involves the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. It is not a description of the nature of God.

Notice Acts 2:38: "Then Peter said to them, 'Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." After real repentance and being baptized, the example from Scripture is that a minister lays his hands on the repentant person and he or she receives the Holy Spirit directly from God (Acts 8:14-17).

Important as it is, baptism alone is not sufficient. We must receive God's Holy Spirit....the seed of eternal life....which is imparted by the biblically mandated laying on of hands of one of God's ministers (Acts 19:1-6). We cannot partake of God's nature, as mentioned in 2 Peter 1:4, without first being begotten of the Father by the Holy Spirit, which imparts that divine nature.

Why are Father, Son and Holy Spirit mentioned in Matthew 28:19? Let us understand. At baptism we enter into a covenant relationship with God the Father. The sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, makes that covenant relationship possible. (Of course, through our repentance and baptism we also enter into a relationship with Jesus Christ as our older Brother and head of the Church.) The Holy Spirit is the means by which the Father and Son make all of this possible.

On another level, God the Father is the One who calls us to baptism and a new way of life (John 6:44, John 6:65), and it is His goodness that leads us to repentance and baptism (Romans 2:4). We know also that Jesus Christ died as a sacrifice for our sins, reconciling us to God (Romans 5:6-11)...baptism picturing our burial with Jesus Christ and our being raised to a new life with Him both now and in the future resurrection (Romans 6:1-5). And God's Holy Spirit, as we will see more in a later chapter, is what makes us God's begotten children (Romans 8:16).

The instruction in Matthew 28:19 presumes that, before being baptized, believers will learn of God the Father, His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. At baptism, these believers enter into a personal family relationship with God the Father and the Son through the Holy Spirit, thereby receiving the name of God (compare Ephesians 3:14-15).

Note again that Father, Son and Holy Spirit are all acknowledged as being involved in this process. But that does not mean all three are divine persons in a Trinity. To claim that Matthew 28:19 establishes one God in three persons goes far beyond the actual words of the verse. And other verses show such a notion to be utterly false. There's no mention in the verse that these 3 are God or trinity, rather the topic is all about baptism and not the trinity. Don't give your own conclusion

2 Peter 3:16
He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.

Trinitarians believe in the trinity, that God is the "Triune God" existing as three persons....God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, but one being. All three are
one in essence

❕❕❕❕But Apostle's admonition, warning and unique way of teaching
👇
1. No prophecy of scripture is a matter of personal interpretation. (II Pt. 1:20)
2. Do not go beyond what is written. (I Cor. 4:6)
3. Do not use words of human wisdom. rather speak words given to us by the Spirit,
using the Spirit's words to explain spiritual truths. (1 Cor. 2:13)

Points to Consider
1. Notice that Jesus Himself is talking in the above verse and He told His disciples: "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit".....Jesus is clearly talking about baptism and not about the Trinity.
2. How can the above verse provide the basis of the Trinity doctrine when the verse do not mention that the three persons are one being or one God? Does mentioning the "name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" in the same verse make them one God? Is that not going beyond what is written and/or personally interpreting the verse?
4. How can the above verse be made as a basis of the the Trinity doctrine when the verse do not even mention any of the Trinitarian elements, that the three persons one in essence?
5. Is the above verse really about the Trinity doctrine or a baptismal formula?

Matthew 28:19
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

As we have noticed, from the verse we quoted. THERE IS NOTHING WRITTEN in the verse that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are One in the Three Gods or called a trinity but this is their common Name.

Our ttrinitarians may argue again and say: It is said NAME and not NAMES, it is singular and plural, so these 3 are one and not distinct beings. Will they be able to get away with this excuse? I'm pretty sure they will use the verses 1 John 5:7 and John 10:30 to prove this claim. But let us first stick to this topic.

Well, it should be noted in the verse, use the preposition word "OF" which refers to the NAME that is common to the THREE, so therefore does not mean that IT IS ONLY ONE NAME.

If we compare this example with the MATHEMATIC PRINCIPLE DISTRIBUTION it is just the same, as in our example....

x (a + b + c) is also equal to xa + xb + xc

x of a, and of b, and of c

= x of a, and x of b, and x of c.

Because they will not deny that "FATHER", "SON", and "HOLY SPIRIT", are NAMES. Because the three of them have a NAME, that means that is COMMON to them, they all have a NAME, but that doesn't mean that THEY HAVE ONLY ONE NAME.

It is clear that it is NOT JUST ONE NAME, but THREE NAMES because the preposition "OF"

But even so, let us remember in their TRINITY that they believe God is the SON and HOLY SPIRIT… So we can ask them now....

WHERE IN THE BIBLE DO WE READ THE TERMS "GOD THE SON" and GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT"?

They cannot answer that, because there is nothing written in the Bible as a basis!

Matthew 28:19 does not in any way introduce the Trinity or the so-called three divine persons of the Godhead. The commandment "baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit" is the baptismal formula prescribed by the Lord. Before Christ ascended to heaven, He had instructed the apostles to go to all peoples everywhere and make them His disciples by baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Thus, the expression is simply a baptismal formula

The Bible makes it clear that the Father is alone God and no other God besides Himself (Isiah 46:9).

The Lord Jesus Christ Himself taught that there is only one true God, the Father, while Christ was sent by God (John 17:1, 3). The Father who sent Christ is distinct from Christ who was sent by the Father. The Holy Spirit, on the other hand, is sent both by the Father and by Christ (John 14:26, 15:26) and is not God.

The teaching that the Holy Spirit is God was only created by the Catholic Church at the Council of Constantinople in 381 A.D. (Discourses on the Apostles' Creed, page 206).

The doctrine of Trinity is unscriptural. In fact, the complete formulation of this teaching was declared only at the 11th Synod of Toledo in 675 A.D. (Fundamental of Catholic Dogma, page 53).

"The term 'Trinity' is not found in Scripture,… The invention of the term is ascribed to Tertullian."(Systematic Theology, page 30)

1 Corinthians 8: 5-6
Although there are so -called gods, whether in heaven or even on earth; as there are many gods ....
But as for us, there is only one God, the Father .... "

The verse says ... "Although there are so -called gods" (God the Son and God the Holy Spirit) but for true Christians, they acknowledge only one God. The verse says ... "But as for us, (true Christians), there is ONLY ONE GOD" who is that? ... "the Father"

Only the FATHER is the only one true God, there is no GOD THE SON AND GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT!

If our trinitarian brothers will still justify, then they will violate the teachings of Scriptures and they will contradict its teachings, we must take note that the Bible has no contradictions. (1 Cor. 2:13)

Apostle Paul's warning! NO OTHER GOSPEL!
Galatians 1:6-8
I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called, you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel, which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God's curse!
