On the sacred day commemorating the parinirvana of the 104th Gaden Tripa, Jetsun Lobsang Tenzin Pelsangpo Rinpoche, the venerable teachers and nuns of Kopan Nunnery gathered to recite the Names of Manjushri and prayers for his swift rebirth.

With heartfelt devotion, we pray for the swift return of this precious master, that his unmistaken reincarnation may appear without delay and continue his enlightened activities for the benefit of the Buddha’s teachings and all sentient beings.

May his holy aspirations be swiftly fulfilled, and may his precious reincarnation return soon to guide countless beings on the path to liberation. 🙏🪷

Journey to Dharamshala 🇮🇳🙏

Today, 18 September 2026, the junior nuns and respected teachers of Kopan Nunnery travelled to Dharamshala, India, to participate in the Nuns’ Jangün Chöe, a month-long Buddhist debate session focusing on Namdrel.

The gathering brings together nuns from more than ten nunneries, providing a precious opportunity for the nuns to engage in rigorous philosophical debate, deepen their understanding of Buddhist teachings, and learn together with fellow nuns.

We wish our nuns and teachers a safe journey and a meaningful and fruitful debate session. May their studies and practice continue to flourish for the benefit of all sentient beings. 🙏

༄༅། རང་དགོན་ཀོ་པན་བཙུན་དགོན་གྱི་ཕྱག་གསོལ་ལྟར་འདི་ལོར་ཡང་དབྱར་གྱི་ནང་དུ་རྣམ་འགྲེལ་ཆོས་ཐོག་ཉིན་ཉི་ཤུ་རྩ་གྲངས་རིང་ཚོགས་ཡོད་པ་དང་། དེ་རིང་ཟླ་བ་༩པའི་ཚེས་༩ཡི་ཉིན་ཆོས་ཐོག་གི་ཉིན་ཐ་མར་དམ་བཅའ་ཆེན་མོ་ཚོགས་བཞིན་པའི་བརྙན་པར་ཞིག་སྤྱན་ལམ་ཞུ།

As every year, the students of Kopan Nunnery once again held the Pramāṇavārttika (Namdrel) debate session for more than 20 days during the Yarney, or summer retreat.

Today, 9 September 2026, we concluded the debate session with the Damchö Chemo (Grand Debate), marking the final day of this year’s intensive study and debate.

Through these days of debate, the students had the opportunity to deepen their understanding, sharpen their reasoning, and strengthen their skills in Buddhist philosophy.

We rejoice in their dedication and perseverance, and may their studies continue to flourish. 🙏

🙏 Prayers for Those Affected by the Devastating Flash Floods

The Sanghas of Kopan Nunnery will be conducting prayers and pujas each week throughout the 49-day period for those who lost their lives and all those affected by the devastating flash floods in Rasuwa, Nepal and Tibet.

As we begin the first week, may the departed find peaceful rebirth, and may those who are grieving and affected receive strength, comfort, and support.

May these prayers bring peace and benefit to all. 🙏

🙏 Extending Support to Those Affected by the Floods

Following the devastating flash floods of 26 August 2026 (Bhadra 10, 2083 B.S.) in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and surrounding districts, several lives were lost, many people remain missing, and numerous families have been left without homes, while countless properties and livelihoods have been severely damaged or destroyed.

As part of the one-door relief collection system initiated by Budhanilkantha Municipality, Kopan Nunnery has provided immediate relief assistance consisting of 40 sacks of rice and 20 sacks of lentils (dal). The relief materials have been handed over to the municipality for distribution to the affected victims and families.

We hope this small contribution offers some comfort and support to those facing this difficult time. 🙏

Our heartfelt prayers, compassion, and solidarity are with all those affected by the floods. May those who have lost their lives rest in peace, and may those affected find strength, safety, and support. 🙏
