This tea estate is also a socially responsible employer. We believe in the upliftment of the Nepali women, hence 95% of our workers are women. Guranse also sponsors the education of several under privileged children, and upkeeps and built a home for the aged in the area. Guranse Tea Estate has helped to uplift the social economy by supporting farmers with training so that individual families can grow and own their own small organic tea gardens, thus giving farmers sustainable livelihoods and strengthening the rural economy. Guranse then buys the leaf from these farmers. By sharing what we know and learn, we have been the catalyst for the adoption of sustainable practices between farmers and ourselves in the area. Previously people from the area went in search of jobs elsewhere. With the establishment of the estate, the factory and training of local farmers, the native and indegenous people are gainfully employed and now prefer to stay home and earn there itself uplifting the entire area. Introducing Dharamshala Division:
The Dharamshala division of Guranse Tea Estate stands out as the largest division, spanning 110 acres. Nestled at an elevation ranging from 4,000 to 5,000 ft, it offers a breathtaking landscape within the tea estate.

However, its unique character is not only defined by its size and elevation but also by the occasional presence of playful but mischievous monkeys (langurs), adding a wild element to the serene tea cultivation surroundings. The division is aptly named "Dharamshala" due to its religious significance to the local community underlining the importance of this land beyond its role in tea cultivation.

Introducing Nigale division:
The second division at Guranse Tea Estate is our Nigale division which is situated at an altitude of 5,000 ft to 6,000 ft. Closest to the factory, this area is surrounded by lush bamboo forests also known as "Nigale" in Nepali, thereby giving the name. This 65-acre division has the largest quantity of AV-2 cultivars which are mainly used for our specialty teas such as our renowned White Tips.

One notable feature that exemplifies the community's connection to the Nigale division is a tale about a mysterious stone featuring the engravings of a serpent and an image believed by locals to depict Lord Shiva. Hence, we donated the land as it became the designated site for a temple, now known as "Bakrakund Pancheshwor Mahadev Mandir". This temple has evolved into a central hub for religious and cultural activities, symbolizing the rich heritage of the region along with its natural beauty.

Introducing Guranse division:
"Guranse” means Rhododendron in Nepali and “Lali-Guranse” (red Rhododendron) is the national flower of Nepal. Guranse is also the name of the place near Dhankuta where our late chairman first started the tea estate in the late 1980s. Situated at an altitude between 4,000ft to 7,500ft, our estate spans across 378 acres divided into three sections, with the first one aptly named Guranse division, giving rise to our identity as "Guranse Tea Estate". Over time, the 64-acre landscape has transformed into luxuriant slopes adorned with tea bushes of different varietals creating a beautiful, picturesque view.

Apart from being the pioneering land for our estate, Guranse division holds utmost significance for being the highest elevation out of the three divisions, making us one of the highest-elevation tea gardens. Beyond its scenic beauty, Guranse Division has proudly extended its reach in collaboration with the local military helping them plant and maintain tea bushes inside the army barrack. Earlier this year, we planted 20,000 new tea bushes in this division to ensure high-quality tea varietals. Stay tuned to learn about our other divisions!
