"I have been an alien in a strange land"
- Exodus 18:3
Moses spoke these words to describe his relationship to the land of Midian where he had lived as a foreigner for forty years, but they carried with them a deeper meaning that could be applied to all of God's people. We are strangers and aliens in a world that we do not understand and which doesn't understand us. We are citizens of the Kingdom
of Heaven and under the authority of the only true King, Jesus Christ. Because of this, we are truly strangers and aliens in any land or country that we happen to be in. Additionally, we are a group of Christians from Boise, Idaho who are going to Amsterdam in the hopes that God will create opportunities for us to share the good news of Jesus to the people of Amsterdam. "These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth. For people who speak thus make it clear that they are seeking a homeland. If they had been thinking of that land from which they had gone out, they would have had opportunity to return. But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city. "
