Prophetic Word
We continually keep Jesus before us as our example and inspiration.
The course of His earthly life was completely subordinate to the will of God, and this dedication shaped Him in His ministry and culminated in His sacrifice on the cross.
How can we embody Jesus’ example in our own lives?
John 7:17 says:
‘If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.’
John 7:17 KJV
If someone chooses to do God’s will, he or she will discover whether Jesus speaks from himself.
Many believers underestimate the function of the will in their spiritual life.
Many are guided primarily by impressions, feelings, and impulses.
Yet the direction of our lives is ultimately determined by the exercise of our will.
The will is the decisive factor.
We cannot live a righteous life if we do not want to live a righteous life.
Jesus challenges us with this challenge:
Do you have the will to do God's will…..
If we do not accept this challenge, a righteous and pure life will never happen.
A righteous life does not come about through inspiration, special preaching or because someone prays for us.
No, there must come a moment in our lives when we make a personal decision.
The word decision is the key word.
We must personally decide: "I am going to do God's will".
Jesus then says: "If someone is going to do God's will, he will discover that My teaching comes from God."
It is important to understand that we do not first 'discover' and then 'want'.
No, it works the other way around.
Many people change the order.
These people say: "Lord, show me everything first, then I will do what you say".
But that is not how it works.
If you want to know for the sake of knowing, simply out of intellectual curiosity, then you have come to the wrong place with God.
God will not reveal His will to you.
The willingness to commit yourself first is an absolute prerequisite.
But if you truly desire to do God’s will, then insight, understanding and revelation will enter your life.
In other words, commitment leads to understanding, not the other way around.
You do not start with an intellectual understanding of God’s will and then commit yourself to it.
No, you commit yourself first, and then God begins to unfold His will to your committed mind.
There comes a point in everyone’s life when he or she must make a firm decision: “I decide to do God’s will.”
In this context, there is no “if” or “maybe”...that is not commitment.
Be blessed
