A warm onion for an earache 🧅
Barbara O’Neill demonstrates a traditional home remedy using a cooked onion as a warm compress for ear discomfort.
The onion is steamed or baked until soft, then wrapped in several layers of cloth and allowed to cool to a comfortable temperature before being placed over the ear. The warmth can provide soothing comfort.
She also demonstrates using a small amount of the warm onion juice in the ear. Important: liquids should not be placed in the ear if there may be a perforated eardrum, ear tubes, drainage, or an injury to the ear.
Traditional remedies can provide comfort, but persistent or severe ear pain, fever, hearing loss, or discharge should be medically assessed.
