The Cost of the Cross
Carrying the cross is more than a symbol. It requires responsibility, humility, surrender, and ultimately dying to self.
Through the examples of David (2 Samuel 6), we learn that God’s presence cannot be handled carelessly. Priestly responsibility must be carried according to God’s instruction. Your spiritual responsibility shouldn’t be transferred to systems, as seen in 2 Samuel 6 (a cart on wheels).
Through 2 Chronicles 7:14 and Matthew 15:26-28, we see that humility is a prerequisite for experiencing God’s favor. God responds to hearts that are willing to bow before Him.
Genesis 2:21 reminds us that Adam’s deepest sleep gave birth to one of God’s greatest creations. In the same way, when we die to our own desires, ambitions, and pride, God can bring forth something far greater through us.
The message is clear: it makes no sense to carry the cross if you are not willing to die on it. True discipleship is not about appearance. It is about surrendering your life so that God’s purpose can be fully revealed through you.
Key takeaway:
What God can produce through your surrender is greater than anything you can achieve through self-preservation.
