It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Rev. Fr. Allan Taylor, who departed peacefully this evening at his home.

Rev. Fr. Allan faithfully served St. James Episcopal Church for 38 years, dedicating his life to the service of God and His people.

We give thanks for his faithful ministry, spiritual leadership, and the lasting impact he made on countless lives throughout the years.

During this time of sorrow, we ask that you keep his family in your prayers.

Burial arrangements will be announced at a later time.

Give rest, O Christ, to your servant with your saints, where sorrow and pain are no more, neither sighing, but life everlasting.

Today the Church remembers Mark the Evangelist, the writer of the Gospel that bears his name.

Mark’s Gospel calls readers to see clearly who Jesus is and to follow him with faith and perseverance. It does not avoid difficulty or suffering, but speaks honestly about the cost of discipleship and the need to remain steadfast in uncertain times.

As we remember Mark, we are invited to hold fast to the good news and to live it out with courage and faith.

Scripture reading: Mark 13:10–11

‘And the good news must first be proclaimed to all nations.

When they bring you to trial and hand you over, do not worry beforehand about what you are to say; but say whatever is given you at that time, for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit.’

Prayer

Faithful God,
you call us to follow Christ with courage and truth.
Strengthen us to remain steadfast
when the path is difficult or uncertain.
Give us grace to trust in your Spirit
and to bear witness to the good news
in all that we say and do.
