*TEXT: MICAH 6:9-16*

9: Listen! The LORD is calling to the city — and to fear your name is wisdom — "Heed the rod and the One who appointed it.

10: Am I still to forget your ill-gotten treasures, you wicked house, and the short ephah, which is accursed?

11: Shall I acquit someone with dishonest scales, with a bag of false weights?

12: Your rich people are violent; your inhabitants are liars and their tongues speak deceitfully.

13: Therefore, I have begun to destroy you, to ruin you because of your sins.

14: You will eat but not be satisfied; your stomach will still be empty. You will store up but save nothing, because what you save I will give to the sword.

15: You will plant but not harvest; you will press olives but not use the oil, you will crush grapes but not drink the w**e.

16: You have observed the statutes of Omri and all the practices of Ahab’s house; you have followed their traditions. Therefore I will give you over to ruin and your people to derision; you will bear the scorn of the nations. "

*_TOPIC: THE LORD'S RESPONSE TO REPENTANT ISRAEL; NEED FOR VALUED WORSHIP AND A GODLY LIFE_*


It has been observed that prior to this moment, many worshippers attempted to bypass true repentance and self-surrender to God.

Prophet Micah reminded the faithful remnant that valued and acceptable worship is essential. True worship must include presenting their bodies as living sacrifices (cf. Romans 12:12).

The people addressed in this passage were called to a life of worship in holiness because God is holy.

Today, just as in the days of Prophet Micah, believers have often abandoned biblical standards of morality, turning instead to dishonesty and deceit.

As we study the Word of God together, we should not wait until calamity befalls us, as it did the people of Israel, before seeking repentance. God requires a true and living faith that manifests itself through obedience.

There is a call for valid and valued worship, as well as a godly life for believers in our churches and society.

*_QUESTION:_* _Are you sure that you are worshipping God in holiness? Are you certain you have a true and living faith?_

*_WEDNESDAY, 14 OCTOBER_*
*TEXT: MICAH 6:1-8*

1: Listen to what the LORD says: "Stand up, plead my case before the mountains; let the hills hear what you have to say.

2: "Hear, you mountains, the LORD’s accusation; listen, you everlasting foundations of the earth. For the LORD has a case against his people; he is lodging a charge against Israel.

3: "My people, what have I done to you? How have I burdened you? Answer me.

4: I brought you up out of Egypt and redeemed you from the land of slavery. I sent Moses to lead you, also Aaron and Miriam.

5: My people, remember what Balak king of Moab plotted and what Balaam son of Beor answered. Remember your journey from Sh*ttim to Gilgal, that you may know the righteous acts of the LORD."

6: With what shall I come before the LORD and bow down before the exalted God? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old?

7: Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of olive oil? Shall I offer my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?

8: He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

*_TOPIC: THE LORD'S CASE AGAINST UNGRATEFUL PEOPLE_*

In today's text, the Prophet Micah illustrates how God's mercy has been extended to Israel since the Exodus and conquest.

God is bringing a case against His people for their faithlessness and ingratitude. The people were attempting to claim that God is not just, yet they could not provide any evidence of wrongdoing on His part.

Micah reminds them of God's mercies and deliverance from dangers and enemies since the days of Moses and Aaron (verses 3-5). Despite this, the people responded to God's grace with ingratitude instead of expressing their thanks (verses 6-7).

What does God expects from them, and from believers today? Gratitude. Remembering God's past deliverances strengthens our personal faith.

Verse 8 summarizes what the Lord requires from His people. He asks for three things: Justice (Isaiah 42:1), Kindness—love expressed through action—and humility.

*_QUESTION: Why are you not grateful for all that God has done for you?_*

*_PRAYER_ :* _Oh Lord, help me to remember all Your past deliverances. Aid me in being grateful to You always and help me to offer an acceptable sacrifice by walking humbly with You._

Let us be mindful of how we live in this world, for our time here is temporary. Live a life that pleases God, love one another, and always remember that one day, we will give account of our lives before Him.

*_TUESDAY, 13 OCTOBER_*
*TEXT: MICAH 5:6-15*

6: who will rule the land of Assyria with the sword, the land of Nimrod with drawn sword. He will deliver us from the Assyrians when they invade our land and march across our borders.

7: The remnant of Jacob will be in the midst of many peoples like dew from the LORD, like showers on the grass, which do not wait for anyone or depend on man.

8: The remnant of Jacob will be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, like a lion among the beasts of the forest, like a young lion among flocks of sheep, which mauls and mangles as it goes, and no one can rescue.

9: Your hand will be lifted up in triumph over your enemies, and all your foes will be destroyed.

10: "In that day," declares the LORD, "I will destroy your horses from among you and demolish your chariots.

11: I will destroy the cities of your land and tear down all your strongholds.

12: I will destroy your witchcraft and you will no longer cast spells.

13: I will destroy your idols and your sacred stones from among you; you will no longer bow down to the work of your hands.

14: I will uproot from among you your Asherah poles when I demolish your cities.

15: I will take vengeance in anger and wrath on the nations that have not obeyed me."

*_TOOIC: PURGING FROM IDOLATRY RESULTS IN THE TRIUMPH OF GOD'S PEOPLE_*

The people of God have been rescued and gathered, and God has fulfilled His promise of establishing a divine-human ruler over them, bringing peace to the nation. They have been purged of idolatry.

In this passage, we see the triumph of God's faithful remnant in action. Verses 7 and 8 depict the people after this purging from idolatry.

While they will not be completely removed from society, they will interact with the people at various levels. They will be a blessing to some, like dew refreshing the earth, and a source of fear to others, like a lion.

A distinct sign of the triumph of God's faithful remnant is that they will no longer foolishly worship the idols they created. They will truly become a new people of God.

*_PRAYER:_* _Oh Lord, please purge me from every sin that would prevent me from being gathered with Your people in the end. Amen._
