What a beautiful night to be Catholic!
Thousands of pilgrims gathered at the Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes for its beloved candlelight procession, carrying candles, praying the Rosary, and following Our Lady through a sea of light.
Tonight, Pope Leo XIV was not only present as the Holy Father, but as a pilgrim among pilgrims, joining the faithful in prayer for the Church and the whole world.
The candlelight Rosary procession is a daily tradition in Lourdes from but tonight was especially historic: Pope Leo XIV became the third pope to take part in it, following St. John Paul II and Benedict XVI.

Today the Church celebrates three of the most important figures in salvation history.

Michael the warrior. Gabriel the messenger. Raphael the healer.

They are not metaphors. The Church has always taught that angels are real, personal and active in our lives. The Catechism describes them as 'spiritual, non-corporeal beings' who serve God and accompany us.

The feast of Michael, Gabriel and Raphael, 29 September, is one of the oldest in the Western Church. It is also called Michaelmas.

PRAYER FOR CHILDREN RESUMING SCHOOL 🙏

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit 🙏

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of our children and for bringing them safely to the beginning of another school term. We commit every child returning to school into Your loving hands.

Lord, go before them and guide their footsteps. Protect them from accidents, sickness, danger, bad influences, bullying, and every form of harm. Surround them with Your angels and keep them safe wherever they go.
Give them wisdom, understanding, good memory, and the ability to learn and understand everything they are taught. Help them to be disciplined, respectful, hardworking, obedient, and kind to their teachers and fellow students.

Bless their teachers with patience, wisdom, and dedication. May they teach with love and guide the children in the right direction.

Lord, keep our children away from negative friendships and influences. Give them good friends who will encourage them to do what is right and help them grow in knowledge, character, and faith.

Bless every parent and guardian with the strength and resources to provide for their children's education. May no child lack the books, school fees, uniforms, food, or other necessities needed for a successful education.

Most especially, Lord, deepen their love for You. Protect their hearts, minds, and future. May they excel in their studies and become responsible, successful, and God-fearing men and women.

As they resume school, may Your presence remain with them every day. Bring them home safely after every school day, and at the end of this term, may we have every reason to return to You with thanksgiving and testimonies.

We place every child, teacher, parent, and school in the Immaculate Heart of Mary. May the Blessed Virgin Mary protect and guide our children always.

The "Anima Christi" is a beautiful prayer that dates back to the Middle Ages. It's even more beautiful when put to music, and more beautiful *still* when that music is sung by Sr. Miriam, Sr. Maria Karol, and Sr. Mariana!

This prayer is perfect for the Easter season and Divine Mercy Sunday because it asks Jesus to make Himself present to us in a close and even physical way.

Here is a translation of the Latin:

Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.

O good Jesus, hear me.
Within Thy wounds hide me.

Father Brent Bowman explains the reason behind his Eucharistic experience.

To the good people of God:

Praise be Jesus Christ, now and forever!

On Monday, September 14, I celebrated the Holy Mass for the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Hopkins, MN. Present were Chesterton Academy students, faculty and staff and parishioners of the parish. During the Mass, I had a private spiritual experience while praying the Eucharistic prayer over the bread and w**e and I want to humbly share and clarify what I experienced all for God’s glory and praise. In doing so, I also want to correct any misinformation as the Mass recording is being shared online.

To clarify up front, my experience was NOT what the Catholic Church considers a “Eucharistic miracle.” The forms of bread and w**e retained their accidents (i.e., their appearance and taste) during this entire experience. Never did I see real blood or human flesh with my eyes.

My experience was this:

During the consecration prayer over the w**e at the altar, as I spoke the words, I was given what I believe to be internal knowledge of the power of these words being spoken and the reality of their effect to the point that I had difficult speaking. With each word, I became more physically overwhelmed as seen in the video. At the same time, I was given sensory knowledge of the weight of God’s power coming down upon the altar, and I felt the heaviness of Jesus’s substantial presence in the chalice in my hands. The chalice became too heavy to hold as I felt it pulled down to rest upon the altar. I felt my hands fixed to the chalice of the Precious Blood, and I could not physically move it. Attempting to elevate the Precious Blood, which I was not able to do for a period of time, I believe I was given grace to understand more deeply the bitter sweetness of Our Lord’s Passion and how much blood Christ shed for the immense weight of all our sins. I believe I experienced this weight in the chalice. This spiritual experience emotionally and physically overwhelmed me as evident in the Mass recording.

Lastly, private spiritual encounters with God like these are completely unmerited gifts and signs of God’s abundant love for all his people. They are not necessarily signs of any person’s holiness.

I pray this brief testimony moves all our hearts to contemplate more deeply the mysteries of the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist and the Precious Blood.
