HISTORY OF RCF A.B.U ZARIA
RCF ABU Zaria started sometime in 1994 when some group of brethren headed by BroRCF ABU Zaria started sometimes in 1994 when some group of brethren headed by Bro Bunmi (First President of RCF) came together to start the fellowship since there was no RCCG in Zaria at that time. These Brethren started meeting once a week in a room at Suleiman Hall from where they moved to
the classes in old Remedial School (now Faculty of Social Science). Out of passion to have RCCG in Zaria, these brethren with other notable people in Zaria among whom is our Patron, Dr Mosimabale started the first RCCG in Zaria Hotel (now Flourishing Parish). Based on the constitution of RCF which gives room for students to conduct their own Sunday Service on campus, RCF kicked off its own Sunday Service on campus in 1997. Over the past years, RCF went through trying times that prepared her for a glorious future. It went through the depth and apex of challenges to the point when her past Heroes felt like terminating a whole train carrying the destiny of many. These made us realize that there is just a thin line between success and failure. That is, the courage to pick up again when we find ourselves on the floor. Thank God for Heroes of faith (past RCF Presidents) who held tight to the anchor we discovered from scriptures and it has proven to be our saving grace. Above all, we give thanks to our Almighty God who has been moving RCF Zaria from strength to strength to be one of the largest Student Fellowship on campus. RCF ABU Zaria for so much account we can give of Pastor Bode who presided over the house for three consecutive tenures. According to confirmed sources, in the face of challenges and hard times, this man never gave up but stood his grounds because he believed in what God was doing. It was the beginning of the Vet. Dynasty as it′s been called in RCF leadership. After Pastor Bode, who proved to be a leader with foresight as he not only led but trained leaders. Femi Samuel took over from Bro. Bode then a student of the Department of Microbiology and also the first of the science span of RCF presidency. He did well in his time to train one of the most famous presidents RCF ever had in the person of Dr. John Femi Kayode (with a coincidental acronym JFK). The house of RCF began to experience the unprecedented growth of its time as his leadership saw a hovering turn around spanning two tenures. Its worthy of note that at that time, membership hit all time height of 1000 students cut across different religious background. As this trend continued, Bro. Ada Ochwowechi also an Animal health specialist led the house when all manner of persecution and maneuvers from the powers that be, came the way of the RCF House to leave their place of worship and in the long run be dissolved; but as God may have it for He had built the house deep into a rock that at the time the billows of attack came, we were not moved but rather stimulated for a better repositioning of an enviable height of enigma. Jonathan Yohanna Ezekiel took over the batton from Dr. Ada and continued the good works as the attempt by Bro Ada to purchase a land was made possible; this project ran into millions of Naira. To add a feature to our already crowded head, a bus was given to us by the Christ Redeemers Ministry an arm of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Lagos. It was in this just ended tenure of 2008/2009 Spiritual session that we were involved in deals running to millions of Naira. In 2009/2010 session an enviable chemist Elijah Jossou who painstakinly was building the virtues and values for this vision, building the church on leadership, and finance equiping the mind for the future. And then 2010/2011 session came. The energetic Olugbenga Gideon a physiologist who brought God's children to the great knowledge of the word, he constantly affirmed that the word is the building block for the spirit, hence get the word and get life. Joel Dabbas of Veterinary Medicine department came on board as the president of the 2011/2012 session. A man full of insights and passionate to see the total well being of student met; he prepared a good platform for the first Engineering student president of the house to take over. Etoma Etakoh of department of Mechanical Engineering stepped into the heroic shoes for the 2012/2013 spiritual session. Ensuring that an average RCF member had the basic knowledge of the Christian faith and scriptural principles was his drive and passion. As you are part of history in making, it′s no gainsaying that these men did not act alone as people were there as partners in progress. We enjoin you to take this great shot to be in this enviable position of partnership for you are the possibility of something, because until you act; nothing actually moves. This is a seed for it will surely speak in the future. Enjoy the best of times! HEROES OF FAITH (PAST RCF PRESIDENTS)
