CHAMPIONS FAST JUNE EDITION’26 (DAY II)
TOPIC: SEASONS OF DIVINE ASSISTANCE
ANCHOR SCRIPTURE (S): LUKE 5:3-8
MINISTERING: REV. MUSA OJOCHOKO
DATE: 2nd, JUNE’26
Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon's, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat. When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, "Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch." But Simon answered and said to Him, "Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless, at Your word I will let down the net." And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. So they signalled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, "Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!" (Luke 5:3-8, NKJV).
INTRODUCTION
Brethren, there are seasons in life when human strength, wisdom, resources, influence, and connections are not enough. As we journey through life, there will be moments when what we know will not be enough, what we have will not be enough, and even the people around us may not have enough capacity to help us. In such moments, God steps in to assist, help, sustain, preserve, and deliver His people.
Whosoever you are, no matter what you possess, there will come a time in your life when you will need help from God. God never created any mortal man to be independent of Him. He designed us in such a way that we would continually look unto Him for help and assistance.
That is why when people walk away from God, they often walk into danger. Distance from God equals nearness to danger. The Psalmist understood this reality when he cried after God as the deer pants for water. Jesus taught us to pray, “Give us this day our daily bread,” because every day we need divine assistance.
Nothing in you is sufficient to carry you successfully to the end of life's journey without God. Wisdom, therefore, demands that we continually depend upon Him. We need divine assistance.
Before we proceed further, there is something important to understand. Sometimes fear, anxiety, disappointment, and painful experiences affect our ability to perceive God's presence and workings.
Jacob experienced this. After deceiving his brother and fleeing for his life, fear filled his heart. He arrived at a place where God was present, yet he did not initially recognise it. His emotions had been manipulated by fear. Many believers experience the same thing today. God is moving, but because fear has clouded their perception, they cannot discern His hand.
Therefore, whenever you come before God, open your heart. Believe that He is able to move at any moment. Even when it appears a service is ending, God can still step into your situation and change your story.
WHAT IS DIVINE ASSISTANCE?
1. Divine Assistance Is a Spiritual Force or Power Bestowed Upon a Man by God to Overcome Obstacles and Mountains of Life
Divine assistance is a spiritual force, a heavenly empowerment, and a grace released upon a person by God to overcome the challenges and mountains of life. Life is full of battles and challenges. Whether you like it or not, the enemy seeks opportunities to trouble people. There are invisible forces that oppose progress, advancement, and fulfilment. Many battles are fought behind the scenes where human eyes cannot see.
However, when a person becomes a candidate of divine help, those forces lose their power. Divine assistance enables a man to overcome obstacles that would ordinarily stop him. Zechariah 4:7-8 says:
Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel, you shall become a plain! And he shall bring forth the capstone With shouts of "Grace, grace to it!" Moreover, the word of the LORD came to me, saying: (Zechariah 4:7-8, NKJV).
Every mountain before your destiny can become a plain when divine assistance comes. It is one thing to be blessed; it is another thing to have God defending the blessing. One of God's greatest blessings is not merely material provision but His continuous intervention in preserving what He has given you.
Satan and his agents hate good things. Whenever good things begin to appear in a person's life, opposition often rises. Many people can testify that immediately, positive changes started occurring around them, and strange resistance emerged. But through divine assistance, every opposition shall be overcome.
2. Divine Assistance Is a Special Grace Released by God to Produce Outstanding Results
Divine assistance is a special grace released upon a man by God for the purpose of producing extraordinary results and exploits that attract attention to God. When Jesus intervened in Peter's life, the result was so remarkable that it became impossible for people to ignore. His miracle affected his partners, his neighbours, and eventually brought him into a deeper relationship with Christ. Luke 5:6-7 says:
And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink (Luke 5:6-7, NKJV)
There is a dimension of divine assistance that produces results beyond explanation. At that level, you may not need to preach many sermons. Your testimony becomes your message. People begin to ask questions because they can see God's hand upon your life. May God assist you in such a way that your results will speak for His glory.
3. Divine Assistance Is God's Supernatural Intervention in the Affairs of His Children
Divine assistance is God's supernatural involvement in human situations. It is God stepping into circumstances that appear impossible and changing the outcome. When human effort reaches its limit, divine assistance begins. When human solutions fail, God introduces His solution. The God who intervened for Peter is still intervening for His people today.
WHAT ARE THE SEASONS FOR DIVINE ASSISTANCE?
It is important to understand the difference between "seasons of divine assistance" and "seasons for divine assistance." A season of divine assistance refers to a period when God has determined to help His people.
A season for divine assistance refers to situations, conditions, or experiences that provoke or activate divine intervention. Many believers complain about difficult seasons without realising that those very situations may be activating their season of divine assistance.
1. Season of Overwhelming Need
An overwhelming need is a situation beyond your ability to solve. It is a condition where human strength, wisdom, and resources are exhausted. When Israel stood before the Red Sea, they faced an overwhelming need. Behind them was Pharaoh's army; before them was the sea. Exodus 14:13-14 says:
And Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace (Exodus 14:13-14, NKJV).
Whenever you find yourself overwhelmed, do not give up. Do not complain. Divine assistance may be closer than you think. Often, people become discouraged at the very moment when God is preparing to intervene. Job experienced overwhelming need, yet God eventually restored him. When overwhelming need comes, remember that help may already be on the way
2. Season of Enemy Hostility And Gang-Up
There are times when opposition rises from every direction. Hostility, accusations, resistance, conspiracies, and attacks may seem overwhelming. David experienced this. Saul pursued him relentlessly. The machinery of a kingdom was deployed against one man. Yet David declared:
I will lift up my eyes to the hills-- From whence comes my help? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth (Psalm 121:1-2, NKJV).
Daniel experienced organised opposition. The three Hebrew boys faced governmental hostility. Yet divine assistance preserved them. Whenever the enemy’s hostility increases, do not retreat in fear. Divine assistance is near
3. Season of Enemy’s Confrontation
Enemy confrontation occurs when forces of darkness openly challenge your progress, peace, destiny, or faith. Jehoshaphat experienced this when multiple nations gathered against Judah. 2 Chronicles 20:1-2 records that:
"A great multitude is coming against you from beyond the sea, from Syria; and they are in Hazazon Tamar" (which is En Gedi) (2 Chronicles 20:1-2, NKJV).
What happened next? Divine assistance arrived. God confused the enemies, and they destroyed one another. Whenever confrontation increases, remember that God specialises in fighting battles His people cannot fight
4. Season of Pains and Afflictions
Pain and affliction are often platforms upon which God demonstrates His mercy and power. Consider the man at the Pool of Bethesda who remained afflicted for thirty-eight years. Humanly speaking, his situation appeared hopeless. Yet Jesus located him.
Many people today are carrying pains nobody knows about. Some carry physical pain, emotional pain, financial pain, marital pain, or secret afflictions. The good news is that God sees, God knows, and God hears. If you continue to trust Him and pray, divine assistance will locate you
5. Season of Shortage and Scarcity
Scarcity often creates an atmosphere where divine provision can be revealed. When resources diminish and opportunities appear limited, many become anxious and fearful.
Yet throughout Scripture, God repeatedly demonstrated His ability to provide during seasons of scarcity. He fed Elijah during the famine. He multiplied the widow's oil. He supplied manna in the wilderness. Shortage is not necessarily evidence of abandonment. Sometimes it is preparation for a divine visitation
6. Season of Hopelessness
.. and saw two boats standing by the lake; but the fishermen had gone from them and were washing their nets (Luke 5:2, NKJV).
Luke 5:2 tells us that the fishermen had washed their nets. That simple statement carries deep meaning. They had finished work. They had accepted failure. They had concluded that nothing more could be done. The boats were not the problem. The nets were not the problem. The fishermen were not the problem.
What they lacked was divine assistance. Many people today are in similar situations. They have done everything they know to do. They have reached the point of hopelessness. Yet it was at that exact moment that Jesus appeared. When hopelessness surrounds you, remember that the Helper of men is still at work
7. Season of Prayer and Supplication
Prayer is one of the strongest platforms for divine assistance. Psalm 50:15 says:
Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me (Psalm 50:15, NKJV)
God responds to genuine cries from His children. Prayer attracts divine intervention. Prayer invites heavenly assistance into earthly situations. Whenever trouble arises, do not stop praying. Continue calling upon God
8. Season of Helplessness
Helplessness differs from hopelessness. Hopelessness is when a person has abandoned expectation. Helplessness is when a person still desires a breakthrough but lacks the capacity to produce it. Peter expressed helplessness when he said:
"Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless, at Your word I will let down the net" (Luke 5:5, NKJV).
They had worked. They had tried. They had exhausted their expertise. Yet results were absent. Many people are in that condition today. They are not lazy. They are not careless. They have genuinely laboured. But divine assistance is what converts labour into results
9. Season of Storm of Life
Storms come in different forms. Some storms attack health. Some attack finances. Some attack marriages. Some attack faith. In Mark 4:37-39, the disciples faced a violent storm. Their boat was filling with water, and destruction seemed imminent. Then Jesus arose and spoke:
"Peace, be still!" And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm (Mark 4:37-39, NKJV)..
No matter the storm around you, divine assistance can silence it.
10. Season of Forgiveness and Mercy
Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. And when he had begun to settle accounts, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. But as he was not able to pay, his master commanded that he be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and that payment be made (Matthew 18:23-35, NKJV).
Many people need divine assistance because of mistakes, failures, and wrong decisions. The parable of the unforgiving servant teaches us that mercy opens doors that judgment would otherwise close. God's assistance often flows through His mercy. Whenever we humble ourselves, seek forgiveness, and extend forgiveness to others, we position ourselves for divine intervention.
CONCLUSION
Beloved, no matter who you are or what you possess, you still need divine assistance. There will be moments when your strength will not be enough, your wisdom will not be enough, your experience will not be enough, and your resources will not be enough.
At such times, remember that God remains the Helper of men. The God who helped Moses before Pharaoh, who helped Daniel in Babylon, who helped Esther in the palace, who helped Joseph in Egypt, and who helped Peter at the Sea of Galilee is still helping His people today. Whatever season you may be passing through – whether it is overwhelming need, enemy hostility, confrontation, pain, scarcity, hopelessness, helplessness, or the storms of life – God is able to assist you.
Kindly observe the following prayer points tonight between 11:30 P.M. and 3:00 A.M. Remain blessed.
