NEW YEAR 2026 ADDRESS FROM THE NATIONAL COORDINATOR OF THE APOSTOLIC CHURCH STUDENTS FELLOWSHIP OF NIGERIA (TACSFON)
My dearly Beloved One Big Family !
Grace, mercy and peace be multiplied unto you in the name of Jesus Christ. I welcome you all into the year 2026 with a sincere heart full of gratitude to God for His faithfulness, preservation and guidance over our lives. I thank God who started and has ended 2025 with us well.
As a Family, we have made certain achievements over the years, particularly in 2025, which we have finished strong and the Lord wants us to consolidate our gains in the race and struggles, hence the call : Building on the Sure Foundation Corinthians 3:11.
Today, as we mark the first day commencing the year 2026, the Lord has placed on our hearts the theme "Building on the Sure Foundation.” This is a clarion, active, positive and timeless call that resonates our faith in Christ as an individual /family. He alone is the unshakable Rock on which true life, ministry and character must be built. As Scripture declares, “no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” (1 Cor. 3:11).He is the Chief Cornerstone (Ephesians 2:20)
What's building on the Sure Foundation ?
This envisages a life that is designed, defined and constructed not on a sinking, shaking or shifting sands but on Christ, the solid Rock; a life relationship or pattern not based on emotions, sentiments, sensual knowledge, circumstances or weakling spots . It is a life process and action effected on an immovable and unshakable stand. It calls for wise actions by a wise builder (Matt. 7:24-27) A wise man builds on the Rock where storms cannot bring it down. A wise builder thinks of spiritual matters that pleases God. Do you know what? The foundation has already been laid.
Building is an ongoing process that requires lots of actions. It involves choosing (choice) what to build on the foundation; how, when, why and where to build; using adaptive, active and competent labour; using quality materials and refusing sub standards for effective construction; building
According to the Family pattern as enunciated in the Holy Scriptures. It is not just hearing the word or answering the name BUT doing the word, living and acting the Word intentionally always.
Competent and active actions will make our building effective, strong and reliable as it is firmly rooted and rests on the Sure Foundation. We, as the builders shall be like Mount Zion that cannot be moved. Our structure (Faith) resting on Christ and made of standard materials would be able to weather the storms of life and billows shall cease to roll. To build on Christ, however does not mean or seek to exclude us from storms of LIFE BUT RATHER ASSURES AND ENSURES THAT WE ARE NOT DESTROYED BY THEM, for great is the Holy One in the midst of TACSFON. Please refer to the timeless song by Edward Mote, "My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus ' blood and righteousness"...
The Family has no doubt as to Who constitutes the Sure Foundation and why it is sure. Our God is eternal and by himself laid the foundations of the earth. Therefore, we shall not fear, though the earth is turned upside down. He remains the Sure Foundation from age to age and THOU ART GOD.
WHAT MANNER OF PERSONS SHOULD WE BE IN THE FAMILY AS BUILDERS ?
Building on Christ implies several vital attributes such as IMUTABILITY, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. We must wholly rely and trust in Him alone, NOT being carried away by divers waves of doctrine or self seeking; INTEGRITY, Christ is a true and level foundation providing the moral and spiritual standard for our lives.; SUSTAINABILITY, SUPPORT, Christ our Sure Foundation carries the entire weight of our lives as we build ourselves on Him, hence we can cast our burdens on Him and be rest assured.; PERMANENCY, as often sung, shall be permanent what the Lord has done... Christ our Sure Foundation differs from every other foundation laid by mortal elements. Since our foundation is permanent and eternal, as we truly and faithfully build on the eternal Rock of our salvation then our hope is permanent and eternal beyond this physical life.
BUILDING on the foundation means working upon the biblical standard and godly values that form and sustain a strong believer: rooted in sound doctrine, holy living, Christ-likeness, and unwavering dependence on God. It is a daily commitment to do what the Word teaches and to live by the truth in every sphere of life endeavors - in our studies, leadership, relationships and service.
WHAT DO YOU BUILD ON THE FOUNDATION
'Now if any build upon this foundation is gold, silver, precious stones, wood,hay, stubble; Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he has built there upon, he shall receive a reward . If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved, yet so as by fire.' 1 Cor. 3:12-15. This is clear and easily understood, for God is not a respecter of persons.
Be careful of what foundation that you build on.
Not every foundation is solid, some are built on shifting sands: convenience, culture, selfish ambition, ungodly or mere tradition. We must be discerning. The quality of every structure, every life, ministry or reputation is determined by what it is built upon. Let us therefore be intentional in serving the Lord: if what we build is to last through trials, it must rest squarely on Christ and His Word, not on feelings, shortcuts, or the approval of men.
Attribute of the Foundation We Must Build On:
As we build, let us deliberately put these elements into our mind. The character of the sure foundation is exhibited in His nature, attributes.
i. Foundation of Holiness: A life set apart for God, away from compromise and sin; true repentance and obedience that honours the Lord. Holiness unto the Lord. Be holy for I am holy. Without holiness no man shall see God.
ii. Foundation of Love: The sacrificial, patient, truthful love that binds us together and drives our service to God. (John 13:34–35). God is love, he that loves is of God. Let there be love without dissimulation. Let brotherly love continue.
iii. Unity: Genuine oneness in purpose and spirit; we must labour to keep the bond of peace and guard against division. Ps. 133:1, Ephesians 4:2-7.
Each of these is a spiritual block laid carefully, prayerfully and consistently so that our fellowship and individual lives will rise and rest on a secured, God-honouring foundation.
THE EFFECT OF BUILDING ON THIS FOUNDATION
When we build on Christ in godliness, we will not be shaken. The Psalmist assures us: “They that trust in the LORD shall be as Mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.” (Psalm 125:1). If we build on the Sure Foundation, TACSFON will stand firm in trials, rooted in hope,bold in testimony and fruitful in service of our Master.
Beloved, TACSFON , One Big Family is created and connected in purpose and destiny. The Family is the only valid signature of unity and love personified in our national church. We can't fail or disappoint God.
CONCLUSION
As we begin this year, let us build with wisdom, prayer and diligence. Let our lives display holiness and love. Let our leadership show integrity and unity. Let our fellowship demonstrate synergy and a passion for the lost. May God renew our zeal for Him, deepen our fellowship with one another, and use us mightily for His glory.
I pray that this year will be marked by divine direction, spiritual depth, academic excellence and uncommon grace for each one of us .Together, let us build the Family firmly, faithfully and fearlessly on the Foundation that cannot fail. Let's be devoted and committed to the cause of the Family.
Beloved, I therefore enjoin you as the year 2026 has commenced, let us individually and collectively as a Family build our hope, trust righteousness on Christ, the Church Sure Foundation and you/we shall not see shame or reproach. As the year 2026 progresses, be mindful of what your life builds on the Sure Foundation. The year 2026, the Lord shall be glorified in our lives entirely.
