REPORT ON THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE SYNOD – DAY TWO
The second day of the Synod began at 7:00 a.m. with Matins, which opened with the Processional Hymn: SS&S 894.
The Psalm for the day was Psalm 23.
The Old Testament Reading, taken from 2 Kings 10:18–28, was read by Rev. Yahaya Dan’asabe, while the New Testament Reading from Matthew 20:18–21 followed.
The Hymn for the Sermon was A&M 202.
Sermon
The sermon was delivered by Ven. Chris, representing The Most Rev. Alexander Ibezim, Archbishop and Bishop of Awka Diocese. The sermon text was taken from Matthew 28:18–20.
Ven. Chris began by reminding the Synod that the command to “go” as given in the Bible is not for everyone, but for those who are prepared and ready to do the work of God. He emphasized that when God sends a person to a place, the necessary resources are already provided, though every location has its own peculiar challenges.
He noted that grace makes life easier, citing Genesis 28:15, where God assured Jacob of His presence and protection. He pointed out that many people waste their energy fighting enemies instead of focusing on their divine mission.
He added that God is not looking for perfect men but for willing vessels. The divine statement “I will be with you” applies only to those who are on a mission for God. He asked the Synod, “Are you on a mission? What are you doing with your life?”
He further stressed that purpose is what makes the difference in a person’s life, stating that a man with a mission cannot easily be brought down because his mission sustains him. He concluded that the promise ‘I will be with you’ is reserved for those who are actively fulfilling their divine calling.
Before rounding off, he reminded the Synod that all that is done in ministry is sacrificial work
An offering was taken, followed by the Doxology and Benediction.
The Martins Service came to a close with the Recessional Hymn: A&M 304.

Recognition and Special Moment
After the Matins, His Grace, The Most Rev. Markus A. Ibrahim, Archbishop of the Ecclesiastical Province of Jos and Bishop of Yola Diocese, warmly recognized and appreciated the presence and efforts of The Rt. Rev. Dr. Ephraim and Mrs. Ephraim, the Bishop and wife of the Diocese of Jos, for attending the Synod despite his very busy schedule.
In his response, The Rt. Rev. Dr. Ephraim, Bishop of Jos Diocese, expressed deep appreciation and joy to His Grace, the President of the Synod, for his outstanding leadership. He rejoiced with His Grace and remarked confidently that the Province of Jos will continue to move higher under his guidance and vision.
Before the Bishop of Jos and his wife took their leave, His Grace, The Most Rev. Markus A. Ibrahim, invited The Rt. Rev. Tula, Bishop of Bauchi Diocese, to pray for them. The prayer session was solemn and deeply spiritual, as the Synod joined in blessing the Bishop of Jos and his wife for journey mercies and continued grace in their ministry.
Bible Study
Following this, the Bible Study was conducted by The Rt. Rev. Cletus A. Tambari, Bishop of Gombe Diocese.
The study was centered on the theme:
“I Will Be With You Always” (Matthew 28:20b)
with the text taken from Matthew 28:16–20.
Objectives of the Study:
At the end of the study, the Synod should be able to know that:
1. The environment we live in is very hostile and wicked due to the activities of the forces of the kingdom of darkness.
2. Jesus has overcome the world and has given us victory.
3. Divine presence (security) is assured to God’s children.
The goal of the study was to encourage the Synod to move on with divine mandate without fear.
Bishop Tambari, in his exposition, reminded the Synod that despite the challenges of the world, God’s abiding presence remains a guarantee of victory, strength, and courage for all who faithfully serve Him.
The section ended joyfully, marking a spiritually enriching and inspiring day filled with divine presence, fellowship, and thanksgiving.
