TOPIC: THE BIBLE: GOD'S ETERNAL WORD (1)

TEXT: 2 SAM 23:2; ACTS 1:16; 2TIM 3:15-17; 1 PET 1:10-11; 2 PET 1:19-21; 3:16-17.

ALL SCRIPTURE IS GIVEN BY INSPIRATION OF GOD AND IS PROFITABLE FOR DOCTRINE, FOR REPROOF, FOR CORRECTION, FOR INSTRUCTION IN RIGHTEOUSNESS: 2 TIM 3:16

INTRODUCTION
The BIBLE (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth or Be Informed Before Life Ends) is God's Word which was supernaturally given to man to serve as a guide, instruction manual and God's mind conveyed concerning our relationship with Him. It is not an ordinary book like others in the bookshelf.

PECULIARITIES AND UNIQUENESS OF THE BIBLE WHICH NO OTHER BOOK BEARS.
The following are distinguishable features that convey information and should convince man of the sacredness of the Bible and hence the need to believe its teachings in totality:
1.It is the most desired and outstanding world's best-selling book at all times. 1 Pet 2:2-3
2.It has been translated into many languages more than any other book ever conceived. Psa. 68:11; Matt 28:19
3.Its authorship is divine and not human as other books, including books authored by Christians. John 10:35; 2 Tim 3:16
4.It is the oldest surviving book and yet most relevant in any bookshelf without expiration date. Matt 5:18
5.It has no REVISED Edition as other books do to meet up with the current realities and changes in their field, neither can it be abridged. Deut. 4:2; Rev 22:18-19
6.It is a compendium of 66 books written by over 40 PEN MEN under the inspiration of the same HOLY SPIRIT at different time intervals of over 1500 years and yet it's accuracy and coherence is unbeatable. No secular book authored by two people can have the same accuracy. Psa. 119:89; 2 Pet. 1:19-21
7.No other book has been fought, resisted, and criticized more than the Bible. Yet some of those who fought later depended on it at the close of their life. (BIBLE: Be Informed Before Life Ends) Jer. 36:14-23; 27-32; Dan 9:2.

HYMN - THE BIBLE STANDS

29/03/2024

Greetings to you in the prevailing name of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? I John 5:5

*TO BE INSPIRED*
Overcoming the world sounds like an impossible feat. How do we defeat the forces of greed, strife, and pride that define the ways of the world? Only through Jesus, who leads us in a life of humble sacrifice. In Jesus, we find the peace of a secure eternity, no matter what we face in this world, freeing us to pursue His kingdom instead of worldly gains.

*PRAY*
Lord God, thank You for calling me to be a child of Your kingdom. You’ve called me to resist the ways of the world as I live for You, but I cannot do it alone. Thank You for sending Jesus to live that I may have an example to follow. And thank You for His death and resurrection, by which I receive the power to follow You in n Jesus’ name, Amen.

Greetings to you in the prevailing name of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. I Peter 4:14

*TO BE INSPIRED*
Nobody likes to be insulted or belittled. Yet, Jesus tells us to expect opposition and rejection. When others talk down on us for standing up for Christ, it is evidence that Christ is in us and His Spirit is working through us. When we share in suffering for His name’s sake, we share in His glory as it is revealed in us.

*PRAY*
Father, please give me the perseverance to endure the mocking of those around me. Some days I want to run and hide, but You call me to stand firm. When others hurl insults at me, give me the power to respond only with Your love and truth. And as You work through me, please soften the hearts of my attackers so that they may see You and know You, too in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Greetings to you in the prevailing name of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me. John 21:22

*TO BE INSPIRED*
Sometimes, we wonder why other people have an easier time than we do. ‘Why me?’ we lament. But do we ask ‘why me?’ when we are given an easier load than our neighbor? Usually, we don’t. God calls us each to our specific purpose, and we serve Him best when we focus on His will and plan for us, instead of comparing our circumstances to those of our neighbors.

*PRAY*
Father, thank You for calling me and equipping me to serve You and Your kingdom. I do not understand why You have chosen me for the life You have given me, but I ask that You empower me to faithfully serve where You have placed me. Protect my heart from envy over those whose path seems easier, and let me not lose compassion for those whose struggle is greater in Jesus’ name, Amen.

For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. 1 Timothy 4:8

*TO BE INSPIRED*
We exercise our bodies because doing so is good for us. Using our bones and muscles keeps us healthy. In the same way, we need spiritual exercise to maintain our spiritual health. We walk with God when we commune with Him in prayer and Scripture reading. And we exercise our faith when we witness to others, and use our Spiritual gifts to serve God’s kingdom.

*PRAY*
Lord, help me to maintain the discipline of spiritual exercise. Teach me to form good habits and to devote time to You each day. Train my mind by Your wisdom, and lead me to places where I may use my gifts to serve others for the sake of Your kingdom in Jesus’ name, Amen.

If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Colossians 3:1

*TO BE INSPIRED*
When we are made new in Christ, he invites us to a new way of thinking. No longer should our focus be on the pursuits of this world, but on the pursuit of God’s kingdom. For when we see the risen Jesus, we see beyond the world that ends in death as our eyes are opened to eternity. And so, with eyes wide open, we meditate on heavenly things, as Jesus works His perfection through us.

*PRAY*
Lord, thank You for making me a part of Your church. Thank You for making Jesus my cornerstone. Please work in me so that my heart and my life may be continually aligned to him. And set me in the place that You choose so that I may support my brothers and sisters in Christ and carry out Your purpose in my life in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. Romans 13:10

*TO BE INSPIRED*
There is no malice in genuine love. Love always seeks what is good and right for others. And as every parent knows, sometimes it takes the wisdom of standing firm to keep loved ones from harming themselves. Love both provides and protects. Especially when others are blind to their own needs and danger, love compels us to be prepared to respond, for the sake of doing what is good and right.

*PRAY*
Father, it is not always easy to love those close to me. Sometimes they frustrate me, and other times they cause me to worry. Give me wisdom to see past my own feelings and to understand what is right and helpful in every situation. Give me compassion to seek good for others and discernment to know what truly is good in Jesus’ name, Amen.

And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. Genesis 1:31

*TO BE INSPIRED*
At the end of the sixth day of creation, God declared His work good. All of it. Sin introduced evil and brokenness into God’s good creation, but God’s intention remains the same. We have hope that God will finish the work of restoration that He began in Jesus and that when we are with Him in eternity, the goodness of God’s design will be fully restored.

*PRAY*
Thank You, God, for being such a loving and thoughtful Creator. Even through the brokenness of our fallen world, I still see Your beauty, Your brilliance, and Your care reflected throughout Your work. Thank You, Lord, for the hope of eternity, where Your goodness will be fully revealed, unblemished by the stain of sin in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Romans 3:24

*TO BE INSPIRED*
We’ve been justified, made right with God. How? Not by our own good works, there is no amount of right that we could do to erase the sin that separated us from God. There is no price that we could afford to purchase our lives back from the penalty of death. It is grace alone, the unmerited favor of God, that redeems us and makes us righteous.

*PRAY*
Father, sometimes I forget that it is Your grace that saves me. Sometimes I try to lean on my own righteousness, which will never be enough. Thank You for freely giving me the gift of righteousness, for redeeming my life, and allowing me to stand in Your presence, justified and blameless, because of what Jesus has done in Jesus’ name, Amen.

25/02/2024

Greetings to you in the prevailing name of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked. Psalms 37:16

*TO BE INSPIRED*
Whether we have much or we have little, it is the state of our hearts and not the balance of our bank accounts that is our true measure of value. Wealth can do much in this life, but it cannot help us in eternity. But the righteousness that comes from God is a lasting treasure that secures our future.

*PRAY*
Lord, help me to see past the wealth of this life, and protect me from any greed or envy that might enter my mind. Help me to be content with what I have, and to put my trust and hope in the immeasurable righteousness that You have given me, for it is a treasure that cannot be bought and sold in Jesus’ name, Amen.

22/02/2024

Greetings to you in the prevailing name of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. James 2:10

*TO BE INSPIRED*
We humans like hierarchies. And when it comes to sin, we are often quick to assuage our own guilt by comparing ourselves to ‘worse’ offenders. To be sure, some sins have a more severe earthly impact than others, but all have the spiritual effect of separating us from God. Fortunately, Jesus’ blood covers all sins, great and small, so that all lawbreakers, notorious and petty, may be reconciled to him.

*PRAY*
Father, thank You for paying the price to pardon my sins. And I confess my need to lay down my pride, by which I have excused and justified my thoughts and actions. Help me to seek You alone as my measure for righteousness, and You alone as my source of goodness in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Greetings to you in the prevailing name of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. John 20:27

*TO BE INSPIRED*
We can learn a lot from Doubting Thomas. Even after three years of following Jesus and hearing his teachings, Thomas still struggled to believe the miracle that the other disciples had seen. But instead of chastising him, Jesus met Thomas at his place of doubt and offered him answers. Let’s remember Jesus’ response the next time we struggle with doubt.

*PRAY*
Lord, sometimes I have a hard time believing Your unconditional love or trusting Your purpose for me. Please hear my struggles and my doubts as I come to You seeking answers. Please give me the comfort and assurance that I need to keep believing and keep moving in Jesus’ name, Amen.
