COMMUNIQUÉ ISSUED AT THE 2025/2026 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (AGM)
HELD AT ST. LUKE’S ANGLICAN CHURCH, AGUDAMA-EPIE, YENAGOA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA, BAYELSA STATE, ON SUNDAY, 23RD AUGUST, 2026.
1.0 PREAMBLE
The 2025/2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of The Boys’ Brigade Nigeria, Bayelsa State Council which is the first of its kind outside election year, was convened on Sunday, 23rd August, 2026, at St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Agudama-Epie, Yenagoa Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.
The meeting brought together leadership and members across all cadres—including Patrons, Chaplains, Officers, and Boys—to review the administration and activities of the Council during the 2025/2026 administrative year, evaluate reports, address institutional challenges, and establish operational projections for the 2026/2027 service year.
The assembly commenced with the opening hymn (A&M 165), followed by an exhortation by Pastor Tari Diriyai, anchored on remaining sure and steadfast in Christian conviction and service. Following the rendering of The Boys’ Brigade Nigeria Anthem and the National Anthem, the business agenda was presented and formally ratified.
2.0 EXECUTIVE ADDRESS
The State President, Sir Hon. Godspower Ake, welcomed delegates and expressed deep appreciation to the Patrons, Chaplains, Officers, and Boys for their unwavering commitment to the growth of the Brigade ministry across Bayelsa State. He acknowledged the grace of Almighty God in sustaining the State Council through the past year and charged all delegates to remain steadfast in upholding the Christian foundation, discipline, and core objectives of the organisation.
3.0 SUMMARY OF DELIBERATIONS AND REPORTS
3.1 Evaluation of Council Reports
Presentations: Official annual reports were received and considered from:
Yenagoa Metropolitan Battalion Council — presented by Mr. Gabriel Ebipa, Capt. (NTO).
Yenagoa Battalion Council — presented by Mr. Ayoro Daniel, Capt. (NTO).
Ogbia Battalion Council — presented by Miss Philip Elizabeth Daziba, W.O. (Internal Auditor).
Kolga Group Council — presented by Mr. Ajoko Christo, Capt. (NTO).
Defaulters: The AGM expressed concern over the non-submission of reports by Nembe/Brass Group Council, Ogboin-Oyaikiri Group Council, and Gbarain/Ekpetiama Group Council.
3.2 Departmental & Secretariat Reports
State Secretariat Annual Report: Presented by the State Secretary-Organizer, Mr. Preye Geku Williams (ANTO). The report detailed key achievements from August 2025 to August 2026, including statutory meetings, council inaugurations, cadet company openings, training workshops, the State Patrons’ Summit, South-South Zonal engagements, and B.B. Week activities. The report highlighted operational challenges—specifically communication gaps, resource constraints for training, and transportation hurdles—and was formally adopted.
Financial Report: Following exhaustive deliberations regarding the 2025/2026 Financial Report, presented by the state treasurer Pst. Rufus Nyoun, ANTO, the house resolved to suspend its adoption pending further clarifications and administrative reconciliation.
Unit/Departmental Submissions: The AGM noted the absence of reports from standing Units and Departments and mandated proper record-keeping and statutory reporting moving forward.
3.3 Policy & Operational Directives
Financial Obligations & Remittances: A strict one-month grace period was granted to all defaulted Councils, Companies, and members to clear all outstanding B.B. Week remittances and annual dues.
Uniform Integrity: The State President reiterated strict compliance with the approved uniform regulations of The Boys’ Brigade Nigeria, strictly prohibiting any unauthorized variations or embellishments.
State Secretariat Project & Mobility: The AGM affirmed the urgent necessity of acquiring a suitable parcel of land for the construction of a permanent State Council Secretariat and purchasing an official State Council vehicle.
State Council Visitation: An official state-wide visitation schedule by the State Council to local councils will commence following the National Council meeting, starting with the Nembe/Brass Group Council.
Chaplaincy & Asset Management: Guidelines were re-established regarding the preservation and maintenance of Company musical instruments, proper protocol for flag positioning within altar areas, and mandatory advance distribution of meeting documents (minutes and financial statements) ahead of statutory meetings.
4.0 RESOLUTIONS OF THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Upon thorough review and consideration of all submissions, the AGM formally adopted the following resolutions:
Mandatory Administrative Compliance: All Battalion and Group Councils, as well as State Units/Departments, must maintain structured operational records and submit written annual reports at future AGMs without exception.
Strict Adherence to Uniform Regulations: Members at all levels within the Bayelsa State Council shall conform strictly to the approved uniform code of The Boys’ Brigade Nigeria.
Early Circulation of Meeting Documents: The State Secretariat is directed to ensure that financial reports, minutes, and working papers are circulated well in advance of future General Meetings to allow adequate review by delegates.
Strengthened Chaplaincy & Patron Relations: Captains and Officers-in-Charge are instructed to foster regular, transparent communication with their respective Church Chaplains and attached Patrons regarding company welfare, activities, and safety.
Asset Preservation: Company leadership must institute strict custody and maintenance protocols for all musical instruments and equipment under their charge.
State Secretariat Supervision: The State Executive Council is empowered to execute the scheduled council visitations to enhance direct supervision, structural alignment, and regional coordination.
5.0 ADOPTION OF CALENDAR & UPCOMING PROGRAMMES
2026/2027 State Calendar: The proposed Calendar of Activities for the 2026/2027 administrative year was formally considered and adopted by the AGM.
2027 Biennial Camp & 30th Anniversary: The State Executive Council was mandated to constitute a Planning Committee for the proposed 2027 State Biennial Event Camp and 30th Anniversary Celebration of the State Council.

6.0 CONCLUSION
The 2025/2026 Annual General Meeting successfully concluded with a renewed commitment among the over 10 Patrons, 2 Chaplains, 50 Officers, and 6 Boys in attendance to advance the Kingdom of God among boys, foster discipline, and elevate the operational standards of The Boys’ Brigade in Bayelsa State.
The motion for adjournment was moved by Elder Inuaowo Nsisuk M. and seconded by James Prosper, LT. The meeting officially closed at 7:17 p.m. with prayers led by Ven. Tonye Komonibo, followed by the State Council Anthem.
