CHRISTIAN HELPS MINISTRY

TOPIC: LEARNING WISDOM FROM THE INSIGNIFICANT

TEXT: Proverbs 30:24–28

PREACHER: Prekebena Eric Oyin, DCE, DD(h.c), PhD

1. INTRODUCTION

The book of Proverbs is filled with divine wisdom for successful and godly living. In this passage, the writer draws our attention to certain tiny creatures that many people often ignore. Though they appear small, weak, and insignificant, they carry profound lessons for life.

Proverbs 30:24a

“There be four things which are little upon the earth…”

These four creatures are:

1. Ants

2. Conies (Rock Badgers)

3. Locusts

4. Spider (or lizard in some translations)

Because they are small and seemingly unimportant, many people overlook them. Yet God, in His wisdom, uses these little creatures to teach mighty truths.

Proverbs 30:24b

“…but they are exceeding wise.”

This means that although they are little in size, they possess remarkable wisdom in conduct, survival, and purpose. God wants us to understand that greatness is not measured by size, status, or outward appearance, but by wisdom.

Many people feel insignificant because of their background, age, finances, or lack of influence. But this Scripture reminds us that even the smallest can become examples of wisdom.

May the Holy Spirit teach us through this study and grant us understanding in Yahusha’s (Jesus’) mighty name. Amen.

2. WHAT CAN WE LEARN FROM THE INSIGNIFICANT?

1. The Ants – Wisdom of Planning and Preparation

Proverbs 30:25

“The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer.”

Ants are tiny and weak, yet they are wise enough to prepare for the future. They gather food in seasons of abundance so they will not suffer in seasons of scarcity.

Lessons from the Ant:

Plan ahead.

Use present opportunities wisely.

Prepare for difficult times before they come.

Avoid laziness and procrastination.

Build today for tomorrow.

Many people fail not because they lack ability, but because they refuse to prepare. Wisdom teaches us to use today responsibly.

2. The Conies (Rock Badgers) – Wisdom of Safe Building

Proverbs 30:26

“The conies are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks.”

The coney or rock badger is weak and defenseless, yet it survives by building its home in the rocks where predators cannot easily reach it.

Lessons from the Conies:

Know your weakness and seek strength in God.

Build your life on a solid foundation.

Security is found in the right place.

Depend on God, the Rock of Ages.

A wise believer does not trust in personal strength, but in God.

Psalm 18:2

“The Lord is my rock, and my fortress…”

Those who build their lives on Christ shall stand when storms come.

3. The Locust – Wisdom of Cooperation and Unity

Proverbs 30:27

“The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands.”

Locusts have no visible ruler, yet they move together in unity, discipline, and order. Their combined strength makes them powerful.

Lessons from the Locust:

Unity creates strength.

Cooperation accomplishes more than isolation.

Discipline brings order.

Teamwork multiplies results.

The Church must learn this lesson. When believers walk in unity, the work of God advances powerfully.

Ecclesiastes 4:9

“Two are better than one…”

Division weakens, but unity empowers.

4. The Spider – Wisdom of Persistence and Fearlessness

Proverbs 30:28

“The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings’ palaces.”

Though small and fragile, the spider uses persistence and skill to reach places of honor—even kings’ palaces. It is not intimidated by greatness or environment.

Lessons from the Spider:

Do not despise small beginnings.

Persistence opens doors.

Skill can take you to great places.

Be courageous and determined.

Keep building even when your work is torn down.

The spider may lose its web many times, but it rebuilds again. That is resilience.

A child of God must learn to rise after setbacks and keep pressing forward.

3. ADDITIONAL SPIRITUAL LESSONS

These little creatures also teach us that:

1. God Values Wisdom Above Appearance

The world celebrates size and status, but God celebrates wisdom.

2. No One Is Too Small to Matter

You may feel unnoticed, but God can use your life greatly.

3. Nature Reveals Divine Truth

Creation itself is a classroom for those willing to learn.

4. CONCLUSION

Job 12:7

“But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee.”

God teaches through His creation. If we humble ourselves, we can learn wisdom from things many people ignore.

Solving difficult problems may require intelligence, but living a fruitful and meaningful life requires wisdom. Success is not built merely on intellect, talent, or education—it is built on wisdom from God.

Let us therefore learn from the ant to prepare, from the coney to build wisely, from the locust to cooperate, and from the spider to persevere.

No matter how small or insignificant you may feel, God can make your life a testimony of wisdom and impact.

Prayer:

Father, give me wisdom to live purposefully. Teach me to prepare like the ant, trust You like the coney, walk in unity like the locust, and persevere like the spider. In Yahusha’s name, Amen.

VICTORY OVER THE SPIRIT OF FEAR

Text: 2 Timothy 1:7
"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."

1. INTRODUCTION

The Scriptures reveal that God has already provided everything necessary for victorious living. 2 Peter 1:3 declares that God has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of Him. This means that believers are not meant to live in defeat, anxiety, or bo***ge.

However, 2 Timothy 1:7 clearly states that the spirit of fear is not from God. God did not design His children to live in constant dread, panic, or insecurity. Instead, He has given believers power, love, and a sound mind.

Fear is one of the enemy’s most effective weapons. When fear dominates a person’s heart, it weakens faith, paralyzes action, and prevents the believer from walking in the fullness of God's promises. The enemy understands that if he can keep a believer afraid, he can keep that believer defeated.

Therefore, every child of God must learn how to identify, resist, and overcome the spirit of fear. Through the Word of God and the power of the Holy Spirit, believers can walk in confidence and victory.

May the Lord grant us grace to overcome every spirit of fear in Jesus’ name.

2. WHAT IS FEAR?

Fear can be understood both from a natural perspective and from a spiritual perspective.

a) Natural Definition of Fear

The Holman Christian Dictionary defines fear as a natural emotional response to a perceived threat to one's security or well-being. In this sense, fear is part of human experience. It can sometimes act as a warning signal to danger.

However, when fear becomes excessive, controlling, or paralyzing, it moves beyond natural caution and becomes a spiritual problem.

b) Biblical Perspective of Fear

In the Bible, fear is often described not merely as an emotion but as a spirit. This is why 2 Timothy 1:7 refers specifically to the spirit of fear.

Fear can be understood as:

A false reality appearing to be true

A tool of the enemy to intimidate believers

A weapon used by Satan to control the mind

A strategy to weaken faith and destroy confidence in God

The devil uses fear to create imaginary outcomes that contradict God's promises. When a believer accepts these thoughts, fear begins to dominate their thinking.

3. THE SPIRIT OF FEAR

Fear was one of the earliest spiritual attacks against humanity. After Adam sinned in the Garden of Eden, fear immediately entered the human experience.

Genesis 3:10
"And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself."

Before sin entered the world, Adam had confidence and fellowship with God. But once sin entered, fear followed. Fear causes people to hide from God instead of running to Him.

The spirit of fear works through several strategies:

Fear Comes from Ignorance

When people do not know what God has said about their situation, fear easily takes control. Knowledge of God's Word destroys fear.

The Highway of Fear Leads to Defeat

Fear opens the door for discouragement, doubt, and ultimately failure. A fearful heart struggles to believe God fully.

The Fear of Failure Produces Failure

When a person constantly expects failure, that mindset influences their decisions, actions, and outcomes.

Fear Sees Only What Man Can See

Faith sees God’s possibilities, but fear focuses only on human limitations.

Fear Gives Small Problems a Big Shadow

Fear exaggerates problems until they appear bigger than God.

Fear Remembers Negative Examples

Fear constantly recalls past disappointments, failures, or bad experiences, making people believe that negative outcomes will repeat themselves.

The Bible shows how fear can torment the human heart:

Isaiah 21:4
"My heart panted, fearfulness affrighted me: the night of my pleasure hath he turned into fear unto me."

Song of Solomon 3:8
"They all hold swords, being expert in war: every man hath his sword upon his thigh because of fear in the night."

Fear often attacks people during vulnerable moments, especially in times of uncertainty or darkness.

4. DEGREES OF FEAR

Fear often grows gradually. What begins as a small concern can develop into a powerful spiritual bo***ge.

Three common degrees of fear include:

1. Anxiety

Anxiety is the initial stage of fear. It involves persistent uneasiness about future events. The mind becomes restless and troubled.

2. Worry

Worry occurs when anxiety becomes continuous mental agitation. The person constantly thinks about negative possibilities.

3. Terror

Terror is the extreme stage of fear, where fear completely overwhelms the individual. It can lead to panic, hopelessness, and paralysis.

Fear often speaks lies such as:

"You will die from this sickness."

"You will fail this exam."

"Your prayers will never be answered."

"Your situation will never change."

But these voices do not come from God.

Fear has destroyed many destinies because people allowed fear to dominate their decisions and faith.

Job 3:25
"For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me."

This scripture reveals a spiritual principle: what dominates the heart can eventually influence reality. The enemy often works to bring a person’s greatest fears to pass.

This is why believers must guard their hearts and stand firmly on God's promises.

5. FEAR NOT!

One of the most repeated commands in Scripture is “Fear not.” Many Bible teachers have observed that variations of this command appear approximately 365 times in the Bible, symbolizing God’s desire for His people to live free from fear every day of the year.

God repeatedly reassures His children that His presence removes fear.

Psalm 91:5–7
"Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee."

Psalm 23:4
"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me."

The key to overcoming fear is the awareness of God’s presence. When believers know that God is with them, fear loses its power.

Victory cannot coexist with fear. Fear weakens faith, but faith drives away fear.

1 John 4:18
"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love."

God's perfect love brings freedom from torment and insecurity.

CONCLUSION

The spirit of fear is not from God. It is a spiritual weapon used by the enemy to weaken faith and control believers. But through Christ, believers have authority to overcome fear.

God has given us:

Power to overcome intimidation

Love that drives out fear

A sound mind that is stable and disciplined

When we fill our hearts with God's Word, trust His promises, and walk in His love, the spirit of fear loses its hold over our lives.

As believers stand on the truth of Scripture, they can declare boldly:

“I refuse to live in fear because God is with me.”

TOPIC: I WILL NOT LABOUR IN VAIN
TEXT: Isaiah 65:22–24
PREACHER: Prekebena Eric Oyin, PhD, DCE, DD (h.c)

1. INTRODUCTION

The word labour simply means the effort or work that a person invests in order to achieve a particular goal. It could be physical, mental, or spiritual exertion toward success or fulfillment. Every human being is created to work — to be productive and fruitful (Genesis 2:15).

To labour in vain, however, means to work without result, to struggle without reward, or to make effort that produces no lasting fruit. It is to invest time, energy, and resources, only to experience disappointment, loss, or failure at the end.

Isaiah 65:23a declares:

“They shall not labour in vain…”

This is the promise of God to His children — a divine assurance that our efforts will not be wasted. God delights in the success and fruitfulness of His people.

Beloved, the Almighty God has destined you to enjoy the fruit of your labour. You will not build for another to inhabit, nor plant for another to eat. Your labour shall bring forth results and joy, in Jesus’ name.

I pray for someone hearing the sound of my voice today:
👉 You will not labour in vain, in Jesus’ name!

2. WHY DO PEOPLE LABOUR IN VAIN?

There are many spiritual and physical reasons why people labour without result. Let us examine some key causes:

1. Inherited Problems (Foundational Battles)

Ezekiel 18:2

“The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge.”

Many people today suffer the consequences of ancestral or inherited patterns that resist progress. These could be family covenants, curses, or evil foundations that bring cycles of fruitless labour. Unless these foundations are broken through prayer and the power of the Blood of Jesus, they continue to hinder success.

2. External Powers and Oppression

Judges 6:3–4

“And so it was, when Israel had sown, that the Midianites came up… and destroyed the increase of the earth.”

Here we see that Israel planted, but enemies came to destroy their harvest. Likewise, external powers — demonic agents, spiritual robbers, or human oppressors — can arise to attack one’s results. This is why believers must be spiritually alert and prayerful, guarding their harvests through the Word and warfare prayers.

3. Satanic Activities

Job 2:7

“So went Satan forth from the presence of the Lord, and smote Job…”

Satan’s mission is to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). He wages war against the prosperity and progress of God’s people. When the devil cannot stop you from working, he may try to ensure your efforts do not yield fruit. But thanks be to God — through Christ Jesus, we have victory over the works of darkness.

3. GOD’S PROMISE OF FRUITFUL LABOUR

Isaiah 65:22c

“...Mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.”

This is our covenant promise! God assures that His people will enjoy the fruits of their labour — not just briefly, but for a long time. The works of your hands shall bring joy and peace. Your business, ministry, career, and family will produce results that glorify God.

Remember, fruitfulness is part of your divine heritage. When you serve God faithfully and walk in obedience, He rebukes the devourer for your sake (Malachi 3:11).

4. PRACTICAL KEYS TO AVOID LABOURING IN VAIN

Commit your work to God – Psalm 37:5
Surrender your plans to God in prayer and seek His direction before taking any major step.

Work diligently and with integrity – Proverbs 10:4
God blesses hard work and faithfulness, not laziness or dishonesty.

Maintain a covenant relationship with God – Deuteronomy 8:18
Remember that God is the One who gives the power to get wealth. Stay in covenant with Him through tithes, offerings, and obedience.

Wage spiritual warfare – Ephesians 6:12
Resist every power contending with your progress through prayer, fasting, and the Word.

Live a holy and righteous life – Psalm 1:1–3
Sin can open the door for devourers to waste your labour. Live uprightly before God.

5. CONCLUSION

God’s perfect plan for His children is that they labour with joy and reap with satisfaction. No power of darkness will swallow the fruit of your labour. The same God who blessed Isaac in the land of famine will cause your efforts to yield supernatural results.

You shall plant and reap. You shall build and inhabit. You shall enjoy the work of your hands, in the mighty name of Jesus!

6. PRAYER POINTS

Almighty Father, every battle against the fruit of my labour, scatter unto desolation, in Jesus’ name.

Almighty Father, evil powers fighting against my efforts, fall down and die, in Jesus’ name.

Almighty Father, problems assigned to make me labour in vain, you are a failure, die now, in Jesus’ name.

Almighty Father, every inherited bo***ge of fruitless labour upon my life, break and release me, in Jesus’ name.

Almighty Father, every evil plantation in the foundation of my life, be uprooted by fire, in Jesus’ name.

Almighty Father, every inherited satanic seed of fruitless effort in my life, die now, in Jesus’ name.

Almighty Father, every problem transferred into my life from the womb, die now, in Jesus’ name.

Almighty Father, every inherited covenant of poverty and frustration, break and scatter, in Jesus’ name.

Almighty Father, every curse of “monkey dey work, baboon dey chop” upon my life, break and scatter, in Jesus’ name.

Almighty Father, every agent of darkness attacking the fruit of my labour, fall down and die, in Jesus’ name.
