MY VISION FOR OGBIA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

A FOUR-POINT AGENDA FOR TRANSFORMATIONAL, VISIONARY LEADERSHIP*

Weekly Vision Series (Part 8)

TOPIC

HARNESSING THE LEADERSHIP POTENTIALS OF OUR YOUTHS TO BECOME THE LEADERS OF TOMORROW

By Engr. (Pst.) Amakuro Followme Avula, MNSE, MOD

My dear brothers and sisters of Ogbia Kingdom,

In the previous edition of this Vision Series, I emphasized the urgent need to rescue our youths from destructive social vices through deliberate reorientation, mentorship, and leadership development. Today, we take the conversation one step further by focusing on an equally important responsibility—identifying, developing, and releasing the enormous leadership potential that already exists within the youths of Ogbia Kingdom.

Every young person is born with unique gifts and abilities. The responsibility of true leadership is not only to correct wrong behaviour but also to discover hidden potential, nurture it, and provide opportunities for it to flourish. A society that fails to develop the talents of its young people unknowingly weakens its own future.

Having worked closely with the youths of Ogbia Kingdom for more than eight years through our Youth Leadership Development initiatives, I have come to appreciate the exceptional qualities that God has deposited in them. I have seen firsthand that our youths possess remarkable leadership potential waiting to be properly harnessed.

One unique characteristic of the Ogbia youth is a natural desire for independence. Unlike many who wait endlessly for external assistance, many of our young people possess an inner drive to create opportunities for themselves and to take responsibility for their future. This spirit of initiative is one of the strongest indicators of leadership potential. It reflects confidence, courage, and the willingness to take responsibility—qualities that every great leader must possess.

Beyond this, the youths of Ogbia Kingdom are widely known for their intelligence, resilience, hard work, and enterprising spirit. These qualities have enabled many of our sons and daughters to distinguish themselves in different professions, businesses, and fields of endeavour both within and outside our Kingdom.

What our youths need, therefore, is not a change of identity but the right guidance. Through intentional leadership training, mentorship, character development, and skills acquisition, these natural abilities can be refined and transformed into productive leadership that will benefit our communities and our Kingdom.

If given the privilege to serve as the Executive Chairman of Ogbia Local Government Area, I will place deliberate emphasis on programmes that identify gifted young people across our communities, nurture their leadership capacities, and connect them with opportunities to serve, innovate, and contribute meaningfully to the development of Ogbia Kingdom.

My vision is to raise a generation of visionary, disciplined, innovative, and responsible young leaders who will not only succeed personally but will also become agents of transformation in their families, communities, and the entire Ogbia Kingdom.

I firmly believe that the future greatness of Ogbia Kingdom lies within the untapped potential of our youths. When we intentionally discover, develop, and deploy these potentials, we will not only secure the leadership of tomorrow but also lay the foundation for sustainable peace, prosperity, and development.

Let us believe in our youths.

Let us invest in their potential.

Let us prepare them to lead.

Long Live Ogbia Kingdom!

Long Live the Great Youths of Ogbia Kingdom!!

Engr. (Pst.) Amakuro Followme Avula, MNSE, MOD.

MY VISION FOR OGBIA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

A FOUR-POINT AGENDA FOR TRANSFORMATIONAL, VISIONARY LEADERSHIP

Weekly Vision Series (Part 3)

RESTORING THE SPIRIT & VISION OF THE OGBIA BROTHERHOOD THROUGH COLLABORATION AMONG KEY STAKEHOLDERS

By Engr. (Pst.) Amakuro Followme Avula (Strongman, FAD), MNSE, MOD.

My dear brothers and sisters of Ogbia Kingdom,

In the previous edition of this Vision Series, I shared my thoughts on the importance of strengthening the moral and leadership foundation of our Kingdom. Today, I wish to discuss the Second Agenda of my vision—"Building Strong Collaboration Between the Spiritual and Physical Leadership of Ogbia Kingdom", with a special focus on "Restoring the Spirit and Vision of the Ogbia Brotherhood".

One of the greatest assets any people can possess is not merely natural resources or political influence—it is unity of purpose. History has repeatedly shown that communities which stand together, plan together, and work together are able to achieve extraordinary progress.

Ogbia Kingdom is richly blessed with intelligent men and women, accomplished professionals, respected traditional rulers, committed faith leaders, visionary youths, industrious women, and experienced elders. If these strengths are effectively coordinated around a common vision, there is virtually no limit to what our Kingdom can achieve.

One institution that once played a remarkable role in fostering this unity was the Ogbia Brotherhood, founded about sixty-six years ago by the late Rev. George Amangala and other visionary leaders of that era. Their vision went beyond organizational meetings. They created a platform where spiritual leaders, traditional rulers, community leaders, professionals, political leaders, women, and youths could see themselves first as one people, united by a common destiny.

The Ogbia Brotherhood became a symbol of solidarity, mutual respect, and collective responsibility. It encouraged our people to rise above personal, political, and community differences in pursuit of the overall progress of Ogbia Kingdom. The remarkable achievements associated with that period continue to inspire many today.

As the years have passed, however, changing circumstances have weakened many of the structures and relationships that once promoted this spirit of brotherhood. The result has been growing divisions, fragmented efforts, and missed opportunities for collective development.

I believe the time has come to intentionally restore that culture of unity—not by recreating the past exactly as it was, but by building upon its enduring principles in ways that address the realities of today.

If given the privilege to serve as the Executive Chairman of Ogbia Local Government Area, one of my foremost priorities will be to initiate a new era of collaboration among all key stakeholders in Ogbia Kingdom.

This vision will involve bringing together:

✔ Our revered traditional rulers.

✔ Spiritual and faith leaders.

✔ Community Development Committees.

✔ Political leaders across all divides.

✔ Youth and women organizations.

✔ Professionals and business leaders.

✔ Cultural organizations.

✔ The Ogbia diaspora community.

Through regular engagement, consultation, and partnership, we can build stronger relationships, resolve differences peacefully, and mobilize our collective strengths toward the development of every community.

To make this collaboration meaningful and sustainable, my administration will promote regular:

• Ogbia Kingdom Leadership Summits.

• Community Development Forums.

• Town Hall Meetings.

• Youth Leadership Conferences.

• Women Development Forums.

• Leadership and Capacity-Building Seminars.

• Strategic Stakeholder Consultations.

These platforms will not merely provide opportunities for discussion; they will also serve as centres for leadership development, civic education, conflict resolution, policy dialogue, and community planning.

My belief is that the Office of the Executive Chairman should not be seen only as an administrative or political office. It should serve as a unifying institution that brings together the various segments of our Kingdom to pursue shared goals and lasting development.

Development is most sustainable when it is owned by the people themselves. Government alone cannot transform Ogbia Kingdom. Transformation requires the combined wisdom, experience, resources, and commitment of all stakeholders working together with mutual respect and a common purpose.

Beyond initiating this process, my vision is to establish a governance culture in which stakeholder engagement, consultation, and unity become enduring features of leadership in Ogbia Local Government Area. My aspiration is that future administrations will build upon this foundation, ensuring that collaboration remains a defining characteristic of governance in our Kingdom.

I firmly believe that when our traditional institutions, faith leaders, professionals, political leaders, youths, women, and community organizations move in one direction, Ogbia Kingdom will once again become a model of unity, progress, and purposeful leadership.

The future we desire cannot be built by individuals working alone. It will be built by a united people inspired by a shared vision and committed to the common good.

Let us restore the spirit of brotherhood.

Let us strengthen our partnerships.

Let us build a more united, peaceful, and prosperous Ogbia Kingdom for ourselves and for generations yet unborn.

MY VISION FOR OGBIA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA.

A FOUR-POINT AGENDA FOR TRANSFORMATIONAL, VISIONARY LEADERSHIP.

Weekly Vision Series (Part 2).

Strengthening the Spiritual Leadership Foundation of Ogbia Kingdom.

By Engr. (Pst.) Amakuro Followme Avula (Strongman, FAD), MNSE.

My dear brothers and sisters of Ogbia Kingdom,

In my previous post, I introduced my Four-Point Agenda for Transformational and Visionary Leadership for the Ogbia Kingdom. Today, I wish to shed more light on the First Agenda: Strengthening the Spiritual Leadership Foundation of Ogbia Kingdom.

When many people hear the word spiritual, they immediately think of religion. While religion may play a role in shaping values and beliefs, the issue I am raising here goes beyond religion. It touches on the deeper foundations that influence the character, attitudes, decisions, and direction of a people.

Throughout history, great societies have recognized that every physical reality is first driven by certain unseen forces—values, beliefs, convictions, traditions, attitudes, and worldviews. These unseen influences often determine the quality of leadership that emerges from a society and the level of development that society is able to attain.

It is becoming increasingly obvious that many of the challenges confronting leadership development in our communities cannot be explained by physical factors alone. Despite the abundance of human and natural resources within our Kingdom, we still face recurring challenges in leadership succession, community development, youth engagement, unity of purpose, and sustainable progress.

This reality has led many leaders, regardless of their religious or ideological backgrounds, to seek answers beyond conventional political and economic solutions. Some turn to traditional institutions, some seek counsel from faith leaders, while others rely on various belief systems and value structures that shape their decisions and actions.

Whether one agrees with these approaches or not, one fact remains clear: many people instinctively recognize that leadership challenges often have deeper roots than what is visible on the surface.

As someone who has spent years engaging with youths, community leaders, faith-based groups, and stakeholders across different communities in Ogbia Kingdom, I have observed that many of our leadership challenges are connected to issues such as:

* Weak value systems.

* Lack of leadership mentoring.

* Division and disunity.

* Loss of community identity and purpose.

* Poor leadership culture.

* Erosion of integrity and accountability.

* Failure to intentionally prepare future leaders.

These are not merely political problems; they are foundational issues that affect the mindset and behavior of individuals and communities.

This is why the first pillar of my vision seeks to encourage a deliberate effort to identify and address the underlying factors affecting leadership development across Ogbia Kingdom and its 52 communities.

Our objective will be to promote:

✔ Strong moral and ethical values.

✔ Integrity and accountability in leadership.

✔ Community harmony and peaceful coexistence.

✔ Leadership mentoring and succession planning.

✔ A renewed sense of purpose and responsibility among our people.

✔ Greater collaboration among community stakeholders in addressing developmental challenges.

I firmly believe that when the foundation is strengthened, the structure built upon it becomes stronger. When the values that guide leadership are strengthened, better leadership naturally emerges. When communities are united around shared principles and a common vision, development becomes easier to achieve.

The Ogbia Kingdom is blessed with enormous human potential. Our people are talented, intelligent, resilient, and capable of achieving great things. However, unlocking this potential requires more than infrastructure alone. It requires a conscious effort to strengthen the foundations upon which sustainable leadership and development are built.

My vision is to see an Ogbia Kingdom where leadership is guided by integrity, communities are united by shared values, and future generations are equipped to carry forward a legacy of excellence and service.

This is the essence of Strengthening the Spiritual Leadership Foundation of Ogbia Kingdom.

Together, let us build a stronger foundation for a greater future.

MY VISION FOR OGBIA LGA: A FOUR-POINT AGENDA FOR TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP

By Engr. (Pst.) Amakuro Followme Avula (Strongman, FAD) (mnse).

My dear brothers and sisters of the Ogbia Kingdom,

Over the years, many well-meaning sons and daughters of our Kingdom have encouraged me to step forward and contribute more directly to the development of our people through public service. I remain humbled by the confidence and goodwill expressed by many across our communities.

As I continue to reflect on this call to service, I believe it is important to begin sharing the vision and principles that would guide my leadership if entrusted with the responsibility of serving our people.

My conviction is simple:

The transformation of Ogbia Kingdom cannot be achieved through physical development alone. It requires a holistic approach that addresses the spiritual, leadership, human capacity, and economic foundations of our society.

It is for this reason that I present a *Four-Point Transformational Agenda* for Ogbia Kingdom.

1. Strengthening the Spiritual Leadership Foundation of Ogbia Kingdom

Every lasting transformation begins with the right foundation.

Throughout history, societies have risen or fallen based on the quality of the values and principles that guide their leadership. I firmly believe that leadership is not merely a political responsibility but a divine trust.

This agenda seeks to encourage the development and strengthening of spiritual leadership across Ogbia Kingdom and its 52 communities.

The objective is not to promote religion, but to encourage moral values, integrity, accountability, peace-building, and community development through collaboration with respected spiritual leaders.

A people whose moral and spiritual foundations are strong are better positioned to build stable families, peaceful communities, and effective leadership structures.

2. Building Strong Collaboration Between Spiritual and Physical Leadership

One of the greatest lessons from history is that societies thrive when moral influence and public leadership work together for the common good.

This agenda seeks to establish a stronger partnership between community leaders, traditional institutions, faith-based leaders, and public office holders in addressing the challenges facing our people.

Development should not be the responsibility of government alone. It requires the collective wisdom, influence, and participation of all stakeholders.

By creating platforms for dialogue, consultation, and cooperation, we can build a leadership culture that promotes unity, accountability, peace, and sustainable development throughout the Kingdom.

3. Developing the Leaders of Tomorrow Through Youth Empowerment

The future of Ogbia Kingdom depends on the quality of leadership we are preparing today.

Our young people are not merely the leaders of tomorrow—they are valuable partners in the transformation of today.

This agenda focuses on identifying, mentoring, training, and empowering young people to discover their talents, develop leadership capacity, and contribute positively to society.

Through structured leadership development initiatives, mentorship programs, skills acquisition, entrepreneurship support, and civic engagement opportunities, we can raise a generation of confident, responsible, and visionary leaders who will carry Ogbia Kingdom into a brighter future.

No society can truly develop while neglecting its youth.

4. Rural Economic Development and Community-Based Industrial Initiatives

The prosperity of Ogbia Kingdom must reach every community.

One of the major challenges confronting our people is the limited availability of sustainable economic opportunities, especially within rural communities.

This agenda seeks to promote practical and community-driven economic development by supporting small-scale industries, cooperative enterprises, agricultural initiatives, and other viable income-generating projects across the 52 communities of Ogbia Kingdom.

The focus will be on identifying cost-effective projects capable of creating jobs, empowering youths and women, stimulating local economies, and reducing dependence on external opportunities.

Development becomes meaningful when it directly improves the quality of life of ordinary citizens.

A CALL TO A NEW OGBIA KINGDOM

My vision is not merely about administration; it is about transformation.

It is about building a Kingdom where:

- *Leadership is guided by integrity and purpose*.

- *Communities work together in unity*.

- *Young people are equipped for success*.

- *Economic opportunities reach every community*.

- *Development is sustainable and people-centered*.

The Ogbia Kingdom has enormous potential. With the right vision, the right partnerships, and the collective commitment of our people, we can build a future that reflects the greatness of our heritage and the aspirations of generations yet unborn.

"Leadership is not about power; it is about service. Transformation begins when vision is translated into action."

Together, let us work toward an Ogbia Kingdom that is stronger, more united, more prosperous, and better prepared for the future.
