MY VISION FOR OGBIA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

A FOUR-POINT AGENDA FOR TRANSFORMATIONAL, VISIONARY LEADERSHIP

Weekly Vision Series (Part 11)

TOPIC:

LAYING A NEW FOUNDATION OF STAKEHOLDERS' COLLABORATION FOR A NEW OGBIA KINGDOM LEADERSHIP

By Engr. (Pst.) Amakuro Followme Avula, MNSE, MOD

My dear brothers and sisters of Ogbia Kingdom,

In the previous editions of this Vision Series, I have shared three fundamental priorities of my vision for transformational and visionary leadership in Ogbia Local Government Area.

First, the need to strengthen the moral and spiritual foundation of our Kingdom.

Second, the need to restore purposeful collaboration among the different sectors of leadership in Ogbia Kingdom.

Third, the need to deliberately raise, mentor, and prepare our youths—the leaders of tomorrow—for responsible leadership.

Today, I wish to bring these three priorities together under one central vision:

The urgent need to lay a new and sustainable foundation of stakeholders' collaboration for a new era of Ogbia Kingdom leadership.

Without any intention to overemphasize this important point, I strongly believe that the glorious future we all desire for Ogbia Kingdom cannot be built by any single group of leaders working in isolation.

The foundation for sustainable transformation must be built upon unity of purpose and strategic collaboration among the three major realms of leadership in our Kingdom:

✔ The Spiritual Leadership.

✔ The Physical Leadership—including our traditional, political, community, professional, and other institutional leaders.

✔ The Leadership of Tomorrow—our youths who must be deliberately prepared to take over the responsibilities of leadership.

These three realms must not operate independently of one another. They must learn to communicate, consult, collaborate, mentor, and work together toward a common vision for the progress of Ogbia Kingdom.

Our spiritual leadership provides moral guidance and values.

Our physical leadership provides governance, institutional direction, and community coordination.

Our youths represent the continuity, innovation, energy, and leadership future of our Kingdom.

When these three forces work together, leadership becomes stronger, succession becomes more secure, and development becomes more sustainable.

This, in my opinion, is one of the major lessons we can learn from the glorious history and spirit of the Ogbia Brotherhood—a period in which unity, shared responsibility, and collaboration among different sectors of our people contributed significantly to the strength and collective identity of Ogbia Kingdom.

The time has therefore come to deliberately rebuild and strengthen this foundation for our present generation and for generations yet unborn.

If given the privilege to serve as the Executive Chairman of Ogbia Local Government Area, I will make stakeholders' collaboration a strategic priority of my administration.

My vision will be to establish a solid and sustainable framework through which the spiritual leadership, physical leadership, and emerging leadership of our youths can regularly engage, consult, mentor one another, and participate in shaping the future of Ogbia Kingdom.

More importantly, I will work toward ensuring that this framework is supported by an appropriate legal and institutional structure within the Local Government system so that the culture of unity and collaboration will not depend solely on one administration or individual.

It must become an enduring foundation for governance and leadership development in Ogbia Kingdom.

My conviction is simple:

The restoration of the spirit of the Ogbia Brotherhood and the emergence of a stronger Ogbia Kingdom leadership will require more than good intentions. It will require a deliberate structure of unity, collaboration, mentorship, and shared responsibility.

We must bring our leaders together.

We must carry our youths along.

We must strengthen the moral foundation of leadership.

And we must build a system capable of sustaining these values beyond the tenure of any individual administration.

That is the foundation upon which I believe we can build a New Ogbia Kingdom Leadership—a leadership united in purpose, guided by values, strengthened by collaboration, and secured by a prepared generation of successors.

Together, let us lay that foundation.

Together, let us rebuild the culture of collaboration.

Together, let us prepare the leadership of tomorrow.

And together, let us move Ogbia Kingdom into a new chapter of unity, purposeful leadership, sustainable development, and greater possibilities.

Long Live Ogbia Kingdom!

Long Live the Great People and Youths of Ogbia Kingdom!!

*TOPIC*:

*DEVELOPING THE FREEDOM MENTALITY FOR OGBIA KINGDOM YOUTHS AS THE LEADERS OF TOMORROW*

*By Engr. (Pst.) Amakuro Followme Avula, MNSE, MOD*

My dear brothers and sisters of the Ogbia Kingdom,

In the previous editions of this Vision Series, I emphasized the need to deliberately involve our youths in the leadership process, preparing them not merely to follow today's leaders but to become the leaders and successors of tomorrow.

Today, I wish to take this conversation a step deeper by addressing something I consider fundamental to the leadership destiny of our youths—the *mentality of freedom*.

There is a difference between being delivered from bo***ge and being prepared to live responsibly in freedom.

The biblical story of Israel provides a powerful illustration. God raised Moses to deliver His people from over four hundred years of bo***ge in Egypt. Yet, their deliverance did not immediately take them into their Promised Land.

Instead, God took them through the wilderness—a season of training, testing, reorientation, and preparation. A journey that could have been completed much faster became a forty-year process because an entire generation struggled to develop the mentality required for the freedom and responsibility of their destination.

The lesson is profound:

*Divine deliverance opens the door to freedom, but the mentality to live responsibly in that freedom must be developed.*

When I look at the leadership journey of Ogbia Kingdom through the lens of history, I see a pattern that deserves serious reflection.

When our people needed a leadership breakthrough, God raised *Chief Melford Obiene Okilo, of blessed memory,* as a remarkable instrument of political and leadership advancement. Years later, another significant intervention came through the emergence of *Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as Nigeria's first Southern President.*

These historic developments should not only be celebrated as remarkable achievements; they should also be recognized as opportunities through which divine purpose can advance a people.

The question we must therefore ask is:

*How do we prepare our people to recognize, maximize, sustain, and build upon the opportunities that God provides?*

My conviction is that one of the greatest challenges confronting Ogbia Kingdom is not a lack of leadership potential. Our people are richly endowed with intelligence, courage, enterprise, and leadership capacity.

The challenge is developing the mindset, character, discipline, knowledge, and confidence required to translate divine opportunities into lasting freedom and generational leadership.*

We must therefore raise youths who understand that divine intervention and human responsibility are not opposites. When God opens doors, our people must be prepared to walk through them. When God raises leaders, the people must be prepared to maximize the opportunities that come through such leadership. And when opportunities are presented, our youths must possess the capacity to transform them into sustainable progress.

This is why I consider *leadership mindset development* one of the most important investments we can make in the future of Ogbia Kingdom.

If given the privilege to serve as the Executive Chairman of Ogbia Local Government Area, I will make the development of a *freedom mentality among our youths* a strategic priority of my administration.

Through the *Ogbia Kingdom Youth Leadership Development Initiatives,* we will promote sustained:

• Leadership mindset campaigns.

• Leadership training and reorientation.

• Mentorship programmes.

• Character and capacity development.

• Entrepreneurship and skills development.

• Civic and community leadership programmes.

Our objective will be to help our youths understand that every divine opportunity carries a responsibility to develop the capacity required to maximize it.

I believe strongly that *Ogbia Kingdom must remain open to divine interventions and visionary leadership whenever God chooses to raise them.* But we must equally prepare a generation capable of recognizing such interventions, participating responsibly in them, and building upon their gains for the benefit of generations yet unborn.

We therefore need a generation that will not only pray for divine intervention, but will also be prepared to *partner with divine opportunities through knowledge, character, competence, responsibility, and purposeful leadership.*

The greatest gift we can give the youths of Ogbia Kingdom is therefore both *the opportunity for divine intervention and the capacity to maximize it.*

- Let us develop their minds.

- Let us build their capacity.

- Let us teach them to take responsibility.

- Let us prepare them to recognize and maximize every God-given opportunity.

- Let us raise a generation capable of carrying the freedom, responsibility, and leadership destiny of Ogbia Kingdom into the future.

*Long Live Ogbia Kingdom!*

*Long Live the Great Youths of Ogbia Kingdom!!*

*"Divine intervention may open the door of opportunity for a people, but a prepared generation must have the mentality, character, and capacity to walk through that door and build upon what God has provided."*

AN OPEN LETTER OF APPRECIATION TO THE BAYELSA STATE & OGBIA LGA LEADERS OF THE APC

A Special Appreciation to Senator Douye Diri, Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, and Chief Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, Managing Director of the NDDC, for Laudable Developmental Projects in Kolo 1 Community, Ogbia LGA

By Engr. (Pst.) Amakuro , Followme Avula (aka Strongman, FAD), an Elder of the APC, Kolo 1 Community, Kolo Ward 9, Ogbia LGA, Bayelsa State

Dear Distinguished Leaders,

On behalf of the good, peaceful, and development-conscious people of Kolo 1 Community, and indeed the entire APC family in Kolo 1, I write this open letter to express our profound gratitude and sincere appreciation to the leadership of our great party and to all those whose commitment and influence have contributed to the ongoing developmental projects currently taking place in our community.

We particularly acknowledge and appreciate the leadership of His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, and Chief Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), for the attention being given to the developmental needs of our people.

1. A PAVILION THAT WILL SERVE AS A HOME FOR COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES

Under the leadership of the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, we are delighted to witness the ongoing construction of a 27m × 10.5m concrete-based pavilion at the Kolo 1 Town Square, being coordinated through the office of the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Dr. Peter Akpe, in collaboration with the Kolo Creek Rural Development Authority under the leadership of Chief Hon. Azibokodudo.

This is more than a physical structure.

For a community like Kolo 1, a properly constructed pavilion at the Town Square will provide a much-needed space where our people can gather for community meetings, cultural activities, social events, public engagements, and other important programmes without being unnecessarily exposed to the harsh effects of the sun and rain.

It will also serve as a rallying point for community interaction, unity, and collective development.

We sincerely appreciate everyone who played a role in making this project a reality.

2. A NEW STEP TOWARD ACCESS TO DRINKABLE WATER

We also recognize with profound appreciation the ongoing construction of a 10,000-gallon-capacity water supply facility in Kolo 1 Community, being coordinated through the Community Rural Development Projects of the NDDC under the leadership of Chief Dr. Samuel Ogbuku.

Access to clean and drinkable water is not a luxury. It is a fundamental necessity for healthy and productive community life.

When completed, this facility has the potential to significantly improve access to drinkable water for members of our community and contribute meaningfully to the wellbeing of our people.

For this intervention, we say a very big THANK YOU to the leadership and management of the NDDC and to everyone whose efforts have contributed to bringing this project to our doorstep.

OUR APPRECIATION GOES BEYOND POLITICS

As an elder of the APC in Kolo 1 Community, I believe that when government interventions produce tangible benefits for our people, such efforts deserve to be acknowledged and appreciated.

Our appreciation today is therefore not merely political. It is an expression of gratitude from a people who have seen developmental attention come directly into their community.

We also appreciate the various party leaders, government officials, community stakeholders, development agencies, and individuals who may have contributed directly or indirectly to the actualization of these projects.

Development is a collective responsibility, and every contribution toward improving the lives of our people deserves recognition.

A CALL FOR SUPPORT, UNITY AND CONTINUITY

At this point, I wish to call on the good people of Kolo 1 Community and the entire Kolo Kingdom to continue to support and encourage leaders who demonstrate commitment to the development of our communities.

Constructive support and peaceful cooperation will encourage our leaders to do even more.

I equally appeal to the members of the APC family in Kolo Ward 9 to continue to maintain unity, discipline, loyalty, and mutual respect as we work together toward strengthening our great party.

A united party is a stronger party.

A stronger party is better positioned to provide effective leadership and deliver more development to our people.

As we look toward forthcoming political engagements and elections, let us continue to support our leaders while promoting peace, understanding, and the collective interests of our people.

OUR MESSAGE IS SIMPLE: THANK YOU!

- To His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, we say:

Thank you for remembering Kolo 1.

- To Chief Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, we say:

Thank you for bringing NDDC's developmental intervention closer to our people.

- To Dr. Peter Akpe, Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, and Chief Hon. Azibokodudo of the Kolo Creek Rural Development Authority, we appreciate your roles and efforts toward the realization of the Town Square pavilion project.

- To all the leaders, officials, contractors, community stakeholders, and party faithful who have contributed to these interventions:

We see your efforts. We appreciate your service. And we pray that God will continue to give you the wisdom, strength, and resources to do more for our people.

The people of Kolo 1 Community are grateful.

The APC family in Kolo 1 is grateful.

And the entire Kolo Kingdom stands to benefit from these laudable interventions.

LONG LIVE KOLO 1 COMMUNITY!

LONG LIVE KOLO KINGDOM!

LONG LIVE OGBIA KINGDOM!

LONG LIVE THE APC!

LONG LIVE BAYELSA STATE!

LONG LIVE THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA!

*INVOLVING THE OGBIA YOUTHS IN THE KINGDOM LEADERSHIP PROJECT*

*By Engr. (Pst.) Amakuro Followme Avula, MNSE, MOD*

My dear brothers and sisters of Ogbia Kingdom,

In the previous edition, I emphasized the need to identify, develop, and release the enormous leadership potentials embedded in our youths. Today, I wish to take this conversation a step further by addressing a critical question:

Are we truly involving our youths in the real business of leadership?

For years, governments, political leaders, community institutions, and even religious organizations have spoken passionately about youth development. Yet, in many cases, these declarations have produced little meaningful change. Too often, a small group of youths is selected, settled, and sent back to pacify the larger youth population, while the greater number remain excluded from the real processes of leadership and decision-making.

This is not genuine youth development.

Having worked closely with the youths of Ogbia Kingdom for more than eight years, I have observed a significant gap between our youth population and the leadership structures of many public, private, community, political, and even religious institutions.

The danger is obvious: an institution that does not intentionally involve its youths in leadership today may have no prepared successors tomorrow.

Youth involvement must therefore go beyond carrying bags, mobilizing crowds, attending political rallies, or serving as foot soldiers for the ambitions of older leaders.

Our youths must be brought from the backstage into the leadership process itself.

They must be allowed to observe, participate, learn, contribute, ask questions, make responsible decisions, receive mentorship, and gradually assume greater leadership responsibilities.

This is particularly important if we truly desire to restore the unity of purpose that once characterized the great leadership of Ogbia Kingdom during the prime days of the Ogbia Brotherhood.

As I have consistently emphasized, we must strengthen collaboration among the spiritual, traditional, political, community, professional, and other leadership structures of our Kingdom—and our youths must be deliberately integrated into this collaborative leadership structure.

They must not simply be the followers of today's leaders; they must become the apprentices, partners, and emerging successors of today's leadership.

If given the privilege to serve as the Executive Chairman of Ogbia Local Government Area, youth involvement in leadership and governance will be a deliberate priority of my administration.

I will work toward creating platforms through which youths from across the 52 communities can participate meaningfully in leadership development, stakeholder consultations, community planning, governance education, mentorship, and development initiatives.

I will also seek to move away from the practice of divide and rule, where a few youth representatives are used to calm the larger youth population while the majority remain disconnected from the opportunities and knowledge required for responsible leadership.

We must stop using our youths merely to fight the battles of political leaders.

We must begin preparing them to lead.

The Ogbia youth must move from being foot soldiers to frontline leaders; from spectators to participants; from followers to future successors.

My vision is to build a leadership culture in which today's leaders consciously carry tomorrow's leaders along, so that the leadership of Ogbia Kingdom becomes a continuous process of mentoring, succession, and generational transformation.

The youths are not merely the leaders of tomorrow.

They are the leadership of tomorrow being prepared today.

Let us involve them.

Let us mentor them.

Let us trust them with responsibility.

Let us prepare them to take over.

Long Live Ogbia Kingdom!

Long Live the Great Youths of Ogbia Kingdom!!

HARNESSING THE LEADERSHIP POTENTIALS OF OUR YOUTHS TO BECOME THE LEADERS OF TOMORROW

By Engr. (Pst.) Amakuro Followme Avula, MNSE, MOD

My dear brothers and sisters of Ogbia Kingdom,

In the previous edition of this Vision Series, I emphasized the urgent need to rescue our youths from destructive social vices through deliberate reorientation, mentorship, and leadership development. Today, we take the conversation one step further by focusing on an equally important responsibility—identifying, developing, and releasing the enormous leadership potential that already exists within the youths of Ogbia Kingdom.

Every young person is born with unique gifts and abilities. The responsibility of true leadership is not only to correct wrong behaviour but also to discover hidden potential, nurture it, and provide opportunities for it to flourish. A society that fails to develop the talents of its young people unknowingly weakens its own future.

Having worked closely with the youths of Ogbia Kingdom for more than eight years through our Youth Leadership Development initiatives, I have come to appreciate the exceptional qualities that God has deposited in them. I have seen firsthand that our youths possess remarkable leadership potential waiting to be properly harnessed.

One unique characteristic of the Ogbia youth is a natural desire for independence. Unlike many who wait endlessly for external assistance, many of our young people possess an inner drive to create opportunities for themselves and to take responsibility for their future. This spirit of initiative is one of the strongest indicators of leadership potential. It reflects confidence, courage, and the willingness to take responsibility—qualities that every great leader must possess.

Beyond this, the youths of Ogbia Kingdom are widely known for their intelligence, resilience, hard work, and enterprising spirit. These qualities have enabled many of our sons and daughters to distinguish themselves in different professions, businesses, and fields of endeavour both within and outside our Kingdom.

What our youths need, therefore, is not a change of identity but the right guidance. Through intentional leadership training, mentorship, character development, and skills acquisition, these natural abilities can be refined and transformed into productive leadership that will benefit our communities and our Kingdom.

If given the privilege to serve as the Executive Chairman of Ogbia Local Government Area, I will place deliberate emphasis on programmes that identify gifted young people across our communities, nurture their leadership capacities, and connect them with opportunities to serve, innovate, and contribute meaningfully to the development of Ogbia Kingdom.

My vision is to raise a generation of visionary, disciplined, innovative, and responsible young leaders who will not only succeed personally but will also become agents of transformation in their families, communities, and the entire Ogbia Kingdom.

I firmly believe that the future greatness of Ogbia Kingdom lies within the untapped potential of our youths. When we intentionally discover, develop, and deploy these potentials, we will not only secure the leadership of tomorrow but also lay the foundation for sustainable peace, prosperity, and development.

Let us believe in our youths.

Let us invest in their potential.

Let us prepare them to lead.

Long Live Ogbia Kingdom!

Long Live the Great Youths of Ogbia Kingdom!!

TOPIC:

DEVELOPING THE LEADERS OF TOMORROW THROUGH YOUTH LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT (2)

By Engr. (Pst.) Amakuro Followme Avula, MNSE, MOD

My dear brothers and sisters of Ogbia Kingdom,

In the previous edition of this Vision Series, I emphasized that no society can achieve lasting development without intentionally preparing its young people for leadership. Today, I wish to take that discussion a step further by drawing attention to one of the greatest threats confronting the future leadership of our Kingdom—the growing involvement of many young people in destructive social vices.

Across many communities today, we are witnessing increasing concerns about youth involvement in illicit drug abuse, internet fraud, community violence, cult-related activities, and other harmful behaviours. These challenges do not only affect the individuals involved; they also threaten the peace, security, productivity, and leadership future of our communities.

Having spent more than eight years working closely with young people across many communities in Ogbia Kingdom through our Youth Leadership Development initiatives, I have come to the firm conviction that the challenge before us requires a more coordinated response. While many families, community leaders, faith-based organizations, and government agencies are making commendable efforts, much more remains to be done if we are to safeguard the next generation of leaders.

One lesson I have learned from my engagement with our youths is that many of them are not beyond redemption. What they often need is guidance, mentorship, opportunity, and hope. When young people discover purpose, develop valuable skills, and begin to see a meaningful future ahead of them, they are far more likely to make positive choices and contribute to society.

This is why I believe that youth rescue, reorientation, and leadership development should become a strategic priority of governance at the grassroots. As the closest tier of government to the people, the Local Government Council is well positioned to mobilize communities, coordinate stakeholders, and implement programmes that directly impact our youths.

If given the privilege to serve as the Executive Chairman of Ogbia Local Government Area, I will make the rescue and empowerment of our youths one of the major priorities of my administration. We will promote sustained awareness campaigns, leadership development programmes, mentorship initiatives, skills acquisition, and value-based orientation designed to help our young people discover their God-given potential and prepare for responsible leadership.

Beyond reorientation, my administration will also connect our youths with the rural economic development initiatives proposed under my Fourth Agenda. Through agriculture, aquaculture, small-scale industries, digital skills, entrepreneurship, and community-based enterprises, we will encourage young people to build sustainable livelihoods within Ogbia Kingdom, creating wealth and opportunities without feeling compelled to leave their communities in search of survival.

I firmly believe that the future of Ogbia Kingdom depends on the choices we make today concerning our youths. If we rescue their minds, develop their talents, and invest in their leadership, we will secure a stronger, safer, and more prosperous Kingdom for generations to come.

Let us work together to restore hope to our youths.

Let us raise a generation prepared to lead.

Long Live Ogbia Kingdom!

Long Live the Great Youths of Ogbia Kingdom!!
