The English word "wait" typically implies staying in one place, engaging in inactivity until a specific event or time, just as Like we do at the red of traffic light. We passively wait for the green light!
The concept of "waiting" takes on a deeper meaning when we explore its translations in Hebrew and Greek within biblical texts.
In particular, the Hebrew word "qavah" encapsulates a broader range of meanings beyond mere passivity.. It invites us to embrace āwaitā as a dynamic activity rather than a passive state of idleness. It literally means to āwork outā or ābind togetherā.
Though there is no direct Greek equivalent to the Hebrew word "qavah," the closest term is "anameno," which conveys the idea of actively waiting or eagerly looking for something.
In the Bible, "qavah" is frequently used in relation to waiting for hope or waiting upon God. On the other hand, the antonym of "anameno," which is "perimeno" (tarry), is employed when waiting for the future or the promises of God.
This distinction exists because when it comes to God's promises, there is a predetermined "fullness of time" attached to them. Human efforts, such as prayer, faith, or fasting, do not influence the timing of these promises. We passively "perimeno" or tarry for their realization. However, when it comes to hope, we are encouraged to actively wait or āqavahā for it!
Hope is not bound by chronology like promises; instead, it is all the spiritual blessings we have BLESSED with in Christ in heaven.
You see , With the fulfillment of all God's promises accomplished, particularly through the events of Calvary and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost, there are no outstanding promises left except for the promise of resurrection.
Therefore, as Christians, unless we are reffering to the resurrection, there is no promise to tarry for anymore .
In Christ all promises are yea and amen!
Jesus, in His teachings, rarely mentioned the promises of God, except when referring to the promise of the Holy Spirit. Because he was the promise ! If you have Christ you have the fulfilled promise!
For these reasons, we actively actively wait or "qavah" for hope,
healing is hope, your prosperity is hope , your peace, your good marriage , your next level, your upgrade , your new born baby! Are all laid up for you !
You donāt tarry for them ! You qavah for them!
