DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION).

DATE: THURSDAY, 4TH JUNE, 2026.

TOPIC: GOD OVERLOOKS OUR TIME OF IGNORANCE.

TEXT: GALATIANS 1:11-17.

11. I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the gospel I preached is not of human origin.
12. I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ.
13. For you have heard of my previous way of life in Judaism, how intensely I persecuted the church of God and tried to destroy it.
14. I was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my own age among my people and was extremely zealous for the traditions of my fathers.
15. But when God, who set me apart from my mother’s womb and called me by his grace, was pleased
16. to reveal his Son in me so that I might preach him among the Gentiles, my immediate response was not to consult any human being.
17. I did not go up to Jerusalem to see those who were apostles before I was, but I went into Arabia. Later I returned to Damascus.

MESSAGE:
There is no doubt that the apostle Paul was a great man through whom the Lord sharpened the theology and spirituality of the Church. Interestingly, there was a time in Paul's life when he was an enemy of the cross. He was an unrepentant promoter of Judaism and a zealous persecutor of the Church of Christ.

But when God showed him mercy and turned his life around, he became a vessel of glory and honour in the hands of God and the Church till today still celebrates his great work in the Kingdom of Christ (vv.13-17).
Beloved, there is no doubt that God is interested in turning every life around and making something great out of what the devil has corrupted through sin. God is focusing on your life; He wants to change you inside and outside. He wants you to surrender to Him and allow Him make you into the vessel that will bring His glory in your own world. As He used Paul to accomplish great things, so He desires to engage your life as an instrument of change and positive influence in your family, among your friends and in the society. He is calling you to cooperate with Him so He can bring the best out of you. There are greater things God wishes to use you achieve in this world. Allow Him to work His full purpose in you.

PRAYER:
Father, give me the grace to make myself ready for Your use in my world. Amen.

TOPIC: DO NOT DESERT THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST.

TEXT: GALATIANS 1:6-10.

6. marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel,
7. which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert[a] the gospel of Christ.
8. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be [b]accursed.
9. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.
10. For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.

MESSAGE:
One of the central discussions of Paul in his epistle to the Galatians is the sufficiency of faith in Jesus Christ to obtain the salvation of God. The mention of a 'different gospel' or 'another gospel' refers simply to the addition of the Jewish rite of circumcision and other demands of Jewish laws on the Gentiles who became followers of Christ, by some overzealous preachers of the time. In addition, these preachers held that the Jewish Christians must still continue to observe all the required Jewish laws (Acts 15:1-5). Paul maintained that it does not matter who the preacher is, there is no other gospel apart from that which presents Jesus Christ as the sufficient Saviour of mankind. He stressed that faith in Jesus Christ alone guarantees justification (Gal. 3:15&16).
Beloved, there are still preachers today who mislead people and drag them into bo***ge rather than the liberty which Jesus Christ brought to the world. As Christians, we must understand that Jesus Christ paid the supreme price of His life to obtain eternal salvation for us. The law and its observance could not deliver mankind from sin and the grip of Satan.

This was the reason Jesus gave Himself for our deliverance. You are not supposed to throw yourself into any bo***ge as a result of 'another gospel.' You have access to God's abundant treasure by your faith In Jesus Christ (Rom. 5:1&2). No more, no less. Do not turn away from the gospel of Christ or allow someone to get you off the track of genuine Christian faith.

PRAYER:
Father, please help me to hold to my faith in Jesus Christ. Amen.

DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION).

DATE: TUESDAY, 2ND JUNE, 2026.

TOPIC: OUR DELIVERANCE IS CERTAIN IN JESUS.

TEXT: GALATIANS 1:1-5.
1. Paul, an apostle (not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father who raised Him from the dead),
2. and all the brethren who are with me,
3. Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ,
4. who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,
5. to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

MESSAGE:
The Epistle to te Galatians was written by the Apostle Paul at around AD 49. In the opening verses which we read today, Paul pointed out that our deliverance was brought about by the death of Jesus Christ (v.4). In other words, Jesus Christ surrendered Himself to the death upon the cross for the single purpose of saving mankind from sins (Matt. 1:21; Phil. 2:8), and as well, deliver anyone who comes to Him from the evil of the present age. Without any controversy, Jesus is the one that can save from eternal destruction (John 3:16). There is no other name by which anyone might be saved, apart from Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12).
Beloved, there is no need to worry or panic each time the enemy comes like a flood (Isa. 59:19).

Jesus Christ has purchased salvation for us and has delivered us from all satanic forces (Col. 1:13 & 14). He is the head of all principalities and power (Col. 2:10). Note that the greatest deliverance every person must experience is the deliverance from sin. A forgiven sinner can rise to challenge the enemy of his soul and demand for his deliverance from any power and organised programme of the enemy (Col. 2:13-15). As a Christian, you are to raise your shoulders high against the devil because your sins are forgiven and your total deliverance is secured by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, grant me understanding to walk in the victory You have secured for me, all the days of my life. Amen.

TOPIC: ANNUNCIATION: MARY WAS FAVOURED.

TEXT: LUKE 1:29-39.

29. But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was.
30. Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.
31. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus.
32. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David.
33. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”
34. Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I [b]do not know a man?”
35. And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.
36. Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren.
37. For with God nothing will be impossible.”
38. Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.
39. Now Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, to a city of Judah,

MESSAGE:
Today we remember and celebrate the annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Annunciation reminds us of the announcement of the birth of Jesus Christ by the angel Gabriel to Mary, the mother of our Lord. Interestingly, Mary was not the only virgin in the land. Virginity was a God-commanded virtue in Israel (Deut. 22:23&24). In other words, it was not virginity that qualified Mary for the honour of being the mother of our Lord. Angel Gabriel stated clearly, "For you have found favour with God” (v.32). So, it was not human qualifications but Divine favour.
Beloved, while it is a great thing for you to work hard and be resilient, you need Divine favour. God's favour brings to a man what his strength cannot fetch.

When God shines His light of favour upon you, everyone around you will be lost in wonder. What is termed impossible in your life could be made possible by the reason of God's favour. God has promised that He would arise and have mercy upon you because the set time to favour you has come (Psa. 102:13). As He favoured Mary, so shall He also favour you in all areas of life! You are God's candidate for Divine favour.

PRAYER:
Father, let your favour rest upon me now and always, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

TOPIC: KNOWING AND EXPERIENCING GOD

TEXT: ‭JOHN 14:8-17

8. Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”
9. Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
10. Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.
11. Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves.
12. Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.
13. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
15. “If you love me, keep my commands.
16. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—
17. the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

MESSAGE:
Philip asks Jesus to show them the Father, and Jesus responds by explaining that anyone who has seen Him has seen the Father. Jesus addresses Philip's desire to "see the Father," by offering deep insights into the nature of knowing and experiencing God. He reveals how the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, interconnect in the Trinity, and how we can know and experience God. Jesus reveals that He is the embodiment of the Father, stating, "Whoever has seen me has seen the Father." This emphasises that true knowledge of God is found in encountering Jesus Christ. Jesus further emphasises His unity with the Father and promises that those who believe in Him will do even greater works.

Furthermore, Jesus promises the gift of the Holy Spirit, who would indwell believers and guide them into all truth. The Holy Spirit is a constant companion, enabling us to experience God's presence in our lives.

Our text today invites us to deepen our understanding of the Trinity and to cultivate a personal relationship with God through Jesus, to study His life and teachings, and to allow the Holy Spirit to guide us into a more intimate understanding of God's love and grace. As we cultivate a closer relationship with Christ, we will increasingly come to know the Father and experience His love and presence in our lives.

PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, help me to know You more deeply and to experience Your presence in my life, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

TOPIC: REKINDLING KOINONIA

TEXT: ACTS 2:37-47.

37. When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”
38. Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”
40. With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.”
41. Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. The Fellowship of the Believers
42. They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
43. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles.
44. All the believers were together and had everything in common.
45. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.
46. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts,
47. praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

MESSAGE:
Our text paints a vivid picture of the early church, not just as a gathering of individuals, but as a vibrant community deeply rooted in koinonia - fellowship. It highlights key aspects of their community: Devoted study of the apostles' teachings, genuine love and care for one another, shared meals, consistent prayer, and radical generosity in sharing their possessions. These characteristics created a powerful and changed-making community that experienced rapid growth and impacted the world around them.

This passage challenges us to examine the state of koinonia in our churches today and consider how we can revive this essential element of Christian life.

How can we do this? By prioritising authentic relationships, creating opportunities for meaningful interaction, practising generosity, deepening our prayer lives, and studying God's Word together. If we do these, we can cultivate a deeper sense of community and experience the power of Christian fellowship. Let us strive to build churches where love abounds, where burdens are shared, and where we truly live out the gospel together. We must encourage one other to live out our faith in practical ways, supporting one another and growing together in Christ.

PRAYER:
Lord, grant me the grace to love one another as You have loved us, to share my resources, and to grow in our faith together. Amen.

TOPIC: PROOF OF POWER THROUGH HOLY GHOST.

TEXT: ACTS 2:29-36.

29. “Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.
30. Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, [a]according to the flesh, He would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne,
31. he, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption.
32. This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses.
33. Therefore being exalted [b]to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.
34. “For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he says himself: ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand,
35. Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.”
36. “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”

MESSAGE:
Our text provides a powerful testament to the power of the Holy Spirit to transform lives. Peter, filled with the Spirit, delivered a profound message, connecting the events of Pentecost to the prophecies of David in Psalm 16. Peter masterfully demonstrates how the events unfolding before their eyes - the resurrection of Jesus and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit - were foretold by David centuries before. This connection strengthens the credibility of the gospel message and underscores the sovereignty of God's plan. Peter boldly proclaimed Jesus as both Lord and Christ, emphasising His divine authority and His place at the right hand of God.

This declaration challenged the listeners to acknowledge Jesus' Lordship and repent of their sins. It further highlighted the resurrection of Jesus as the cornerstone of the Christian faith, emphasising that Jesus' resurrection is not only a historical fact but also the source of life and hope for all who believe. What we learn from this encounter is that just as the Holy Spirit empowered Peter to deliver an effective message, it empowers us today to share our faith with boldness and conviction.

PRAYER:
Lord, fill me with your Holy Spirit, and empower me to share the gospel of Jesus with clarity and conviction. Amen.

TOPIC: PROFITABLE EFFECT OF HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM.

TEXT: ACTS 2:14-28.

14. Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say.
15. These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It’s only nine in the morning!
16. No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
17. “‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.
18. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.
19. I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke.
20. The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.
21. And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’[a]
22. “Fellow Israelites, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know.
23. This man was handed over to you by God’s deliberate plan and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men,[b] put him to death by nailing him to the cross.
24. But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him.
25. David said about him: “‘I saw the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
26. Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices my body also will rest in hope,
27. because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, you will not let your holy one see decay.
28. You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence

MESSAGE:
Our text provides a powerful account of Peter's Pentecost sermon, where he clearly explains the significance of the Spirit's outpouring. This event wasn't just a show; it marked a turning point in the history of the early church. Peter, with the eleven, were earlier hiding behind closed doors for fear of the Jews, but the spirit came upon them and had a positive, profitable effect on their lives and ministry. Before Pentecost, the disciples were fearful and hesitant. However, empowered by the Holy Spirit, Peter boldly addressed the surprised crowd, proclaiming the resurrection of Jesus, with conviction. This demonstrates how the Spirit equips believers with courage, enabling them to overcome fear and share their faith with the world. Peter's message was not merely a recounting of events; it was a powerful proclamation of the gospel filled with the Spirit's anointing.

The crowd, deeply impacted by his words, were "cut to the heart" and inquired about what they should do. This shows the power of a Spirit-filled message, convicting hearts and leading to repentance. As a result of Peter's Spirit-empowered message, thousands were saved. The early church experienced explosive growth, demonstrating the incredible impact that Spirit-filled ministry can have. This serves as a powerful reminder that the Holy Spirit is the key to effective evangelism and church growth. To deal with fear, and to be able to stand up like Peter and remain standing amid attacks and arrows against the Christian faith in our day, the spirit baptism is essential. We must seek the fullness of the Spirit today.

PRAYER:
Lord, fill me with Your Holy Spirit, empowering me to be a bold and effective witness for You. Grant me the courage to share Your love with the world. Amen.

TOPIC: THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

TEXT: ACTS 2:1-13
1. When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.
2. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.
3. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.
4. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues[a] as the Spirit enabled them.
5. Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven.
6. When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken.
7. Utterly amazed, they asked: “Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans?
8. Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language?
9. Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,[b]
10. Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome
11. (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!”
12. Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?”
13. Some, however, made fun of them and said, “They have had too much wine.”

MESSAGE:
Our Lord Jesus Christ had earlier devoted quality time in teaching His disciples about the person of the Holy Spirit and His importance in believers' lives (Acts 1:4-8).

During His teaching, He explained that being baptised with water was not all that God wanted for His children, but that they should be baptised with the Holy Ghost as well (Acts 1:4; Joel 2:28, 29 Luke 24:49). The teachings of Christ present to believers the benefits they will derive from being baptised in the Holy Ghost. The baptism of the Holy Ghost makes supernatural power available for the believers (Acts 1:8; Luke 24:49).

Holy Ghost baptism releases boldness upon the believers for an effective life of witnessing for Christ (Acts 1:8; 4:31). The Holy Ghost baptism enhances the manifestations of spiritual gift in believers' life (Acts 2:1-4, 11; Joel 2:28, 29).

Our text for today serves as a guide to the possibility of spirit baptism. What God did for Christ's disciples in the upper room on the day of Pentecost can be replicated in the life God's children who thirst and hunger for righteousness and are ready to come to Him in faith (Acts 1:39; Joel 2:28; Matt. 5:6; Acts 15:8, 9).

To be baptised with the Holy Ghost, the believer must be pure and thirsty, with evidence of hunger for the fullness and the power of God. He/she must also ask in faith (Matt. 5:8; John 7:37, 38; Luke 11:9-13).

PRAYER:
Let Your Spirit rest upon me, O Lord.
