USING WHAT YOU HAVE TO GET WHAT YOU NEED
Text GEN 2:15-25
Ge:2:15: And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. :16: And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:17: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. 18: And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. :19: And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. 20: And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him. :21: And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; 22: And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. 23: And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. 24: Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. 25: And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
In the text we read in Genesis 2 after God finished creating everything, Bible says He brought them to Adam to see if there will be any help meet for him
But there was no suitable help meeting for Adam. There is a need there yet the Bible has said that God had finished the work of creation. So what will God do now? Instead of God cracking His mind on what to do or re-start the creation again. The Bible says that he made Adam sleep and took from Adam a RIB, from that rib He formed the woman. He didn’t need to breathe into the woman because life was already in it.
God used what He had to meet the need He had.
This is the principle that He has applied all through the ages whenever and wherever there is material need. There are just 2-3 occasions when He has to use fresh material but in most cases, He used already existent material to supply the need. May God supply all your needs in Jesus name.
Elisha and the widow woman
In the story of the widow whose husband was a prophet, Elisha asked her what she had in her house. From the little oil she got barrels of oil with which she paid her debt off and lived on the remaining.
2Ki:4:2: And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil.:3: Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few.:4: And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full. :5: So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out.:6: And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed.:7: Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children of the rest.
The question now is what do you have in your house that God can put His blessings on. When He does that, what you have will multiply. Many of us will say we don’t have anything. It is not true. We have something if only we can be introspective..
Elisha and 20 loaves of bread
In 2Kg chapter 4 , 20 loaves of bread were brought to Elisha to feed 100 men with, at the end they ate and had left over
2Ki:4:42-44: And there came a man from Baal-shalisha, and brought the man of God bread of the firstfruits, twenty loaves of barley, and full ears of corn in the husk thereof. And he said, Give unto the people, that they may eat. 43: And his servitor said, What, should I set this before an hundred men? He said again, Give the people, that they may eat: for thus saith the LORD, They shall eat, and shall leave thereof. 44: So he set it before them, and they did eat, and left thereof, according to the word of the LORD.
A man brought 20 loaves of bread to Elisha and Elisha asked his servant to share it but the servant complained that it would not suffice the 100 people. Elisha insisted that he should share the loaves.
Elijah and the widow of Zarephath
In 1 Kg the widow of Zarephath had just a little flour but the encounter with Elijah produced a continuous supply of flour while the famine lasted.
1Ki:17:10: So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.:11: And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand. :12: And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.13: And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.:14: For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth.:15: And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.:16: And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah.
In the new testament. In Matt 14, Bible says that 5 loaves of bread was used to feed 5000 while 7 loaves of bread in Mt 15:34 was used to feed 4000 men
M't:14:16-20: 16 But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat. :17: And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes. :18: He said, Bring them hither to me. :19: And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. :20: And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.
Jesus made use of what was available to supply what was needed.
A NEW TESTAMENT MAN
A new creation man is loaded. All that a new creation needs has been placed inside of him. Eph 1:3
We have been blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places.
Eph:1:3: Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
2Pet 1:3 according has His divine power has given unto us all that pertain to godliness and life in Christ Jesus.
1Cor 2:12 says we received the Holy Spirit that we may know those things that have freely given unto us by God
ROM 11:21 If God spared not His own son but delivered him for us all, how shall He not also freely give us things by Him.
All these scriptures and many more tells us that a new creation is loaded.
The question is why is it then that a Christian is suffering from lack, living in poverty, sick, discouraged, depressed, at loss, confused, etc?
It is because the Christian lacks the knowledge of what he has and if he knows he doesn’t know how to appropriate them.
Hoshea 4: 6 says my people perish for lack of knowledge
The average Christian is crying to God to bless him, prosper him, begging and pleading for favour, trying to motivate God, fast and praying hard so that God can release and open heaven. As if it's up to God. Nope, it's not up to God if we prosper, healed now because He has done all that could be done and placed in us all we need for victorious Christian life.
A Christian should learn what has been given to him and learn how to release and appropriate them instead of looking for a prophet or apostle.
I love Peter in Acts 3:6 Peter knew what he had and he told the man that which I have given I unto thee. He recognized that he had something. Say I have something. He didn’t pray.
One of the things that makes our faith begin to work is in this principle. recognizing what we have. In Phil 1:6 Paul prayed for Philemon that the communication of his faith becomes effectual by acknowledging every good thing in him in Christ Jesus.
Phm:1:6: That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.
In us we don’t have any good thing but in Christ Jesus we are awesome.
For supernatural increment to work in our lives we need to use what we have to produce increment. Somebody will say I am not Peter, I don’t have that kind of power or anointing. It's not true.
The same faith that Peter used here is us, we have the faith of Jesus in us Roma 12:2, 2Pet1:1 We also have the unction, anointing, power Act 1:8, 1Jn 2:20, 27. It's not coming down so don’t look up; it’s in you.
How do we cause the little that we have to grow-that’s increment?
We go back to a few of the examples that we have cited and see what those men did to cause supernatural increase.
In 1KG 17. Elijah asked the woman to get him first his own meal and later get her own, the woman initially protested and told him that what she has can only be sufficient for the family after which they will die.
This is what causes the increment. Elijah made a declaration through prophesy that the barrel of the meal shall not waste and the cruise of oil shall not die. The Bible testified that in verse 14..that surely the barrel did not waste according to the word of Elijah
1Ki 17:14 KJV For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruise of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth.
May I announce to somebody here, there is 24 hours’ turn around in your favour in Jesus name.
In 2Kg 4:42 when they brought to Elisha the 20 loaves of bread for 100 men instead of him complaining he did what Elijah did. He too began to prophesy and it was so.
He despised what he had. Don’t despise the little you have because they are material for the supernatural increment we want.
Thanksgiving is a platform for increase and multiplication
When what we have cannot meet our needs rather than fights, murmur and complain, you use the anointing in you to make a declaration. If they get results we also will get results.
Instead of Christian doing this, they condemn and despise the little they have. The bible says who art thou that despise the days of little beginning.
Zec:4:10: For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth.
God has a mind concerning the little in Isaiah, He says a little shall become a thousand.
Isa:60:22: A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation: I the LORD will hasten it in his time.
Conclusion
Look inward to cause a change on the outward. Give what you have to your career, business you will experience supernatural growth. Give it to your home, provision, body
Prayers:
I speak over my destiny and life, I command supernatural increase over my home, over my business, over my income
Every yoke of lack and insufficiency, I command them to be broken in Jesus name
Every devourer assigned over my life be destroyed in Jesus name
I declare by prophecy that this week is my week of blessing, week of fruitfulness, help shall locate me.
