Prayer is good. But prayer is a relationship with God, not a substitute for addressing the existential issues we have the responsibility to solve.
Prayer will not fix our country. No nation has been fixed by just praying.
In the world, Nigeria has the highest rate of women that die during child birth.
Over 75,000 women die annually while giving birth in Nigeria.
But Nigeria has the highest rate of praying women during pregnancy and childbirth.
Almost every prayer ministry and church in Nigeria organizes prayers for pregnant women.
If you attend some of these prayer sessions, you may weep.
Ministers give pregnant women “holy water” and cooking oil, which they call anointing oil, to drink. Decreeing and declaring, as if safe delivery is by decree and declaration.
If we genuinely pray, we would have been hearing the voice of God telling us to stop disturbing him over what we have to fix ourselves.
