Topic: Arrest Them
Text: Songs of Solomon 2:15
*Introduction*
The Bible says in Songs of Solomon 2:15, “Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines…”
The “little foxes” represent small sins, unnoticed habits, and hidden weaknesses that gradually destroy a believer’s spiritual life. If they are not arrested early, they will grow and ruin destiny.
Sin does not start big it begins small, then expands. That is why we must arrest them early.
*The Danger of the Lust of the Flesh*
The lust of the flesh is like those little foxes — it starts small (a look, a thought, a desire) but quickly spoils the vine if not arrested.
Biblical Examples of Lust Leading to Ruin:
2 Samuel 11 — David and Bathsheba
David, a man after God's own heart, was at home instead of at war. He saw Bathsheba bathing, lusted after her, sent for her, committed adultery, tried to cover it up, and eventually arranged the murder of her husband Uriah.
One "little fox" (a lingering look and unchecked desire) led to adultery, deception, murder, and great pain in David's family and kingdom. The thing displeased the Lord greatly.
Lesson: Lust doesn't stay small. It grows and demands more.
2 Samuel 13 — Amnon and Tamar
Amnon, David's son, became obsessed with his half-sister Tamar. His lust made him physically ill. He devised a wicked plan, r***d her, and then despised her.
This act sparked revenge, family division, and Absalom's later rebellion.
Lesson: Uncontrolled lust destroys relationships, innocence, and families.
2 Samuel 16:20-23 — Absalom and David's Concubines
During Absalom's rebellion, his advisor Ahithophel counseled him to publicly sleep with his father's concubines on the palace roof — an open act of humiliation and rebellion.
This fulfilled part of God's judgment on David's earlier sin but showed how lust and power can lead to public shame and deeper wickedness.
Lesson: Sin left unchecked spreads and affects entire communities.
*Control Your Tongue and Mouth*
The tongue is a "little member" but can set a great fire (James 3:5-6).
Uncontrolled words can fuel lust (dirty talk, gossip, flattery that leads to sin) or release it (boasting about sinful acts).
Proverbs 18:21 — "Death and life are in the power of the tongue."
Proverbs 21:23 — "Whoever guards his mouth and tongue keeps his soul from troubles."
Application: Arrest sinful speech early. Don't let your mouth give sin a voice.
*Conclusion and Altar Call*
The little foxes (lust of the flesh, uncontrolled tongue) are already in many vineyards today — spoiling marriages, ministries, youth, and destinies.
Arrest them today! Don't wait until the damage is great. Catch them while the vines are still tender.
Jesus has already defeated sin on the cross. Through His righteousness and the power of prayer, you can have victory.
If you are struggling with lust, impure thoughts, or words that harm — come forward. Repent, receive forgiveness, and commit to fighting with righteousness and prayer.
Prayer of commitment: "Lord, help me arrest every little fox in my life. Make me righteous and teach me to pray without ceasing. In Jesus' name, Amen."
Key Takeaway:
Little sins seem harmless, but they spoil the beautiful work God is doing in you. Arrest them by living righteously and praying fervently.
