Topic: THE SIGN OF JONAH- Rev. Samuel Ifeanyi Michael
Text: Matthew 12:38–40, Mark 16:15–20, Romans 10:17, John 20:29

KEYNOTES:

*The cross is the greatest sign of God's love towards us.

*Believers sometimes do not need to have control over the miracles that happen around them.
Signs and wonders are supposed to happen with or without their consent and approval (Mark
16:17–18).

*There's no need for a special miracle service. Miracles are supposed to break out every time
God's word is preached.

*Signs and wonders breaking out in our midst are not an issue; the real issue sometimes can be
unbelief. Jesus didn't do much miracles in His village because of unbelief and “see finish”

*Every sign and miracle that Jesus did pointed to the sign of Jonah. His miracles had something to do with the cross.

*The blind receiving sight pointed to spiritual illumination.

*The cleansing of lepers pointed to cleansing from sin.

*The feeding of thousands pointed to Christ as the Bread of Life.

*The raising of Lazarus pointed to Jesus as the Resurrection and the Life.

*Every miracle was preaching through Christ. Every sign was announcing redemption. The miracles were temporary. The cross accomplished eternal redemption.

*As Christians, we should not chase after signs and wonders because signs and wonders are not
exclusive to Christians. Signs and wonders should not be a marketing tool for the church.

*God communicates to us in clear terms. The devil is the author of confusion.

*Every other miracle is temporary. The only miracle that lasts forever is eternal life

*HOW TO WAIT UPON GOD*

*Isaiah 40:28-31 (LB)*

*…Don’t you know…that the everlasting God, the Creator of the…earth, never grows faint or weary? …. He gives power to the tired and worn out, and strength to the weak. Even the youths shall be exhausted, and the young men will all give up. But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.*

There is a big difference between waiting for something to happen and waiting on God for the manifestation of what you believe He has already done for you in Christ (Rom. 8:32, 2Pet. 1:3, Col. 2:10).

The first thing to do when you’re waiting upon God is to have faith that because of Christ, God has already done what you desire from Him. You must then stay in faith by keeping your focus on Christ. Study the revelation of Christ and keep hearing the Gospel (Col. 3:16, Rom. 10:17). Labour in the word to enter God’s rest about the issue (Heb. 4:11-12). Keep declaring what God says about you and keep praising Him for the victory you already have (Rom. 4:17-21).

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus” (Phil. 4:6-7, NLT). Keep praying and receiving God’s peace about the situation. Pray until you have that note of victory on your inside. Remember, you’re not praying to make God do it; you are praying to align yourself with God and receive what He has done already. Pray in the Spirit and also yield yourself to the leading of the Spirit.

*Prayer:*
Father, I thank you that in Christ, you have given me the victory. I receive your grace to remain strong in faith till it manifests.
