A viral video circulated showing police officers and security personnel directing and hailing heavily armed gunmen on motorcycles as they passed through a checkpoint. Security sources indicated the incident occurred in the Northwest region between Zamfara and Sokoto states, where bandit militias are highly active.

According to an official statement by the Nigeria Police Force, the armed individuals are registered hunters and recognized members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN). The encounter occurred in Katsina State as the police and local security volunteers held a routine interaction before proceeding to a joint operation against actual criminals.

The clip shows a massive group of men riding motorcycles and carrying automatic ri**es passing through a security checkpoint without obstruction, while officers are heard calling out greetings.
