METHODIST CHURCH NIGERIA DAILY REFLECTION
DATE: TUESDAY, 16TH SEPTEMBER, 2025.
THEME: PROCLAIM THE GOOD NEWS
PASSAGE: ROMANS 15:14–21
14 And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.
15 Nevertheless, brethren, I have written the more boldly unto you in some sort, as putting you in mind, because of the grace that is given to me of God,
16 That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.
17 I have therefore whereof I may glory through Jesus Christ in those things which pertain to God.
18 For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed,
19 Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.
20 Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man's foundation:
21 But as it is written, To whom he was not spoken of, they shall see: and they that have not heard shall understand.
THE MESSAGE:
Dear brothers and sisters, today's devotional reminds us of the urgency and responsibility we have in proclaiming the Good News. Let us not grow complacent in our faith nor forget the purpose for which we have been created and sealed with the blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ. We must proclaim the gospel with passion, love and dedication. Our vision should be extended beyond the walls of our church buildings, and embrace those who have not yet experienced the love of Christ. When we do so, we become essential agents of God's redemptive plan for humanity.
In verse 14, Paul addresses the Romans Christians, acknowledging their goodness and knowledge, while also reminding them of their roles as believers. We, too, are blessed with the knowledge of Christ's redemptive work and are called to proclaim it. This privilege comes with great responsibility as we are entrusted to carry the gospel message to a world longing for truth and salvation.
Also in verses 15–16, Paul expresses his eagerness to proclaim the gospel to those who have not heard it.
Paul, in verse 17, emphasizes that the power to proclaim the gospel comes from the Holy Spirit.
As believers, we should design our vision and shoot at our target. Brethren, as we step out today, let us recommit ourselves to the task of proclaiming the Good News anywhere we go. May we encounter the Holy Spirit in a new dimension, the Holy Spirit's presence will surely guide, strengthen and empower us afresh to be effective messengers of Christ's transformative love. Let us go forth, filled with passion and compassion, shining brightly in a world filled with darkness of sin, bringing hope, peace, salvation to all those who would be saved.
Wake up now!
MEMORY VERSE: Romans 15:20 “And so I have made it my aim to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build on another man's foundation.”
HYMN: MHB 738 (S.M. and refrain.) REVIVE Thy work, O Lord
1 REVIVE Thy work, O Lord,
Thy mighty arm make bare;
Speak with the voice that wakes the dead,
And make Thy people hear.
Revive Thy work, O Lord,
While here to Thee we bow;
Descend, O gracious Lord, descend!
O come and bless us now.
2 Revive Thy work, O Lord,
Create soul-thirst for Thee;
And hungering for the Bread of Life,
O may our spirits be.
3 Revive Thy work, O Lord,
Exalt Thy precious name;
And, by the Holy Ghost, our love
For Thee and Thine inflame.
4 Revive Thy work, O Lord:
Give power unto Thy word;
Grant that Thy blessed Gospel may
In living faith be heard.
5 Revive Thy work, O Lord,
And give refreshing showers;
The glory shall be all Thine own,
The blessing, Lord, be ours.
