It was fresh grace, renewed spirit, and faith poured back in. Leaving with this word: “LET THIS MIND BE IN YOU WHICH WAS ALSO IN CHRIST JESUS.” - Philippians 2:5
Introduction
As children of God, the way we live our lives, speak, behave, and treat other people should reflect the mind of Christ. Jesus showed us how to live through His love, humility, compassion, obedience, forgiveness, and selflessness.
Jesus had a giving and forgiving heart. Therefore, we should allow His mind to guide our thoughts, words, and actions.
Five Qualities of the Mind of Christ
1. Humility
Jesus was humble and willing to serve others. He demonstrated this by washing His disciples’ feet.
John 13:14 – Jesus washed the feet of His disciples and taught them to serve one another.
As children of God:
* We should respect older people.
* We should be willing to serve others.
* We should not boast about our achievements.
* We should not think we are better than others.
2. Compassion
Compassion means caring about other people and being concerned about their needs.
Jesus showed compassion to people who were suffering. He fed the hungry and comforted the brokenhearted.
Matthew 9:36 – Jesus saw the multitude and was moved with compassion for them.
As Christians, we should:
* Care for people around us.
* Help those who are in need.
* Comfort people who are hurting.
* Avoid bullying and hurting one another.
3. Obedience to God
Jesus was obedient to His Father. As children of God, we should also obey God by following His Word and His laws.
Obedience means doing what God says, even when it is not easy.
4. A Renewed Mind
A renewed mind is a mind that is changed and transformed through God’s Word.
We can develop a renewed mind by:
* Praying regularly.
* Reading the Bible.
* Listening to God’s Word.
* Meditating on God’s Word.
* Allowing the Holy Spirit to guide our thoughts and actions.
Romans 8:6 teaches us that a mind focused on the Spirit brings life and peace.
5. Selflessness
Selflessness means thinking about the needs of others instead of thinking only about ourselves.
God thinks about us and cares for us every day. In the same way, we should care about other people.
We should:
* Help people who need help.
* Give to those who are in need.
* Put others before ourselves.
* Forgive others.
* Show love without expecting anything in return.
Conclusion
Having the mind of Christ means allowing Jesus to influence the way we think, speak, and live. We should be humble, compassionate, obedient, renewed in our minds, and selfless.
When we live according to the mind of Christ, God will lift us up and bless our lives.
Philippians 2:5:
“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.”
Let us therefore ask God to help us have the mind of Christ every day.
