When Apostle Peter described some of Apostle Paul's words as hard to understand I'm sure he was referring to statements like👇👇
" I want to fill up in my flesh what's lacking in the affliction of Jesus." Colossians 1:24
Ah. 😮.
Sir Paul , shebi we describe what Christ did on the cross as " The finished work " ?
So what is lacking in " finished work "?
We've not finished dissecting " I have become all all things to all men so I might win some "
Or " I suffer not a woman to teach or usurp authority but to learn In submission " which some have used as proof that a woman can't teach in church.
And then in our text ( 1 Timothy 1:15 ) , Apostle Paul says that " Christ came into the world to save ( redeem ) sinners of whom I am the worst "
Ah, again😳😳
Sir Paul, I thought you said that " he that is in christ Jesus is a new creature; old things have passed away and all things are now new "
Hear this; everyone👇👇
Paul was not glorifying his sinful past, neither was he carrying a sin- consciousness when he called himself a chief sinner.
He was thanking God for his redemption and the thing about thanking God about your redemption is that it will definitely cause you to cast your mind back to your past atrocities..
And talking about atrocities, Paul had a lot of them.
He was persecutor , boko haramist, killer of the early Christians
He supervised the killing of the first Christian martyr Stephen. He went from house to house to cast Christians in prison.
And so in thiia text ( 1 Timothy 1;15) he is indirectly saying that if Christ could save someone like himself, no one is beyond redemption.
