Standing Tall by Faith
2 Corinthians 5:7
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” (NKJV)
Message:
Life often presents situations that challenge our confidence and shake our stability. Yet, God calls His people to stand tall, not by physical strength or human assurance, but by faith. Standing tall by faith means maintaining spiritual confidence in God regardless of visible circumstances.
Faith is not denial of reality; it is trust in a higher reality, God’s truth. Hebrews 11:1 describes faith as _“the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”_ It is the inner conviction that God is faithful even when situations suggest otherwise.
To stand tall by faith is to refuse to be intimidated by what you see. David faced Goliath not with fear but with faith in God’s power (1 Samuel 17:45–47). While others saw a giant, David saw an opportunity for God’s glory to be revealed. His faith lifted him above fear.
Standing tall by faith also means remaining firm in trials. _“Having done all, to stand”_ (Ephesians 6:13). Life’s battles may push, but faith enables us to remain unshaken. It gives spiritual posture, upright, confident, and anchored in God’s promises.
Faith grows through God’s Word. _“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”_ (Romans 10:17). The more we immerse ourselves in Scripture, the stronger our faith becomes. God’s promises build inner strength that external pressures cannot break.
Prayer also strengthens faith. When the disciples asked Jesus to increase their faith, He responded by pointing them to trust and obedience (Luke 17:5–6). Faith is activated through relationship with God and dependence on Him.
Standing tall by faith does not mean absence of challenges. Rather, it means strength in the midst of them. Paul declared, _“We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed… struck down, but not destroyed”_ (2 Corinthians 4:8–9). Faith sustains us even when life presses hard.
Fear tries to make us shrink, but faith causes us to rise. Fear focuses on limitations; faith focuses on God’s ability. _“If God is for us, who can be against us?”_ (Romans 8:31). This assurance gives believers boldness.
Jesus is our ultimate example. He stood firm in obedience to the Father even unto the cross, trusting in the joy set before Him (Hebrews 12:2). His faithfulness secured our salvation.
Today, you are called to stand tall, not in your strength, but in God’s faithfulness. Do not bow to fear, doubt, or discouragement. Stand firm in faith.
When you stand by faith, you stand unshakable.
