READY TO FACE THE NEW YEAR
Romans 13:11-14
11: And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. 12: The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore, let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. 13: Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. 14: But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.
Tomorrow brings all of us into a new year. It is common for people to make resolutions. Some of us have stopped making resolutions because we know that we are unable to live by those resolutions. How do you get yourself ready to navigate the next three hundred and sixty five days?
The message of readiness is a simple two-letter phrase, “wake up”. In your reflection, you will have noticed that in those instances where you did not do well, you were most likely asleep, you were not alert, you were not watching enough. The apostle says,“wake up out of sleep”. Jesus in the parable of the wheat and tares said, “while men slept”.
When we watch, we engage our spirits with the Holy Spirit. When your spirit is quickened and becomes alert, and sensitive to the Holy Spirit, you are guaranteed success, because He leads you to walk in the perfect ways of God.
You become a candidate of God’s grace to face every temptation and have wisdom to make these critical decisions of destiny.
Pray for an increased level of alertness and watchfulness as your spirit engages the Holy Spirit the next three hundred and sixty- six days of your life.
Prayer:
1. Thank God for His promise that He will never leave you alone or forsake you.
2. Pray that the Holy spirit will purify your spirit for this union to be perfected.
3. Father, please let me walk daily in the anointing of Christ that is upon my life.
Declarations:
I declare today that every day of the year 2024 is dedicated to God. My spirit dwells in the Holy Spirit henceforth. The Holy Spirit shall lead and guide me. The Holy Spirit shall empower me as I confront every situation in this coming year. For this new year, the new way for me is absolute dependence on the Holy Spirit for my life’s journey in the name of Jesus!
