THE SNARE IS BROKEN
Text: Psalm 124:1-8
"The snare is broken" is quite different from "A snare is broken". While the former is a declaration of total victory in the affirmative, the latter depicts an incomplete dealing on the snare. Whenever God is involved in a thing, He does it totally and completely. For you and everyone connected with you, the snare is broken in Jesus' name!
What is a snare?: It's simply a device used for catching small animals and birds. It's usually made with a metal which holds their legs so that they cannot escape. The one that inspired this message is the metallic snares or traps as depicted in the image attached. It's annoying that what was initially meant for animals and birds, has been turned by the devil into snares for those made in the image and likeness of God. For this purpose, Jesus showed up so as to destroy the works of the devil. Hallelujah!
*Things to note about a snare:*
1. *A snare is often hidden*.
- As it's done physically so as to remove any suspension from the would-be prey, so has the enemy employed the tactics of laying snares for his targeted preys. He can set them in certain places, families, etc for ages just to get his targets. Unfortunately, many have walked into this snares unknowingly.
- Thankfully, the Ancient of Days, who saw when it was laid; knows who laid it and the purpose for laying such as spoken and He does exactly what He speaks: The Snare is broken!
- Job 12:22 - "He uncovers mysteries (that are difficult to grasp and understand) out of the darkness and brings black gloom and the shadow of death into light."
- Dan 2:22 - He reveals deep and mysterious things and knows what lies hidden in darkness, though he is surrounded by light"
*Prayer*: *Ancient of Days, please expose and destroy the ancient traps placed against me or members of my family in Jesus' name! Wherever it's been placed, Father utterly break them*
2. *Once anyone steps into a snare, it often holds the fellow and prevents him/her from escaping.* Never again, because Psalms 124:7 has declared our present reality. "We escaped like a bird from a hunter's trap. The trap is broken and we are free!"
- A snare keeps one at the same spot year in, year out. This is often reflected when one keeps dreaming of seeing himself/herself in a particular location even after he/she must have left the location many years back. This depicts "no growth and no progress" and it's a pointer that one has been ensnared.
*Prayer*: *Father, wherever I have been ensnared knowingly or unknowingly, let the snare be broken now and help me to escape right now. "Keep me from the traps they have set for me, from the snares of those who do wrong." Ps 141:9. No more limitations to my growth and progress in Jesus' name*
- A snare keeps one in perpetual servitude because the devil wants to ensure that his prey does his bidding at all times. See 2 Tim 2:26 and Judges 16:20-21.
3. *The ultimate aim of the snare is to hold unto one until the fellow dies.*
In Joshua 23:13, Joshua warned the children of Israel that they will be ensnared till death, if they ever get into marriages with the heathen. Also in 1 Samuel 28:9, a witch had this to say, *The woman said, See here, you know what Saul has done, how he has cut off those who are mediums and wizards out of the land. Why then do you lay a trap for my life to cause my death?* She knew what their specialty in the coven.
*Prayer*: *Father, any snare(trap) placed to kill me, my marriage, ministry etc be broken now in Jesus' name! Every expectations of the fowler concerning me is frustrated now in Jesus' name*
*Pharaoh made a snare for the children of Israel, but when God decided to break it, He ensured that Moses became a snare to Pharaoh and the Egyptians - Exo 10:7. The fowler became the captured prey.
*Prayer*: *Father, let their table become a snare before them and that which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap (poison) for them* Psalm 69:22
4. *A snare will always have a bait*
Amos 3:5, "Does a bird ever get caught in a trap that has no bait? Does a trap ever spring shut when there is nothing there to catch?
a) Inordinate desire to get rich could get one ensnared to one's ruin and destruction - 1 Tim 6:9
*Prayer*: *Father, the riches/wealth that would destroy me, please don't let me have them. Keep such far away from me and my children in Jesus' name*
b) Seducing words and moves of a fornicator, enticing advances of an immoral man/woman or the mouthwatering gifts of an adulterer could be bait needed to get one entrapped. Read Prov 7:1-27(NLT). It's a warning to sons and daughters!
- Sexual immorality is a snare; avoid it. Today's thrill will always lead to tomorrow's ruin, if the warning isn't heeded.
- The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death - Prov 13:14
- The fear of the Lord is the fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death - Prov 14:27
c) Ungodly associations and friendships could be a bait- Read Joshua 23:12-13
*Prayer*: *Father, whatever relationship meant for my destruction that I am presently in, please by your mercy, get me out of it now in Jesus' name. Separate me from every ungodly associations now.*
5. *Irresponsible (unprincipled) lifestyle could lead one into a snare*
Read Prov 6:1-5
- Guaranteeing a debt for a stranger or cosigning a loan for an unreliable friend
- Dishonesty will get one entrapped, but being truthful will always get one out of trouble - Prov 12:13
In conclusion:
*How can one come out of a snare?*
1. Trust in God to break the snare and command your release - Ps 91:2-3. Count on God's help- Ps 124:6-8
2. Pray yourself out of the snare. Prayerlessness will make one become a captured prey easily. CALL ON GOD FOR HELP - Ps 124:6-8
- Psalm 121:1-3 "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
- Be encouraged by the case of Hezekiah and Sennacherib, the king of Assyria in 2 Chron 32. The king felt he had the whole of Judah in his hands and there was no way their God would deliver them. He even mocked at their God. But in verses 20-23, Hezekiah joined with Prophet Isaiah and God answered by using His angel to destroy 185,000 Assyrian soldiers in one night. The boastful king fled to his house, but God wasn't done. He used his own children to kill him right there. God's deliverance is always complete - not half measure!
*What's the role of Anointing in breaking the snare?*
The anointing destroys the snare completely by ensuring that the trap is rendered unuseable. Read Isaiah 10:27 and Luke 4:18.
- Once the snare is broken in a particular life, the same snare can never be used again against the fellow or any other person. God's anointing does a complete work.
- Anointing only works in a sanctified life - 2 Cor 6:17-18.
- Sin prevents the anointing from flowing and insulates it from working - Read Judges 16:20 and 2 Kings 4:29-31. It hinders answers to prayers - Ps 66:1
*Prayer*:
Go before God now and ask Him to show you mercy and cleanse you of every sin. Make a commitment never to return to your vomit.
Once the oil touches your forehead, call on God to break every snare in your life and family permanently and that the snare will never be put to use again. Pray that the anointing will keep you untouchable unsnareable forever.
