UYO STAKE TRAINS LEADERS ON MINISTERING, TEMPLE WORK, DELEGATED LEADERSHIP
The Uyo Nigeria Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has held its First Quarter 2026 Leadership Training Meeting for stake and ward organization leaders, reinforcing the Church’s focus on Christlike leadership and effective ministering.
The training took place at the Uyo Stake Center, located at No. 35 Edet Akpan Avenue, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The leadership training centered on strengthening ministering efforts, developing and implementing effective temple and family history plans, and enhancing member missionary work.
Leaders were taught practical ways to give referrals to full-time missionaries, support new and returning members, and make effective use of the covenant path progress tools to help members grow spiritually and remain firmly anchored in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Stake President Adiel Ntuk led extensive training sessions, with particular emphasis on improving temple and family history work across the stake.
He charged stake and ward leaders to develop deliberate and inspired plans aimed at fulfilling the scriptural mandate of turning “the heart of the children to the fathers, and the heart of the fathers to the children,” as taught in Malachi.
President Ntuk encouraged leaders to identify immediate actions they could take to strengthen these efforts within their respective organizations and wards.
President Ntuk also underscored the importance of delegating responsibilities and ensuring accountability, as outlined in the Church handbook. Drawing from the Savior’s example in the New Testament, he reminded leaders that Jesus Christ gave His disciples meaningful assignments and later invited them to report on their labors.
He taught that delegation not only improves effectiveness in leadership but also helps members grow by allowing them to serve, develop faith, and receive blessings associated with service.
Leaders were instructed that effective delegation involves more than assigning tasks. It includes teaching, counseling together, expressing trust, providing guidance, and offering ongoing support.
Periodic follow-up and appreciation for sincere efforts, President Ntuk noted, help create a culture of trust, growth, and accountability.
He further cautioned against overburdening a few individuals with repeated leadership responsibilities, encouraging leaders instead to prayerfully seek opportunities for all members to serve and develop their talents.
The training also highlighted the Savior’s pattern of preparing others to become leaders and teachers in His Church.
Leaders were encouraged to be mindful that Church programs exist to help people grow and draw closer to Christ, not merely to administer activities. Emphasis was placed on supporting youth, new members, and those who may need additional guidance as they serve, with the assurance that the Lord qualifies those He calls.
President Ntuk taught leaders to plan meetings, lessons, and activities with clear, inspired purposes that strengthen individuals and families and contribute to God’s work of salvation and exaltation.
Participants were reminded to seek inspiration in all planning efforts, ensuring that Church meetings and activities remain focused on helping members come unto Christ.
The First Quarter 2026 Leadership Training Meeting strengthened unity among leaders of the Uyo Nigeria Stake and reaffirmed their commitment to serving with faith, purpose, and accountability in building the Lord’s Church.
