THE PROMISES OF GOD — A SURETY TO THE FAITHFUL BY BRO. JOHN GLENN CHIAGOZIE
Text: Hebrews 7:22
Today's lesson focused on the assurance of God’s promises and the role of Jesus Christ as our Surety. A surety is one who takes responsibility for another’s obligation, and Christ did exactly that for us. We owed the debt of sin and could not pay it, but Jesus took our place and paid the price through His sacrifice on the cross.
The Holy Spirit reminded us that our greatest hope is not in physical or material blessings, but in salvation and eternal life through Christ. Jesus is the perfect and eternal Surety of the better covenant, having dealt with the problem of sin completely and continuing to intercede for the faithful.
Because Christ has done so much for us, our response should be one of faith, gratitude, confidence, and commitment. Our confidence is not in ourselves or our circumstances, but in Christ, who remains our Surety regardless of how those circumstances change.
Happy new week.
