CHRISTIANS & EMOTIONAL HEALTH: A POWERFUL SESSION TO REMEMBER
Mkpongke Ukanireh

In our world today, many silently battle anxiety, stress, and emotional struggles. Being a Christian does not make us immune to emotional challenges, but it gives us the right foundation to overcome them.

The session clearly emphasized that our emotional and psychological well-being is not separate from our spiritual life. Rather, it is deeply connected to our relationship with God. We saw from Scripture that even Jesus Christ expressed emotions.
He wept, showed compassion, felt distress, and yet remained perfectly grounded. This reminds us that emotions are not a weakness, but a natural part of our humanity that must be properly understood and managed.

There are common challenges that affect believers, such as anxiety, depression, guilt, anger, and even burnout, especially among those actively serving in the work of God. These struggles do not make us less spiritual, but rather highlight the need for balance and intentional care.

A major highlight of the lecture was the teaching on emotional intelligence, which is the ability to understand and manage our own emotions while relating well with others. We are encouraged to develop self-awareness, practice self-control, show empathy, and build healthy relationships, recognizing that these are essential not only for personal growth but also for effective Christian living.

As Christians, we are encouraged to express our feelings in healthy ways, build a consistent prayer and Word life, maintain supportive relationships, and take time to rest and recharge when necessary. It is important to think positively, live within our means, and avoid unnecessary pressure from societal expectations. Seeking help from counselors, mentors, or medical professionals is not a sign of weak faith, but an act of wisdom.

The church must create an environment where people feel safe to share their struggles without fear of judgment, where love replaces stigma, and where genuine support and guidance are readily available.

In conclusion, we were left with a profound reminder that a Christian with unstable emotions reflects an imbalance that must be addressed. God desires that we live in total wholeness, spirit, soul, and body experiencing peace, stability, and joy even in difficult times.

PILLARS OF CHRISTIAN UNITY

Yesterday, we continued our study on this theme, with special focus on "Saved in Christ” fom Romans 8:1–5.

One of the greatest assurances we have as believers is this:
"There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
This is the very foundation of our unity. We are all saved the same way, through Christ.

From the beginning, God’s plan has always been to restore man back to Himself. The law revealed sin, but it could not save. So God did what the law could not do. He sent Jesus as a sacrifice for our sins. Through His death and resurrection, we are now free from sin and death.

Through Christ, we are justified not by works, but by being in Him. We are set free by the Spirit of life and empowered to live according to God’s will.

There are two lifestyles clearly revealed in our text:
• Living according to the flesh leads to sin and death
• Living according to the Spirit leads to life and peace

Salvation is not just something we say, it is something we live out daily through the help of the Holy Spirit.

How do we receive this salvation?
• Hear and believe the Gospel
• Repent and turn away from sin
• Confess Jesus as Lord
• Be baptized and walk in fellowship with Him
• Continue living a life led by the Spirit

Salvation in Christ delivers us from condemnation, fulfills what the law could not, and empowers us to live a life that pleases God.

In Christ, we are not just saved, we are transformed and united.

Articulating Your Prayers by J.C. Ryle

Let us pray more, and let us pray more earnestly. Let those who never prayed begin to pray. Let those who have prayed pray better.

Pray for yourselves, that you may know the Lord Jesus, and cleave to Him, that you may be kept from falling, that you may serve your generation, that you may be sober in prosperity, patient in trial, and humble at all times.

Pray for the congregation to which you belong — that the word of the Lord may have free course in it, and be glorified — that the household of faith may become stronger and stronger, and the household of unbelief weaker and weaker.

Pray for your country, that her ministers may preach the Gospel, and be sound in the faith, that her rulers may value the Bible, and govern according to it and that so her candlestick may not be taken away.

And pray for your minister, that he may be strong to work, and willing to labor for your good, that all his sicknesses may be sanctified, and all his health given to the Lord, that he may be ever taught of the Spirit, and thus be able to teach others, that he may be kept faithful unto death, and so be ready to depart when he is called.

Let us all pray, one for the other, I for you, you for me and we shall be blessed in our deed!

In addition to our singing class yesterday led by Nnamso Ikpeida, we were blessed with a powerful word of admonition from the Minister serving with us, Evang. Aniefiok Udoh

Drawing from John 15:1–6, we were reminded of the importance of bearing fruit as Christians. As the Minister rightly said, "Leaves represent presence, but fruits represent productivity.”

It is this productivity that determines our preservation as branches in the Vine.
