WHY DO RIGHTEOUS PEOPLE SUFFER?

THE BIBLICAL TRUTH THAT EVERY CHRISTIAN MUST UNDERSTAND BEFORE DOUBTING GOD

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY SO THAT YOU CAN UNDERSTAND. DON'T SKIP ANY PART!

One of the oldest questions in human history is this: "If God is good, why do His people suffer?" Many people assume that the moment they give their lives to Christ, every problem should disappear. They expect that becoming a Christian means there will be no more pain, no more tears, no more disappointments, no more sickness, no more persecution, and no more difficult seasons.

Then suffering comes. A loved one dies. A business fails. A prayer seems unanswered. A sickness appears. A betrayal happens. And suddenly, many begin asking, "Where is God?" "Why has He abandoned me?" "Have I done something wrong?" Some even lose their faith because they never understood what the Bible actually teaches about suffering.

The truth is this: Being righteous does not mean you will never suffer. It means God will never leave you in your suffering. The Bible never promises a life without trouble. It promises God's presence through every trouble.

THE FIRST SECRET MANY PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW

The greatest righteous man who ever lived was Jesus Christ. Yet He suffered more than anyone. He was rejected, mocked, falsely accused, betrayed by one of His own disciples, beaten, crowned with thorns, and crucified. If suffering automatically meant God had abandoned someone, then Jesus Himself would have been abandoned. But that was not the case. Sometimes suffering is not evidence that God is absent. Sometimes it is evidence that God's purpose is unfolding.

RIGHTEOUS PEOPLE HAVE ALWAYS SUFFERED

Look throughout the Scriptures. Joseph was righteous, yet his brothers sold him into slavery. He was falsely accused and forgotten in prison. David loved God, yet King Saul hunted him like an animal. Daniel remained faithful, yet he was thrown into the lions' den. The three Hebrew boys refused to worship idols, yet they were thrown into the fiery furnace. John the Baptist obeyed God, yet he was imprisoned and executed. Paul preached Christ, yet he experienced beatings, imprisonment, shipwrecks, hunger, and persecution. Their suffering was not proof that God had failed them. It became the stage upon which God's glory was revealed.

NOT ALL SUFFERING HAS THE SAME CAUSE

This is where many believers become confused. Some suffering comes because we live in a fallen world. Some suffering comes because of persecution for righteousness. Some suffering is the consequence of poor decisions. Some suffering is the result of spiritual warfare. Some suffering is allowed by God to mature our faith. This means we should never automatically conclude that every difficult situation is God's punishment.

Jesus corrected this misunderstanding. In John 9, His disciples asked why a man was born blind. They assumed someone must have sinned. Jesus answered that it was not because of his sin or his parents' sin, but that the works of God might be displayed in him. Sometimes our greatest pain becomes the place where God's greatest glory is revealed.

GOD USES SUFFERING TO PRODUCE WHAT COMFORT CANNOT

Nobody enjoys suffering. God is not pleased by our pain. But He is able to use even painful seasons for our good. Romans 8:28 reminds us that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

Fire purifies gold. Pressure forms diamonds. Pruning makes a tree more fruitful. Likewise, God often uses trials to shape His children into the likeness of Christ. Many people pray for stronger faith, yet strong faith is often produced through difficult seasons.

SATAN ALSO ATTACKS THE RIGHTEOUS

The book of Job reveals another truth. Job was described as blameless and upright, yet Satan attacked him fiercely. He lost his wealth, his children, and his health. Even his friends misunderstood him. For much of the story, Job did not know what was happening behind the scenes. Neither do we always know what is happening in the spiritual realm. Just because you cannot see God's hand does not mean He is absent. God was working even when Job could not understand. In the end, God restored Job beyond what he had lost.

THE WORLD HATES THE LIGHT

Jesus warned His followers that the world would oppose them. If the world rejected Him, it would also reject those who belong to Him. Many believers suffer because they refuse to compromise. They refuse corruption. They refuse immorality. They refuse to deny Christ. Darkness naturally resists light. Do not be surprised when obedience attracts opposition.

PAUL'S THORN IN THE FLESH

Paul prayed repeatedly for God to remove his thorn in the flesh. Instead of removing it immediately, God answered, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness." Sometimes God changes the situation. Sometimes He changes us while we walk through the situation. Both are miracles.

WHAT SHOULD BELIEVERS DO DURING SUFFERING?

• Do not stop praying. • Do not stop worshiping. • Do not stop trusting God. • Do not isolate yourself from other believers. • Continue obeying God's Word. • Keep your eyes on Christ instead of your circumstances. • Remember that every season has an appointed end.

YOUR SUFFERING HAS AN EXPIRATION DATE

No night lasts forever. Morning always comes. Psalm 30:5 says, "Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning." God may not act according to our timetable, but He is never late. His timing is always perfect.

THE GREATEST VICTORY CAME THROUGH SUFFERING

The cross looked like defeat. The disciples thought everything was over. Hell celebrated. The enemy believed he had won. But three days later, Jesus rose from the dead. What appeared to be the greatest defeat became the greatest victory in history. Never judge God's plan while He is still writing the story.

HEAR THIS

If you are walking through suffering today, do not conclude that God has forgotten you. Your pain is real. Your tears matter. Your prayers are heard. God is still with you. He still loves you. He still has a purpose for your life.

The God who was with Joseph in prison, Daniel in the lions' den, the three Hebrew boys in the fire, Paul in prison, and Job in his trials is the same God who walks with His children today. Hold on to Him. He has never failed. He never will.

WHEN GOD RESTORES YOUR STRENGTH, NO POWER CAN STAND AGAINST YOU

“Then Samson reached toward the two central pillars on which the temple stood. Bracing himself against them, his right hand on the one and his left hand on the other.” — Judges 16:29 (NIV)

There are moments in life when everything feels lost—when strength is gone, vision is blurred, and the enemy seems to be celebrating your downfall. Samson stood in such a place. Once chosen, strong, and anointed, he found himself broken and humiliated. But what looked like the end of his story was actually the setup for God’s final move.

Samson’s power was never truly in his hair—it was in his calling and his relationship with God. Even after failure, even after disobedience, God had not abandoned him. This is the powerful truth many forget: your mistakes do not cancel God’s purpose over your life. When you turn back to Him, restoration begins.

In that final moment, Samson did something powerful—he prayed. Not a long prayer, not a perfect prayer, but a desperate and sincere cry to God. And heaven responded. Sometimes all God is waiting for is your surrender, your humility, your return. One genuine prayer can shift everything.

As Samson pushed against the pillars, it was no longer human strength—it was divine empowerment. The same man who had been mocked became the instrument of God’s power. When God strengthens you again, even your weakest moment becomes a weapon. What once held you captive will begin to break.

The pillars represent the very foundation of what stands against you—fear, sin, oppression, doubt. And when God steps in, those foundations cannot remain. What seemed unshakable will begin to crumble. God doesn’t just bring you out—He tears down what tried to destroy you.

This story is not just about destruction—it is about redemption. Samson’s final act fulfilled his purpose. In one moment of restored strength, he accomplished more than he did in his entire life before. God can redeem lost time. He can restore years. He can still use you powerfully.

No matter where you are right now, this is your reminder: it is not over. God is able to restore your strength, your purpose, and your impact. When you lean on Him again, the very things that once held you bound will fall. Your comeback will be greater than your setback.

Amen 🙏🔥

Lord, hear our mothers’ prayers 🙏
In the Apostolic Church, mothers stand as pillars of faith—
weeping in prayer, fasting in silence, and lifting families before God.
Their prayers rise like incense, speaking when words fail and crying when voices are tired.
Lord, hear the prayers of our mothers.
Prayers for their children, the Church, the nation, and generations yet unborn.
May their tears bring answers, their faith bring revival, and their sacrifices bring glory to Your name.
A praying mother is a blessing to the Church and a shield to her home.
