PRAYER:
Preamble: Prayer is an irresistible tool that Christians can apply to take dominion against the whisker of the enemy. Any Christian living without curiosity of prayer is tantamount to an aeroplane flying without a parachute; or a storey building without a staircase.
Moreover, prayer is an indispensable weapon that we can use to demean or exterminate the antique of the enemy. Let me opine that, despite an unauthorised handwriting written against an individual or a family, if any member of that family can be devoted to his or her time to pray relentlessly, such an unauthorised handwriting can be wiped away.
Definitions of Prayer:
According to the Mirriam Webster Dictionary, "prayer is an address (such as a petition) to God or a god in word or thought."
Similarly, the same Mirriam Webster Dictionary defines prayer as "an earnest request or wish". With the above preliminary discourse, Christians are advised to make their requests known to God in word or in thought; and pray fervently to avert any dooming danger, unforeseen circumstance, temptation or difficulty in life.
The text of today's admonition is taken from 1Thess. 3:10
Aims of the Sermon:
1. This sermon is apt or timely. It is poised to re-awaken the consciousness of a believer to place more premiums on prayer, by praying fervently and consistently.
2. At the end of today's exhortation, Christians will be encouraged to revive their prayer culture in order to draw more closer to God.
3. Through the Sermon, children of God will be reliably reminded of those abstracts that may likely prohibit or dampen their prayer being answered positively.
Beloved in Christ, prayer remains a powerful armour that can be used to fight the trick of the enemy. In the book of Eph. 6:12, it admonishes us: to "put on the full armour of God so that we can take a stand against the devil's schemes".
The devil's scheme always comes in different dimensions or parameters. It easily attacks those whose prayer habit is porous or ineffective. Let me say that, any Christian who slag in prayer, has opened a big lacuna for an attack.
How does Satan attack an individual or a family? It attacks by invoking spiritual legal authority through the following avenues.
1. Entangled with devilish objects. Exd. 20:3
2. Inculcate the habit of an unforgiven spirit. Matt. 6:14
3. Keeping sinister or malice.
4. Inadequate faith. Heb. 11: 6
5. Inability to pray consistently. 1 Thess. 5:17
6. Phobia - Fear
7. Pessimism - the doctrine that reality is essentially evil.
The Danger Associated by Inability to Pray:
1. Spiritual moribund or decadence.
2. Far from the presence of God.
3. Vulnerable or susceptible to attack.
4. Untimely death.
Having discussed on prayer for the past few minutes,
Please permit me to outline the following recommendations,
1. Create time to pray always.
2. Do not fail to pray before your day activities and before you go to bed.
3. While praying, don't allow any fear to envelope you no matter your terrifying moments or affliction of this life.
4. Have faith in God.
5. Read the following bible portions: Psalms 35,109, 83, 23,140, 91, Matt. 7:7, Isa. 45:2-4.
Conclusion: Having received the divine message from the oracle of God, may we always be optimistic, have faith in God while praying in order to banish the enemy from our life. Our prayer is in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
