π₯ SERMON: THE FEAR OF GOD: A TOOL TO MANIFESTING THE GLORY OF GOD
ποΈ Ministering: Pst. Augustine Udoh, PICZ
π Texts: Ecclesiastes 12:13; Proverbs 1:7
π₯ INTRODUCTION
The glory of God is the visible manifestation of His presence, power, goodness and greatness in our lives. πβ¨
Many people desire the glory, the testimony, the breakthrough, the open doors and the blessings of God, but sometimes ignore the tool that provokes and sustains the manifestation of that glory.
That tool is THE FEAR OF GOD. ππ₯
The fear of God does not mean being terrified of God. Rather, it is having a deep reverence, awe, honour and respect for Himβa heart that makes us hate what God hates and love what God loves. β€οΈβπ₯
It means asking ourselves in our daily lives:
π βWill this decision please God?β
π βWill God be honoured by what I am doing?β
π βCan I maintain my integrity even when nobody is watching?β π
1οΈβ£ WHAT THE FEAR OF GOD IS NOT AND WHAT IT IS
β WHAT IT IS NOT β FEAR OF MAN
π Proverbs 29:23
When you fear man more than you fear God, you can easily compromise your convictions.
Fear of man can make someone:
β’ Do what is wrong just to please people.
β’ Hide their faith because of peopleβs opinions.
β’ Compromise their integrity because of money. π°
β’ Follow the crowd even when they know the crowd is going the wrong way.
But when you truly fear God, Godβs opinion becomes more important than manβs applause. π
β
WHAT IT IS β THE FEAR OF THE LORD
π Proverbs 1:7
βThe fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.β
The fear of God is the foundation. ποΈ
When the knowledge of God is put into action, it becomes wisdom.
π Proverbs 16:6 β By the fear of the Lord, men depart from evil.
The fear of God should therefore affect our speech, relationships, marriages, businesses, careers, finances, choices and private lives. β€οΈ
2οΈβ£ WHY MUST EVERY MAN FEAR GOD? β ECCLESIASTES 12:13
π Ecclesiastes 12:13
βLet us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.β
This is not only the duty of a pastor.
It is not only the duty of a church worker.
It is not only the duty of an elderly person.
It is the duty of every man. π
Whether you are a:
π¨βπ©βπ§ Parent
πΌ Businessman
π· Engineer
π Driver
π©βπΌ Professional
π Student
π Husband or wife
πΆ Child or young person
Our first responsibility is to fear God and keep His commandments.
A person may have money, position, education and influence, but without the fear of God, those things cannot replace a right relationship with God.
3οΈβ£ WHAT THE FEAR OF GOD DOES FOR YOU β 4 BLESSINGS π
π
°οΈ IT ENABLES YOU TO WALK IN THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD
π Daniel 11:32
The fear of God moves you beyond simply knowing about God to actually walking with God. πΆββοΈπ₯
You begin to consider God in your everyday decisions.
At work, at home, in your business, on your phone π±, in your conversations and even when nobody is watchingβyou remember that God sees you.
That consciousness helps you live differently.
π
±οΈ IT EMPOWERS YOU TO KNOW THE MIND OF GOD
π Psalm 25:14
βThe secret of the Lord is with them that fear himβ¦β
God reveals His plans and gives direction to those who fear Him. πβ¨
There are decisions you cannot afford to make based only on emotions, pressure or peopleβs opinions.
The fear of God helps you seek Godβs direction before making important decisions.
π
²οΈ IT ENABLES YOU TO BECOME A BLESSING
People who fear God are preserved to become channels of blessing to others. πβ€οΈ
God does not bless us only for ourselves.
Your family can benefit from your fear of God.
Your children can learn from your example. π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦
Your workplace can benefit from your integrity.
Your community can benefit from your character.
Sometimes the greatest testimony is not just what God has given you, but the kind of person God has made you. π
π
³οΈ IT PROVOKES THE GLORY OF GOD β¨π₯
There are benefits attached to fearing God:
π Psalm 31:19 β Great goodness is laid up for those who fear Him.
π Psalm 34:9 β Those who fear the Lord shall not lack.
π Psalm 103:13 β As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him. β€οΈ
π Psalm 25:12 β God teaches the person who fears Him the way he should choose.
So, the fear of God brings goodness, preservation, compassion, direction and purpose. πβ¨
πΆ CHILDREN DEDICATION
As we dedicate our children to the Lord, we are reminded that raising a child is more than providing food, clothing and education.
We must also raise children who know God, honour God and fear God. ππΆβ€οΈ
π Proverbs 22:6 β βTrain up a child in the way he should goβ¦β
May our children grow in the knowledge of God.
May they become vessels of honour.
May they walk in wisdom.
May they fear the Lord and depart from evil.
May their lives bring glory to God. ππ₯
And may every parent receive the grace to lead by example. β€οΈ
ποΈ CONCLUSION
You cannot manifest the glory of God while deliberately rejecting the fear of God.
The glory is not for showmen; it is for God-fearers. π₯
If you want God to show up in your:
π Family
πΌ Business
π Career
β€οΈ Marriage
π Spiritual life
π± Future
Then go back to the fear of God.
Let holiness speak.
Let obedience speak.
Let integrity speak.
Let your private life agree with your public confession. π
FEAR GOD. HONOUR GOD. OBEY GOD. AND LET HIS GLORY BE SEEN THROUGH YOUR LIFE. β¨π₯
π ALTAR CALL / PRAYER
βLord, give me a heart that fears You. β€οΈβπ₯
Help me to depart from evil.
Help me to walk in obedience, holiness and integrity.
Teach me Your ways and guide my decisions.
Let my life, my family, my children, my career and everything that concerns me bring glory to Your name.
Let Your presence and glory be manifested in my life.
In Jesusβ name, Amen! ππ₯β
β¨ THE FEAR OF GOD IS NOT A BURDEN; IT IS A PATHWAY TO WALKING IN HIS GLORY. β¨
π TO GOD ALONE BE ALL THE GLORY!
